Can feel the presence of peaceful spirits here. The long and wide wall of stones is something to see. Its all in the shade making for a comfortable temperature even when hot outside. Just off of the Natchez Trace on County Rd 8 in Alabama is easy access. Signage states to park across the street on the right. Open from 8 AM to 4 PM.

A true gem! We found this while searching for places to see in the Florence/Muscle Shoals area. This place is a heartfelt testament of one mans devotion to his ancestor. He depicts the story of his great, great, great grandmothers journey back to her native land by hand laying natural stones, one for each step she took into walls along wooded paths. Along the path are many areas that one might stop to meditate and reflect upon their lifes journey. A must see if you are in the area.

If you havent been to Tom Hendricks Wall you gotta put this on your places to visit. Its must see, amazing rock wall creation. Prayer circle, I love this place. KBAR and I have gone here for several runs. He has brothers/ friends from SAINTS MC/ G.B.N.F this was there favorite place. We wasnt able to find SAINT ONeal Memorial Ride bc of Covid-19, so we added our own tribute to SAINT ONeal / G.B.N.F.on our last visit toTrail of Tears ride 2020. Heres pic. Of our visit. I have stopped here many times over the years while leading a group of motorcycle riders. We stopped yesterday and backed our heavy touring bikes into the drive-way just as Tom the owner had instructed us to in the past. I was glad to see the drive was now cement instead of gravel. But just as we got off the bikes, a woman came out scolding us for parking in her drive-way. She told us we were welcome to see the Wall but had to park across the paved road of the gravel side street. The gravels looked like large chunks of yellow rock that would be difficult to park on and turning would be hard.Cars and even adventure bikes should have no problem. But heavy touring bikes should reconsider stopping here. We left taking our $100 donation with us and apologized to her for getting her upset.

This place is amazing. The story of Tom Hendrixs great, great, great grandmother is inspiring (and heartbreaking). It was so touching to see the heart and soul Tom put into building this tribute to her. And heartwarming to see the momentos that visitors have added over time. Its almost totally in the shade so on a hot day its comfortable in the shade. There are a couple of spots to sit down (he made stone benches). Allow time for a peaceful stroll and also the opportunity to speak with the family members. On the day we went, Toms son Trace was there to share stories and answer questions. You park across the street on the right side of the road.

This is a great place to visit, just make sure its not raining. We couldnt go through the whole place. Its so amazing. We will go back again. Also theres been some Males thats been damaging and throwing things, this isnt a nice thing to do. The man that worked so hard and long placed the stones for his family and visitors to enjoy is not right for others to try to destroy something that isnt for them to destroy. You know who you are you need to be spanked with a belt.

Learned about this from the 2013 documentary, Muscle Shoals. Also known as Toms Wall, his widow now handles visitors. If youre visiting from out of town, bring a rock from your hometown. Interesting to notice the difference in temperature above and beside the wall. Located off Natchez Trace Parkway, which is a 10,000 year old trail. Fascinating.

Tom Hendrixs stone wall is a beautiful and touching memorial for his Native American ancestor who was removed from her home and taken to Oklahoma along the Trail of Tears as an adolescent. She later walked back home alone - a 5 year journey. Tom hand placed each stone in the Wichahpi Commemorative Wall, creating a stunning memorial.

Unfortunately, there is a road next to it and traffic can be loud, it is still a moving experience. I bought the book, couldnt put it down, when we go back, I will buy the dvd.

This amazing place was built entirely by Tom Hendrix in honor of his Native American grandmother who was forced to Oklahoma by the US government in the 1830s. She then walked back to Alabama and lived in the area until she died as an old woman. Each stone upon stone commemorates her journey, and the journeys of other Native Americans displaced by the US Government. It is definitely worth a visit, and we got to hear the story from Mr Hendrix himself. What a pleasure!
