First time to hike here. Very pretty. Incredibly well marked trails. So glad I could bring my dog. Will probably return soon. Highly recommend for your outdoor peoples who dont have forever to drive somewhere. Cant believe I slept on this place for so long. Its 2020 so bring your mask, a few of the trails cant get busy.

This place was so lovely, the scenery was great and there was a decent cover so there was not too much sun exposure, there are various steps on certain trails and various bumps throughout the trail to direct water flow. There are benches through the trails if one needs to sit down and rest. Overall great experience.

What makes this trail different is like you are going up on a mountain (so it is tiring because its steep) but you get to see the city fro up there its beautiful scenery, I took the Cattail pond trail which is one mile planning to go and do other trails.Worth it. Wear a good shoes for hiking. Its preferred to have a company with you.

Watch out for snakes (Im not kidding). Its got a great moderate set of trails. Well travelled and quite busy (even midday during the week). Parking is plentiful. People are trail running and walking. Most (all?) of the trails eventual loop back to the parking area. I loved it.

This place is one of the best in DFW area for hike, it’s not that sunny to hike here because of the greenery. There are all levels of trails here. Due to covid I use my mask most of the time while hiking and Every time when I pass anyone. Just carry a bottle of water and energy drink (if you need) and this place is perfect for a day hike!!!!

I love this place I feel like I’m talking to god running through here but today somebody said there was a mountain lion around 7:30am and everybody was leaving I was one of them so I was curious if they are even in this region of Texas mountain lions are supposedly only in south and west Texas is this true ? And are there any in this part of Texas? I just don’t want to end up in a fight for my life one morning trying to get my run on

And while dogs are allowed you have to pick up its droppings. Pics are from one of i think 3 outlook points. Theres also benches for rest scattered thought the trails.

Great bit of nature in the middle of a sprawling metropolis. There were several outlook places to see said sprawling metropolis. I went just before sunrise and was able to get a parking spot. However when I left an hour or so later it was pretty packed. The wider trails are chat or mulch with the narrower trails being rock and dirt for the most part. Many wooden bridges throughout the trails. The trails are a loop and have markers every 0.1 mile which identify direction to the trailhead. Each trail is named and well labeled for distance one you reach it from the main trail.I ran on the trails and saw only one or two other people running. Most were hiking/walking. Only a few people with dogs. There is a washroom at the entrance to the park.

Some nice views and good location for a moderate weekend hike for those looking for something to do around DFW. Be sure to come early as there is very limited parking near by but you can park down the road and walk in. It can be crowded, so dont expect to have the trail to yourself but you rarely get stuck not moving on the trail. There is a considerable amount of elevation on this trail, so be prepared for that depending on which routes you take and do your research before heading off.

Beautiful place to walk and hike, I recommend this to people that are bored at home and have nothing else to do. Great hiking and easy to find trails. Very crowded though so if your looking for social distance there are other great places less crowded. I recommend taking the trail down to the pond. Be sure to leave a donation. You can see the hard work they do to keep the trails up. Especially during these time of uncertainty a 3 dollar donation goes a long way. Cheers!

I love, love coming here. I try and come at least once a month. My favorite is Cedar Brake trail. If you are looking for a little workout, this is for you. There are a lot of vertical steps and it is more challenging. If you are hiking with kids, try Cat Pond Trail and Escarpment on the way back up. These trails are super clean and very well maintained. I also like there are no mountain bikes allowed, so it is just walkers, hikers and runners. There are always a lot of people there so as a woman solo hiker I have always felt safe.

We went hiking here as a family the day after Christmas - loved how this area doesnt even look like Dallas. The rolling hills and trees look more like what you would see around Kentucky. There are easy enough trails here to do with toddlers in tow. DO NOT bring a stroller, it wont work on the trails here, but luckily we have a carrier. Theres a nice overlook on some of the trails that gives you a beautiful view of Joe Pool lake, good place to stop for a snack with the kiddos. Plenty of benches and well marked trails.

Anyway, he then said we could go in without it. I passed on his aggressive offer.

This place is perfect for hiking with your dog. Some of the trails have small creeks, where my dog likes to stop for a break. Just be aware that a lot of dog owners do not understand that they need to keep their dog close to them, and some will actually let them come up to other dogs without any authority (it happens a lot).. beautiful wildflowers scattered throughout the trails. Great place to train for a backpacking trip. They also have some secluded decks in the butterfly garden area (great place to do some yoga/picnics).

CAUTION: This is a great park, and a beautiful wildlife preserve. The hiking trails are perfect for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. We genuinely enjoyed spending the day at this wildlife preserve many times over thre years. Use caution at all times. Its been a little while since my last visit, but there were signs warning of rattle snakes and pit vipers that must not be ignored. Ive seen many venomous snakes here. Practice caution with respect of Mother Nature, and you will enjoy the trails and all they have to offer. We found it easy to spend the entire day here.

This preserve is excellent and well maintained. The Cedar Brake and Fossil Valley trails are great if you seek mostly shaded trails with plenty of slopes. I enjoyed the distinctions between trails and the good signage at trail intersections along with mile markers every tenth of a mile with an arrow toward the trail head. Ill definitely return since I was impressed with my experience and this preserve is comparable to my favorites in the metroplex.

The nature preserve is excellent the people are not. This is not a city park, its a nature preserve owned primarily by the Audubon Dallas chapter. It has slowly gotten worse every year as it gets more crowded. People are throwing their trash on the trails or sticking it in the trees. Since it is a nature preserve people should use some common sense and not play their music out loud on the trails so everyone can hear it for a good portion of the trial. I took my 8 year old and several times we passed people that were playing music that was mostly cuss words.

A beautiful preserve awaits you, if you decide to come, with quite the crowds to explore its grounds. There was a line for parking because if you do not get there before 8am it’s going to be very difficult to snag a spot. It has trails for all levels of intensity and the longest trail is about 2 miles long. I’d recommend to take plenty of water and snacks or maybe even a picnic to make it a day at the preserve. Picnic tables are available for those who want to bring meals.

The only reason this place is so nice is because most people are doing their part to keep it clean and funded. Remember that real people put in real work and real money to maintain the trails, so make sure you donate if you can and don’t leave a mess. If you let your dog poop on the trail without picking it up and leave litter everywhere, you don’t deserve this place. You are just as good as the trash you leave if that’s the case. Shoutout to the people I saw picking up industrial bags full of trash in the heat. Y’all are amazing!
