Great little playground for children of various ages. Theres parking very nearby as well, with seating for if you want to bring something to eat

Excellent and lively park there is always activities. They play area is amazing a lot of slides on all directions a lot of swings you can always find a place where the sun is not warming in the morning when its hot.

I grew up going 5o this park so a lot of memories. Plus cosmetic updates to the park and summer league basketball just add to it. Plus my 1st time ever voting was done at this park!

The pool is open for the kids during summer time. Two basketball fields are available. Tennis courts for the tennis lovers. Rest rooms are located inside the park. You can spend time with your family. Enjoy!

Its home... Close to everything and now- in 2020,its safe ! It didnt used to be a diverse place... At all- [white-friendly]... Now... Id truly say... As a business minded person.. Its a sight for soar eyes! Thats big,coming from me.

Very nice little park for kids to play on. Has a basketball court and 2 play grounds for older and younger kids. Its also very close to UVA so if you cant go in then its a great alternative to sitting in the parking garage

Tonsler park. Has been my Park ever since I was a child! Tonsler park has really grown over the years! I will give that Park five stars the best park ever

Stopped there to eat my take out before getting back on the road. Seem like a great place to sit, read or just contemplate life.

Its a great community place. The playground is always kept up and clean. The equipment is all very much safe.

Wish we could find more green spaces to have lunch in.

Depending on when you go, there are a lot of people playing, and given the state of the world right now, its not ideal. Other than that this is a lovely space to play and run around

Tonsler Park is a better than average urban park. What makes it better than average is that it has a quite large play structure in the middle which works for a range of kid ages. It has some limited free parking, which is also unusual for city parks. It also host Sunday food not bombs, which feeds local economically disadvantaged people. There is building which seems to have class rooms. There is a basketball court and a track for running as well as tennis courts;

I mean its a park. Theres some grass. Theres some tennis and basketball. Some kid stuff.I personally ran in a circle a couple times. It was a perfectly acceptable place to do that

Good sized park on Cherry Avenue. There are a number of playsets for all ages of children. A picnic area as well. Basketball courts. There is also a water park section that is put to good use in summer. There is a little structure that (I think) can be rented for small parties. Dont recall seeing any BBQ grills. Parking is ample.

Great place to hang out with the kids. Free parking lot and basketball courts. Bathroom available for changing for the splash pad - which is timed. No picnic tables for food but benches available and trails around the neighborhood. Traffic is occasionally terrible - especially during football games (to get into the park) but a great spot for small and big kids. Two structures - one for younger children and one for older kids.

Best park in Cville

Great interactive splash pad with some creative and fun water dumpers (you gotta see them). No shade, though, over the splash pad or the playground equipment. There is an attempt to get a row of trees growing, but they are only a few years old, but nothing that would overhang and provide significant cover.

Great park! So much to do for kids ages 2 and up! Will be back very soon! One possible improvement would be more parking. We were lucky to get the last spot in the lot.

This place is truly a gem in Charlottesville especially in the summer.This place is great for kids of all ages and has a wonderful little waterpark for kids can come and play and get cool.Has a wonderful pavilion as well where you can picnic and have events. Large slides, many swings and lots of places to entertain this park is amazing!!!!

Tonsler has a great playground and a new splash park - my kids really enjoy going there. They even like climbing the hill to the tennis courts. The rec center is nice, but the pool table and foosball table could use some repair.

Great place for the kids and a cook out

Love to come here on a nice day and have a walk or picnic or both! When my sisters come to visit they love to play with other kids on the equipment. Definitely a meeting ground for familys and friends in the community, it seems like theres always kids playing here.

Fun playground for all ages... and nice and big. Large variety of things to do. My child picks this playground above all the orhers in Cville.

Attended my grand sons birthday party here last weekend and was pleasantly surprised at the Spray Park addition. Ive seen comments on the sketchy people hanging around without children on the picnic tables under the trees. This park was a hang out mainly for men of he neighborhood, Fifeville Community. With all the regentrification and new urban residents/home prices so high, I just wonder how the community people feel about them seemingly being pushed out by recent upgrades to attract more residents/visitors to this area. After all the strife of Auust 12 I think the City might want to be a little more respectful of the longtime residents.

5th Street park as we used to call Tonsler Park. I grew up in the area. The park has really upgraded. It could use more grills.

The kids and I had a great time. I have 2 boys, 4 and 8. So to find a park they BOTH enjoy is a challenge.

Good place to bring your kids

Great place to bring your kids. They recently renovated the park, so its very nice. They also have a tennis court and a basketball court. There are picnic tables in the shade for those who want to stop for lunch. Inside they have activities for adults and kids. The pool tables seem to be a favorite.

Large park with all the amenities basketball courts slides ect. Bbq pits you couldnt really ask for much more

Great community park for picnics, parties, local basketball or baseball leagues. Great playground. Easy exercise routine running up steps to tennis courts. Rec center not open Sundays, but has activities and computer lab on other days. Two parking lots, one near the tennis courts and another near the rec center.

While visiting from out of town, we stopped here to kill some time. Great playground! Activities for all ages. Shade and seating abundant.

We visited this park several times traveling to visit family and we love it its a lot of fun we had a great family time there

Great play equipment for ages 2-5 and 5-12. A bit of what looked like suspicious activity around the perimeter of the park but maybe not, not sure, but we felt comfortable and our daughter had fun.

I have not seen Tonsler park yet, but when I do Imma post it. Ok just found out I shoot hoops here. Excellent b-ball court, lots of space with shady trees to cool off for relaxing. Right now there is a new play ground park being built. Looks to be very interesting and full of artistic landmarks.

Large, clean, modern playground with a wide variety of structures for a wide range of ages - toddlers to young teens. Definitely recommended for families with young children.Also six basketball hoops in great condition and a rec centre that has table tennis.

Its reasonably clean, comfortable, decorated and maintained. The free breakfast is decent. All in all a good value.

Fun playground and tennis courts. Some people there are a bit loud and drunk. It is a gathering place for low income individuals. But theyve never bothered me, and dont come on the playground when kids are there.

Nice park with great new basketball courts. Also the rec center has pool and ping pong tables. During the summer BCBA has basketball games on Sundays, and the whole neighborhood comes out. Theyre a lot of fun!

Convenient location to play basketball or pic nic it seems. Parking is limited on nice weather days and somewhat difficult to enter/exit during rush hour traffic.

Great facility for climbing and splashing with kids. However, lots of loitering around the parking lot and basketball court.

It can be hard to find great pad thai, and this place has great pad thai. Also, the thai iced coffee is amazing. And the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming.

One of the best playgrounds in Charlottesville and great railings for parkour!
