Easy hike until the very end. The last scramble is challenging, both up and down! Its fun to walk/climb around at the top. Not recommended for small children. We have a 2yo and 4yo and I think our hair turned gray trying to make sure they didnt fall off any cliffs.

Theres a beautiful view once you climb up to the top. The hike itself is a moderate one. And Ive seen children do it and people take their dogs up with them. Just mind the cactus and youll be fine.

Seems strange for a hiking destination to be in the middle of town but this is a great place to get some walking/hiking in. If you are up for the climb to the top I would recommend wearing the correct shoes and being prepared for some slippery slopes. A great place to go for a morning or afternoon hike!

Great place for a short hike. Not too strenuous but you need to be able to climb up some rocks at the top. Plenty of hiking trails around the base of the rock too. Parking lot was a bit hard to find. We passed it a few times and drove through neighborhoods before we found the right place.

Such a beautiful view from most of the park. Not usually crowded away from the top of the pulpit. Smaller park but good for a few miles.

There are 2 parking areas that are about 2/10th mile apart. I parked in the lot that is just right of the rock. Its small lot and not maintained. The lot down the road and left of the rock is about same size and condition. My Google map took me to the parking lot to the left of the rock. Go early to avoid heat and sun as there is no shade. The trail on the left is an easy walk until you get to the rock. Then its time to climb rocks that at times are steep. There are plenty of trails on the right but none are marked nor are they taken care of. So I went up on the left side and came down on the right. Next time I will go up and come down on the right side but as I mentioned none of the trails are marked on the right side so it was hit or miss on which trail to take. Great views at the top.

Not the best trail but it is close. There are tons of different trails up to the rock itself but none of them are clearly marked. Not worth a second trip.It does have a decent view though.

Beautiful and very unique, be sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes. Not meant for flip flops, kids can participate as long as they can keep their footing. The view at the top is amazing, and if you dont want to climb there is a level trail behind it, youll have to park in the neighborhood to access this.I recently went for a run on the trails beneath the Pulpit structure, these are great, well manicured and clearly marked. LOTS of geocaching too!

Its a fun hike and does get challenging the last half of the trail. I Recommend wearing good hiking shoes or boots and bring water. In total we spent 2 hours here. We saw 2 deer up close and a small rabbit as well. The best part about Pulpit Rock Park... ITS FREE.

Quite the hike. And the path is not clear for anyone who is new to the trail. Walk near the fences by the apartments to go around to the right and then up. Good views!

Review №18

Quite the hike! Its hard to know the path if youve never been there before. So walk along the path near the fence/apartments and come around to the right side and walk up. Make sure you wear shoes you dont care about getting mud on them because their is plenty of muddy areas with all the snow and ice that stays behind. Also parking sucks. Either find a way to not park in the parking lot or pray you dont park in a bad way in which you might get in trouble. Besides those issues it does have good views

Great place to taoe a quick hike. Be warned, dont use sneakers climbing this. I us3d my boots but they are old hiking boots and lossed some traction and hard a bit of a hard time going up the rock face. Now there are several different ways to get up there but my dog and I mustve ended up on the wrong side(hard side). Great view from atop. Keep your dogs leashed being there is cactus on side of the trails and it is a long drop from the top if they slip.

Warning::: Our car window was smashed on a Saturday evening when we went out to hike. Thankfully we didn’t have anything valuable stolen, but we were not the only broken into vehicle, and another pulled in as we were dealing with it and said hers was broken into before too. So beware!!!As far as the trail, we loved it. It was as easy or difficult as you want. We used a lot of the loop but also took some paths off the route. Beautiful rocks. Definitely hot, very little shade

A person can choose to walk the lower paths for a casual stroll take a slight hike or track it up to the top of the rocks. Beware though... You should come prepared for when you have to come back down and the silt from the stones is quite slippery sometimes. Great views, especially considering youre basically in the middle of town.

Easy walk around the rock, on groomed trails, which are all near busy roads with lots of traffic noise. Be aware that if you want to climb up to the top of Pulpit Rock all the approaches are social trails that are quite steep and unmarked. Views on the top are great. Lots of people and dogs on a weekend day. Parking lots were small and full today.

This is almost an actual hike. You don’t need a hiking stick but you might want athletic shoes. It’s probably a 1.5 mile walk/hike to get to the rock and it’s a dirt trail. The trail is narrow at times. Climbing onto the rock is definitely a steep experience but mostly everyone is capable of doing it. Lovely overall

Excellent nature reserve with lots overlapping trails for hiking and mountain biking. Keep you bearings at all times though because it would be easy to take the wrong path and get lost.Truly epic views of Pikes Peak from the top, as well as much of Colorado Springs. The trails have a lot of loose rocks and gravel so they can be slippery - watch your step particularly on the way down. Although its a relatively easy hike, keep a close eye on any children in your party because theres plenty of falling-of-the-edge-or-down-a-hill potential. No facilities on site that I noticed, so be sure to bring your own water. Lots of wildlife lives within the reservation so stick to the trails: no need to disturb the deer, or risk running into a bear or snake.

This park was a nice surprise. I was heading out of Colorado Springs and decided to get one more hike in before hitting the road. This park is in the city and easy to access. There are well worn trails leading up to Pulpit Rock. Getting to the top required a few relatively easy scrambles. The view from the top is great. You can see the city, Garden of the Gods, and Pikes Peak in the distance.

What a great place for a short little hike. I brought my dog here, and had such a wonderful time. The paths are well established, the views from the rock are great, and there is enough trail to wear out a lab puppy. There is no shade, so if you go in the summer, be sure to bring water. The sandy trails seem to be a lot hotter when its 80 degrees and the sun is beating down on you. Hahaha
