Loved it here! We booked one of the little cabins and it was very nice and cute. Had a little grill with a fire pit as well. The campground keepers were all very nice and helpful. We did not check out the caverns since we didnt have a lot of time, however, I heard that they are very cool if youre into that sort of thing.

Loved, loved, loved this campground! The kids loved the pool. Everything was super clean. Excellent customer service! When you buy firewood, they even deliver it to your campsite, we dont have that in Florida! We couldnt do the cave tours just because of the mask requirement and my 3 year old not being able to consistently keep a mask on. Maybe next time! We were able to pan for gemstones and everyone thought that was a blast. We bought the biggest gemstone option and split it among our three kids and they all came out with a bag stuffed with a variety of stones. They also give you identification cards so you know what you have. You have to make an appointment for the panning (and the cave tours too, I believe) to adhere to social distancing guidelines, but it also gives you a private experience which we all thought was great. The campground was convenient to other attractions in Chatanooga as well including Ruby Falls and Rock City. Hope to be able to come back and stay here again soon!

Such an fun and scenic place to visit! This was our first time in this area and we just loved the area and the people running the campsite. There was a dedicated site manager that escorted us to our site (sorry, I forgot his name, but he looks like Tony Stark) he was very professional and ensured we had everything we needed prior to him leaving. The cavern tour was about a 2 min walk from our site and the tour was well work the cost. Sam, our tour guide did an awesome job and was very knowledgeable! We would of loved to stay longer but we needed to head back home prior to school starting. If you are in the area, please check this place out!

Found this place online while planning a day trip to Chattanooga (September 2020). In the time of Covid, be prepared to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and have your temperature checked. Reservations are required and tour groups are small, so I suggest calling before making the drive. If you need to kill time before the tour, theres a gift shop on site and a hiking trail at the campground entrance.About the tour... The caverns are very interesting and beautiful! You will see salamanders and cave crickets, stalactites, stalagmites, a shield, flow stone, and other cave features. Our tour guide was very personable and knowledgeable, and we enjoyed what he had to say. You can take pictures on the tour, but no flash if you are photographing the salamanders. The cave holds a temperature of about 58 degrees, so you may want to wear sleeves. If you can, remember to grab some cash so you can tip your tour guide!Note about accessibility: the lighting is very low throughout, so it can be difficult to see. There are steps in several locations -- some slippery -- that are uneven. Handrails are available in most places. There are low ceilings that tall people may need to duck down to pass.

Very clean restrooms and showers. We had a campsite and an small RV site. The layout was functional and the staff were very nice/helpful. If you’re looking for spacious RV sites I’m not sure if this is for you- the larger campers with full hookups seemed like they were right on top of each other. I definitely plan to return in the future since it suited us perfectly and was close to many attractions.

This park has many lovely sites with great views of a big meadow and distant mountains. Our assigned deluxe pull-thru site was one of the worst weve stayed on. We literally had the worst view in the entire park--next to a fitness room building and looking straight into the propane tank and utility yard. We were hosted to the site, but that meant someone in a golf cart leading the way, pointing, and then taking off. Because the site was very narrow, which clearly the host knew, we should have had assistance getting aligned, but that wasnt provided. We had to disconnect and move our toad, drive out around the loop again and make a second attempt in order to pull in. We were still positioning the coach when 4 young staff members came over, I said oh great, we do need some help here. But they were only marveling at the fact that I apparently (unbeknownst to me) had clipped a pole protecting the propane tank while making the second pass. The first words out of their mouth, shouting to me, you trying to paint your coach yellow?? I found their behavior immature and totally unprofessional. At no time did they offer any assistance to ensure we were positioned comfortably. Our hookup area was on uneven ground that required stepping over a logs and RR ties, our water hooked up to a faucet on the adjacent building. One basement door wouldnt open more than 25% because of a tree stump blocking it. The pad was so narrow that with the slides out, we could barely walk between our rig and the very heavy steel picnic table. We did have a lovely campfire and I enjoyed the views when walking around. But no, we were not happy campers. Avoid site #217.

