Nice diversity along an easy shaded trail that winds through swamps and a pine forest. The trail is flat and narrow, boardered by lots of poison ivy. feilds and Muddy after heavy rain, but still manuerverable in tennis shoes. A few areas with stairs, boards and tiny hills. Good trail for running as there arent many roots across the path. Has several water features wines through the swamp. It was a quiet peaceful 40 minute walk, no one else was on the trail. Long pants, closed toe shoes and bug spray are recommended.
Its a very simple 1.45 mile loop, however if it has rained recently DO NOT GO this place turns into a swamp after a light sprinkle!
Natural hiking. Love it
There can be numerous deer in the proper spot. Its a respectable stroll spot however there is a whole lot of parks very near there this is breathtaking. Very swampy situations, especially after the rain, so convey your rain boots! There are lots of loos and marshes that contribute to this. The swamp became covered in pinkish-red algae or flowers of some type and became truly quite to take a look at. The trail is grown over in some regions which makes it hard to tell if youre at the trail, so keep your map up. The o. K. Tree this is about five mins into the hike is really worth seeing. Its big and has a variety of history in its twisted trunk. High-quality views of the Tennessee River.
Very Muddy, Not the best place to bike, especially after it rains. and it has a lot of poison ivy so if you want to get, then go there.other than that, pretty good
Beautiful place, always love this short loop
Nice 2 or so mile loop. It was a bit overgrown. Swamp on 1 side and golf course on the other. About half way there is a little spot to down to the river. We had dogs and let them SPLASH around to cool off. Easy, flat walk .
Awesome place to stroll through the woods
Simple walk, pretty trees, does go along with the golf course, but easy for little ones
It was decent just for a walk and a cool view of the marshes, not alot of river views. There can be alot of deer in the right spot. Its a decent walk spot but theres alot of parks very close to there that are breathraking
Not the easiest trail in this area, but a rewarding midpoint river view and great history to take in.
Very muddy. Where playoffs are built in the trail, they dont extends long enough so there are still large sections of the trail mired in mud.
Nice quiet trail that is off the beaten path (haha). My wife thinks that it seems a little creepy to walk alone but seems like a nice beautiful wooded trail to me.
Nice trail. Far enough away from downtown that feels remote but its only a 10 minute drive from the Broad Street area. Nice thick pine Forest that quickly mixes to deciduous. The oak tree that is about 5 minutes into the hike is worth seeing. Its huge and has a lot of history in its twisted trunk. Nice views of the Tennessee River. The trail is mainly flat terrain and easy walking. Wet areas have raised plank boardwalks. Its nicely done and I highly suggest you take a few hours to go check it out
Blue Blazes is a primitive trail and 100% maintained by volunteers (and I am one). Yes, this year due to the weather there were areas that were overgrown. However, we are please to announce that it is now 100% passable and beautiful!Things to understand about this trail:1. It is a primitive, natural trail. This means after a rain, there could be some muddy spots. However, the building of foot bridges is underway by a youth group and is on-going. Much improved!2. Youll be passing alongside bogs and marshes (hence mosquitoes; just use bug repellent).3. The trail is a 1.5 mile loop that passes the river mid-way. One side of the trail is more open and the other more natural with some smaller trails.4. This trail is easily walked and is good for dogs and children (yes, can be slippery in some spots after a rain).Enjoy!
This is a beautiful trail and so close to town! A little sloppy with all the rain but worth a bit of mud on the sneakers. The pink pond was unlike anything Ive seen before!
Great trail, it can be very wet after s few days of rain. Lots of mud lingers around after a rain. There are lots of bogs and marshes that contribute to this.
We hiked it on a rainy day, the water was deeper than 6inch on trail( so wear knee high on rainy days or when has rained). Lots of wildlife to enjoy!! Came almost face to face with a deer. The trail is grown over in some areas which makes it hard to tale if youre on the trail, so keep your map up.(tree had fallen and what i thought was the trail, i was heading in different direction, my husband luckly looked at the map and got us back to the real trail.
Blue Blazes Trail, It is really cool.
A little muddy in places
Beautiful area with so much wildlife
Very dirty.... Needs to be cleaned
Kids and I enjoyed it, we went after a dry spell and it was quite enjoyable. I would for sure wear bug spray around the swampy area.
Fun trail but the recent rain and downed trees has left it a little grown over. This isnt a bad thing just know the trail completely disappears in a few spots so be alert.
My personal favorite. There are some muddy spots but the rest of the trail is pine needles as it loops along swampland, the Tennessee River, the golf course and next to a really cool tree... Well I think the tree is cool :)
Short and sweet trail, but the signs are very informative and the views of the river are pretty.
Not well kept, over grown in many areas. Fallen trees blocking the path at multiple points. There are extremely limited views of the river due to excessive growth. The northern part of the trail, when hit by the right wind causes the smell of the water treatment plant to engulf the hike. There are many better trails in the area. I suggest skipping this one until the area is cleaned up.
I really enjoy this trail. It is now 100% passable with wooden footbridges across the muddy areas. This is a hidden jewel as few hikers know about its long -and sometimes sordid- history; it still needs signage. Aside from that, its a perfect trail for that hike, run, or leisurely stroll.
Too much theft going on out there.
Lots of ticks. Be aware!!
Possibly one of the most boring trails Ive ever been on, lol. At least I know now. The little water area about halfway through the trail was moderately interesting, but around Chattanooga, it just doesnt compare to what is available in the area.
I read so many great reviews that we decided to give this trail a try with our little walker. I ended up carrying him over half the time due to the mud and overgrown trail. It wasnt an enjoyable experience. Plus. MOSQUITOS. I had welts on me by the time we got back to the car.
Probably better when it is drier, expect muddy trails, but its still a nice quick loop trail.
Nice flat trail and well covered. Website says it’s a 2 mile loop, we clocked it at exactly 1.5 miles.
Pretty place long hiking trails
Nice and easy trail.
Fun and fairly easy area to hike.
Awesome little hidden gem!!!
Flat trail. Dense vegetation. Buggy. Not much to see.
After reading the reviews, we were let down to say the least. The parking lot was littered with old trash that had been there a while, and almost the entire area was choked with privet hedge The growth was so thick that during the summer the heat and humidity must be horrid. The entire experience was uninspired.
Very scenic and woodsy.
Short, interesting, diverse.
Awe inspiring
Nice trails
Very beautiful place to hike
Nice
