If you are floating or going down the river from anywhere before this point make sure to stay left. There is a grassy area you need to walk your kayak around the dam. There is rebar and a big fall you do not want to go down that spot. Its beautiful

Not to many people know there is two dams on the river. A lot of history is found here. The dam was used to power the old Thompson and Weinman plant. The white rock you see around is calcium. The mineral is used in things as toothpaste to shaving cream. The plant has moved to Alabama where the calcium is mined. Its a shame the old dam isnt used anymore. So many people come to slide down the old dam. At the bottom of the dam is a great fishing spot for striped bass. When they come up stream they cant go any farther. Seen a lot of big fish come from the base of the dam. This is worth a visit and go by the Tells museum to learn more. Thanks

Didnt actually visit this dam but deliverd to the Chemical company right beside it. Was a nice lookin fishing spot. To bad I didnt have my poll with me