We had a wonderful time visiting Raccoon Mountain Caverns today. We did not stay at the cabins or campground but the cavern tour, gift shop and surrounding area were beautiful. Our tour guide Camille was fantastic, informative, knowledgeable and fun!The caverns are easy to walk through with minimal grade changes or tough terrain. We were warned of upcoming steps, grades or low hanging formations every time.I would highly recommend taking a trip to see the amazing caverns if you enjoy seeing and learning about them. They also offer more intense cave experiences when they can open back up normally. COVID has them running a bit different right now.Amazing experience overall! We are leaving this morning after staying here for a week. It is right in the center of the main tourist attractions like Ruby Falls, Rock City & the Incline Railway. Don’t miss seeing the Chattanooga ChooChoo. Plus there are tons of beautiful hiking trails for all levels. Use AllTrails.com to find them. We had a beautiful site at the campground. They were constantly cleaning ( although the young blond needs a golf cart instead of a wagon to go back & forth to clean the bathrooms-hint, hint). We arrived after Labor Day so the pool was closed but it was hot so I would have liked to see it still open, especially after a long hot hike. The staff were all friendly & loved playing with our dogs. But what impressed us the most was the customer service. That is so hard to find these days anywhere & they have it down. Thank you for that. I would suggest putting paper towels in the bathrooms instead of hand dryers- they are not sanitary & you have nothing to grab the door handle with on your way out. Overall we had a wonderful experience & will stay here again if we are in the area. Thank you to all the staff & to the owners for picking such good staff for a wonderful & much needed vacation. I loved seeing everyone in Tennessee wearing their masks. Good job!!

Managed to get me a space on the site even though it was later in the day. When I arrived at 9pm the staff were helpful in getting me and my rv to my site and running through the setup. Quite time is respected and the staff are visible on site all hours. Free WiFi, water electric and sewerage included. Prices very reasonable. Lpg available and as it was a small top up I wasnt even charged. Had a nice conversation with the two guys helping with that. 10-15 minutes drive to downtown Chattanooga, peaceful locations, easy to find and drive an RV to. Beautiful surroundings.

The caverns were really cool! Unfortunately we just felt rushed through and didn’t really get to enjoy the experience as much as I would have like to for the price. The 45-55 minute trip advertised last only 25 minutes and I certainly think may be attributed to their tours leaving every half hour. All in all it was cool but we left dissatisfied that we weren’t able to enjoy the experience but instead were chasing the tour guide through the cave.

***MORE THAN HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*** This was our first trip out of state and we could not ask for a better place to start that new adventure. We were close to all the fun things to do in Chattanooga with beautiful mountain views, the cavern tour was really fun (our boys loved seeing the sites and finding cave salamanders)-just a wonderful camp environment in general. Early on the staff were already very friendly and helpful, but when our son and his bicycle took a tumble down a hill the staff and owner really went out of their way to take care of him. They kept him (and me) calm and fixed him up, even coming by the next evening to check on him. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip here-can’t wait to go back!

We have always heard good things about this campground; however, we were very disappointed. The sites are very close together with less than six feet between picnic table and neighbor’s sewer drain. It is very crowded and very noisy. The playground was directly across from our site and kids were there screaming until late at night and then first thing in the morning. You must buy their firewood and cannot use your own. The one positive here is that the office staff is friendly and they do deliver the firewood. However, be warned, your fire pit will be next to your neighbor’s sewer drain. If you’re looking for a peaceful and relaxing camping experience, this, unfortunately, is not the place.

Review is for the campground- RVs are too close.. the park is basically just a loop of RV spots. Not really any view. Facilities are really old. There is a lot of stuff close by, but honestly I wish I would have just saved the money and went to a parking lot (really the same thing at this point). Usually at a campground you can count on the fire pit to be relaxing- except its located right next to your neighbors sewer line 6 ft away. I didnt really spend any time at the campgrounds, I would suggest to go elsewhere or even a rest area if you arent concerned with full service.

We visited Racoon Mountain camp ground for the Memorial weekend. With limited campsites open due to COVID-19 we were lucky to get a spot. The staff was great as they greeted us at the entrance and even guided us to our campsite. We had a pull through site with minimal shade and a little closer than what we are normally use to. There are several tent sites along the creek, but no camper sites on the creek. For those who dont camp, there are also cabins available to rent! The campsite is conveniently within walking distance of the caves. We went on a guided tour and had a great time! Our guide was very knowledgeable and made it very enjoyable for my family. We will not come back to this site because we like to be more in the mountains, but this campsite would be great for those who like to be near attractions (cave and downtown Chattanooga).

The campground has no privacy at all. Everybody is right next to the other for tent and campers. They try and make it up by having wood delivered to your site and firepit... dont know if due to pandemic since they only allow one party or 1 person at a time at the store. Five stars for the wild caving tour, four stars for the campground. If you are looking for a wild caving adventure, this is your best option near North Georgia! Wear tough old clothes - jeans and boots and a long sleeved shirt you dont mind getting muddy and wet and just dive in!I took my 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son on the tour during spring break and they were a great age for it. I dont think Id take much younger kiddos as it is definitely dark and even my son was a little freaked to be climbing over a 30 foot chasm at one point! Our guide Darius was terrific, knowledgeable and personable, and helped us all feel like a success as we crawled, climbed, shimmied and squeezed our way through three hours of caving! The park provides you with a helmet and headlamp, gloves and knee pads. Grab some good ones - youll be needing them ALOT!This is NOT the tour for you if you are claustrophobic - one tunnel we went through was called the birth canal and it was so small I couldnt even lift my head up all the way to see where we were going, just kind of scoot like a mole until We reached the end!We came out of the caves dirty and tired but incredibly proud of our adventure!

