A fantastic hike that is close to Colorado Springs! The dirt road to the trail head is a bit rough and a rig with moderate clearance is suggested but I did see several sedans that made it up along th way! The views are pretty average for Colorado, but are fantastic considering how quickly you can get up to it!
Really beautiful at the top but some of the view is obscured by trees. There are some breathtaking views on the way up of the other mountains. The trailhead isnt marked, theres a horse trail and one trail goes up and one goes down, hop on the trail that goes up. My dogs enjoyed the hike, saw lots of deer and chipmunks!
I really enjoyed this trail, 3.8 miles out and back. You have to drive on a dirt road to get to the trail, parking is limited, trail is not well marked but we had no problems following it. Its definitely not a smooth trail, lots of loose gravel. We didnt encounter other people during our hike and the views were pretty cool.
You know there was some trees a rock a squirrel. A plethora of dirt underneath my feet, air in the sky....
This is a nice trailhead a reasonable drive from the city. Its got a single trail out and back from Gray Back Peak. The views are very good, especially for such a short hike. Its a great hike for families, especially since its not quite as crowded as some of the other hikes closer to the Springs (Im looking at you, Seven Bridges). One thing keeping it from a five star rating is the lack of versatility. Its worth driving to for an easy 4-mile-round-trip jaunt in the forest, but otherwise I doubt youll find yourself coming to this trailhead again and again.
Excellent views and easy hike to the summit.Well maintained and easy to find trail. Need to drive five miles on the dirt road before get to the trail.
