We do like this day use area. However, the person that lives there that checks on the park and passes is always accusatory and abrasive. Every time we go, we get the pass and park, and generally mind our own business only to be verbally harrassed by the park manager for no reason.

Great day at a local, close to home park. For $5 bucks, how can you go wrong family? Its located downstream from the Allatoona Dam on the Etowah River. Ducks everywhere at dawn and dusk, but no hunting here. The waterway is a tributary of the Coosa River. Two open shelters are available for rent. Horseshoe pits, a sand volleyball court and an open playing field are nearby. There is a Frisbee Golf course, which is fun for all.

Absolutely love the park, but had a very bad experience this evening. We were there several days ago, and didn’t realize that the closing time had changed from 8:30 to 8 (the disc golf times still state 8:30). Tonight, my husband was approached by the individual supposedly in charge of making sure the park is clear in the evening. This individual was immediately and unnecessarily verbally aggressive. My husband was fishing, and the individual approached him, yelling about needing to leave. Had we known the times changed, we would have left by closing, the aggression and verbal abuse was unnecessary and uncalled for.

First time visitor and will definitely go back. Beautiful view and family atmosphere. Park is clean. I brought my 8 year old son and our dog(must be leashed). Beautiful clean water. We fished for a short time and spent the remainder of our time rock hunting. This location of the Etowah River has the only known mineral deposit of Blue Lazorite in Northwest Georgia. Excellent finds that day and a lots of wading and educational fun for my kiddo. Perfect day!

Park is fine, people brought big dogs, and were letting them leash free, be careful if youre visiting with young childrens.

Nice park along the banks of the Etowah River and below the Allatoona Dam. This side costs $5 to enter as it is a pay and park area. The area on the opposite side is free and nice too but doesnt have the same water and dam views. This side has frisbee golf, picnic shelter, restrooms, playground, and several picnic table overlooking the water. See and hear the water churning over the rocks. Cant see that on the free side. Beautiful scenery and spot for pictures. Only complaint was the grass looked rather unkempt which youd think for $5 per car (a relatively new fee) it would be kept up better. Could have been due to recent rainy water. You must park and walk to the water (a few steps away) for the full effect. A ride by wont do it.

We went to the wrong area thanks to my navigator (my daughter) still it is a nice area and the covered pavilion is real nice. We did go on a hike up the blue trail until we got to the yellow trail and we took the yellow trail back to parking area. I never found a boat launch here. Just exploring around the Allatoona lake and Etowah river.

Some of the watch dogs arent very friendly. They need to lighten up and realize they are only there to open and close the damn gate and get over themselves. However, there was one gentleman driving a white truck who was very nice and not so pushy and rude about the parking fee. Also, too many male creepers hanging out ... Not that I have anything to worry about from them since Im a female ... But they are there.... And they are definitely creeping.

Beautiful spot with places to swim and fish. Sometimes the picnic spots are clean. Sometimes not. There was a beautiful level field and a shady grove with tables just at the small creek that was perfect for bacchi and volleyball and badminton, but they gave both over to *one* hole of disc golf. They removed the tables and stopped mowing the shaded grove. Pathetic. They said they brought in the disc golf to up the park usage, which was falling. But the only reason the park usage fell dramatically was because the generation schedule became so erratic that you could never plan an event. No release, high release, even on Sundays. Theyve fixed that. Now the generation schedule is constant and river flow is just mild and perfect for swimming and boating, BUT noone knows it...

Ive been going here 20+ years and have enjoyed the park immensely.. Wonderful place to cook out, picnic or just relax and enjoy the water and nature.. Also has some nice hiking trails that range from easy, medium to hard.. My only gripe about the park now would be the park use fees that are required now to use the park for the day.. Still I love the park and visit every now and then..