This place has changed a lot and not for the better. Havent been here in a few years but I am a native of Murfreesboro, Tn, we have been to this campground a dozen times over the past 12 years. It use to be very peaceful. The cabins were on one area of land and the rv park was across the street. Oh not anymore. The rvs are everywhere! On top of each other. Makes me feel like Im in a trailer park, and not a nice one. Kids running around screaming everywhere, dogs everywhere & barking. Not peaceful at all. I guess its all for the all mighty dollar for the owners of the property. Very disappointing. My family and I use to love this place back when the go carts were here and there was pool tables in the building next to the go cart track. We arrived to check in, I told the lady the cabin number we were checking into, she gave me the key and the campground map... Didnt ask for ID or anything. I could have been anyone. But they dont care they got my money because you prepay. I might as well have been a homeless person. I had them put an additional $10 charge on my card for enough fire wood for 2 nights. She said they will bring it right over, ok... No one ever came. I ended up having to walk to the office which by the way closes at 6pm every night, there was a man on a gator who I guess was the after hours employee. He was very nice brought us some wood immediately & even went to get my son a basketball so he could shoot some hoops. So that was nice. Our particular cabin shows a full size leather couch on the website, no couch its flimsy futon that was probably $100 from walmart and has a metal bar running down the middle. I dont know that anyone would want to sleep on a metal bar. $100 a night for this. Go stay in a nice hotel it will be better. This place, price has gone up, quality and peacefulness of a nice quiet campground has gone way down. I seriously doubt we will ever come here again, nor will I recommend anyone else to come here.

Two nights had thunderstorms come through. Camp staff was very attentive to requesting people stow their awnings. Staff is constantly tracking weather which was very comforting. Only complaint is the cost of the firewood.

First time visiting. Stayed 2 nights in cabin 7. Very accommodating for a family of 6. Beds very comfortable. Rooms small and cozy but amazingly very adequate. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 children. No indoor dining table but wonderful large outdoor table and chairs which is where we spent all meals. Beautiful grounds. Family friendly. Lots of things to do. (Cave, trails/hiking, pool, cornhole, ladder golf, basketball area and riding bikes). Quiet campground. No golf carts buzzing all through the park. No loud music. Peaceful. Sounds of nature. Staff extremely nice and helpful. I was impressed to say the least. Will absolutely be back!

We stayed in a premium site with a good view of lookout mountain. The sites are gravel and are pretty close together. All of the staff are very courteous and helpful. It is easily accessed from the interstate. We also participated in a wild cave tour and Jasmin was our guide. She was extremely knowledgeable and was awesome with all of the folks in our group.

This place was absolutely awesome! We went on the Canyon Crawl wildcave tour. If youre interested in caving but not sure how or where to start the Canyon Crawl is for you. Korin, our guide, helped us to learn some important information on what we needed to know to protect ourselves and the cave when caving.

The campground was mediocre, the showers were hot, the cave was excellent, and so was our guide landon. Tippy is a very mouthy but pleasant greeter.

I hate hot weather. I hate summer. Sorry, but that’s the truth. My husband and I both had a day off from work in the middle of the summer, and we knew we’d be getting to Chattanooga right in the heat of the day. Not enough time to invest in Ruby Falls or the aquarium, and I knew I would be miserable if we spent the time shopping downtown. I found Raccoon Caverns on Trip Advisor, and I’m so glad I did! It’s a cool, comfortable 56° in the caverns year round. I just wanted to move there for the whole summer! You should know, that this is an older attraction, and it’s right next to a campground. It’s not flashy or spectacular, but I think it would easily rank as a hidden treasure in the Chattanooga area, and worth the ticket price. Especially when it’s a hot, humid day.

We stayed here for a month last March. Other than the rain, this was the best camping experience that weve had. Beautiful site, lots of room, clean rest rooms and showers and an unbelievable staff. Special thanks to Pam, Josh, David and Adrianne. If you have a chance to go there I would heartily recommend!!!

Really enjoyed our stay. Surrounded by mountains, on one side is Lookout Mountain and the other, you’re looking straight up Raccoon Mountain. Only one issue...the Caverns are closed Monday-Thursday! So plan accordingly. We didn’t know until our arrival. Everyone is very nice. Excellent facilities, WiFi, tv/cable, complete hook ups, and dog park. Well-kept grounds, in the country, yet so close to everything you need in town. Will definitely come back!
