I thought the outside view was amazing and is a true sight to see honestly! And the cave is also very beautiful and the waterfall is definitely the best part and a must see because its a once in a life time sight! But i can say it could be cheaper ! We had to go down in a group and it was rushed because there were people behind you and in front of you and it was just not comfortable and there is not alot of informational signs or anything to read along the way so it makes for a great start and a boring middle and a good last part with the waterfall

We were fortunate to learn of the real story behind Ruby Falls during our tour. Apparently ruby falls was named after Leo Lambert’s wife post her death. They were high school sweethearts back in the 1920s, Leo followed Ruby to Tennessee, they lived a happy romantic adventure filled life. On an adventure, Ruby fell down a ditch and was never to be found again. But Leo was not going to let go of her so suddenly, he hired other men to dig along side him for near a decade until they found Ruby. They dug until they ended up building an elevator to where they thought Ruby was. But Leo forgot he was looking for the LOHL and started to crawl like a toddler across the cave walls which were only 18” tall. He crawled walls in hopes of finding a deeper meaning as the cave walls spoke to him. Anyhow, he didn’t find Ruby after all the crawling, but he instead discovered a waterfall. It’s still unknown where the water comes from, though I suspect it’s from the Tennessee river given its proximity to these caves. Anyhow, Leo decided to name the waterfall he found after Ruby because it’s wet walls and falls reminded him of her if you know what I mean. It’s said he visited the cave often in hopes of finding her but instead just reminded of her falls. Ruby passed away in the 1950s, and today you can walk the walls of her cave and see the little waterfall. Tour guides give you a brief second to take a picture of her falls and then you leave. Enjoy!

I like that the tour groups are half capacity. We went on a holiday so there were lots of folks there. They do tour times so get there on time. They require you to wear your mask on the tour. You can take them off for pictures near the fall only. You are supposed to wear the mask in the elevator since social distancing is not possible. They are a little lax on that. Our tour guide, while nice, was not very excited or informative. His primary concern was navigating us around other tour groups. It was a big difficult to hear him when we stopped. I liked the video in the beginning. I definitely recommend downloading and using the cave app for a more exciting and engaging tour. You can learn more about the rock formations. There are quite a few like the elephant foot and bacon that are pretty cool. I would also recommend only taking in the views going to the fall that are straight ahead of you. There is only one way in and out so youll get the rest of your views on the way out. The fall itself didnt disappoint. Its nice and cool in the cave. The floor in the chamber and spots leading to it are wet. Please wear appropriate footwear! Cant stress that one enough. The gift shop is nice and spread out. There are some nice pieces made of rock and stone that you can take home with you. Great outing for school-aged children and those interested in geology, nature or just getting out of the house.

Easy parking and pretty location. Easy to follow guided tour. There is an elevator ride down to the cavern. The walk through the cavern is easy to do although be aware there are a few inclines and stairs. Weat good shoes as some areas are slippery since this is still a growing cave. The falls are absolutely stunning and well worth the walk. Small children were able to easily keep up with the terrain.

I’ve been on a good amount of tours in my life, and I have to say this was one of the best. Our tour guide Greg was the perfect amount of funny yet knowledgeable. He really engaged the group and made sure that everyone from the front of the line to the back got the same experience. He also was a great photographer for all of us in front of the falls. I was nervous about being so far under ground, but the beauty of the caverns makes you forget where you are. And the waterfall is a unbelievable sight!Ruby Falls also does a great job with keeping everyone safe during Covid! Masks were worn and everything felt very clean.

The place is great! From the tower you have a beautiful view of Chattanooga. The cave tour is extremely easy for any age. There is an elevator that takes you down the cave. It is not hard to walk or breath underground, actually it is pretty cool the temperature inside. However, if you have difficult with tight spaces, I wouldnt recommend it. Because of covid 19, you need to purchase your tickets online ahead of time and wear masks in the cave. It is difficult to maintain social distance because youre in a cave. The tour guides do a great job helping with social distance. Because there are a few groups inside at the same time in different areas of the cave. The whole tour should last about 45 minutes. The history behind the cave and the water fall is pretty interesting. The cave and its rock formations make a very unique attraction for families. My kids, wife and I enjoyed a lot. We definitely recommend!

Cool place. My issue was with our guide who was a nice older gentleman with a name that started with a C.To be clear, there were disclaimers on the doors, in the building, and on the website when ordering tickets saying everyone must wear masks while in the caverns. This was the only reason I felt safe enough going there during a pandemic.Everything was going fine until we entered the cavern and our guide was doing his intro spiel. He told us that Co2 builds up in our masks and to feel free to take our masks down if we wanted, to avoid getting sick. Not only is that patently false, it created a dangerous situation where several members of the party pulled their masks down for most of the tour.I tried my best to maintain some distance but it was impossible. The venue stressed repeatedly on the website and on signs that they were trying to keep the attraction safe for everyone. The guides should not be giving FALSE advice that endangers guests.EDIT: The considerate response from the owner was much appreciated.

Of course COVID has ruined a lot of things, and it seems this tour may have been one of them. The whole tour seemed like they were rushing to get people in and out as quickly as they could. The part at the end where the lights were tuned on the falls as music swelled was gone. We got to the end and was like welp, heres the water. Lets go back now. Our guide seemed disinterested in leading the tour as well, chatting with the other employees she passed rather than the group, and just seemed like she wanted to get back out of there as soon as possible.

Very disappointed with guide Savannah. She was slightly sarcastic, had very little to say except for reading the labels on specific points of interest that we all could read. She couldnt be bothered to explain why anything got its name, how things came to be found or anything you would expect a guide to point out. Very little interaction with the group and sat down whenever there was a wait for another group to pass. Finally got out of the house for a mini weekend vacation, mask and hand sanitizer and all. Just careful and look both ways at the stop signs along the weaving mountain towards the entrance. They have plenty of covid precautions in place. For example, mandatory masks, and they dont pack you in the elevator, instead maintaining social distancing as best they can. The tour guides are entertaining and will answer all your questions. Just be prepared, if you are tall, to do the majority of walking a little slouched, like many of the TN cave and cavern tours, watch your head. The main attraction, the waterfall part, is an awesome, open room, and you can witness the Ruby Fall and feel the mist and air against your face, so pretty cool. Youre pretty high here, and have a cool view of the city for pics, and parking was a breeze, and the gift shop offered an array of rocks and other touristy items. Next time I am in the area, will be checking out Rock City and Lookout - other attractions nearby.

This is my second time, and last time I will go here. Here is why. 1st time it was a new experience and the guide wasnt great but we tried to look past that and we enjoyed ourselves. This second time we tried to do as before and book the bundle with rock city to save money. Also as a veteran in the past they would offer a discount. This time when we went you had to make reservations online, they would not let you purchase tickets inside. So we purchased the tickets online in the parking lot, come to find out they no longer offer bundles. Upper management told their staff that they dont offer bundles cause of covid 19. What the hell do those 2 items have to do with each other. If i was to say the obvious it would be that they are using this as an opportunity to make more money. As a side note no veteran discounts because it is conveniently done online, another win for the company. They next disappointment was not with our tour guide necessarily, she was very good and funny, but they rushed through the tour of the caverns several times we were separated from the group and when we were with the group it was a brisk pace and not enough time to take pictures without getting separated. Sorry to say but our experience at Ruby falls was ruined and we will not be returning.

Very nice place. The tour was a bit rush. Not a lot of info. The rush is coming from over doing this safety covid 19 staff. A lot of usless staff in my point of view. Not sure is their rules or county rules to let them stay open. My guess it would be 1st choice. They could skeep some of the staff. It just drags the day. People that get out in this kind of places arent that concerned with all the useless rules. The cave is beautiful, but not one of the best ones out there. The fall is cool. It is the piece of the resistance of the tour. Without it I wouldnt wast my time.

I visited Ruby Falls with my family 50 years ago and it is as spectacular today as it was then. This is one of Mother Natures more surprising and inspiring gifts. Of course COVID has impacted the tour; the cave is a small, enclosed space so everyone is required to wear a mask at all times and there arent as many guide discussions. The tour starts with a video (inside the cave!) explaining how the Falls got its name and who and how it was discovered. They also have a Friday night Lantern Tour that sounds exciting. This tour is not for anyone who is claustrophobic. It is not a difficult walk and well worth the time and price of admission.
