Stunning hike! Challenging but not too difficult, I’d say most moderately fit people can accomplish the climb. Careful if you have younger kids the rocky part of the trail can be tricky. Overall great experience my GSD loved it!

The trail is steep if you take some prominent shortcuts on the way, otherwise a good one of moderate difficulty. The view from the top is so wonderful that we were all so refreshed after spending a few minutes at the overlook and experiencing the breeze. There are nice views of Lake Alatoona from the view point that you dont want to miss. I missed taking my small binoculars with me which would have been good.

Great hike thats close by. Im not sure why so many reviews mention that its steep or challenging. Yes its a small mountain (foothill) but its not Blood Mountain or Rocky Mountain :) I hike all the time and found it to be an easy trail. I had enough time and energy to complete two other nearby trails that same afternoon. Its a good place for a sunrise or sunset hike, but it would also be a good lunch-time hike to enjoy your lunch at the top of the mountain. Its best on a clear day, but also very popular on a clear day (or any weekend day). Aim for a mid-week or rainy/overcast hike if you enjoy less crowded hikes.

Nice trails in Cartersville, so close. Pine Mountain trail is moderate while the Vineyard Mountain trail is more strenuous. Parking lot for Pine Mountain trail was nearly full by 1030am. Bring water and good shoes. Decent view at top, slightly obscured by lower trees, but had a nice breeze on a hot day. Please use the marked trail and full switchbacks to prevent erosion.

Awesome experience. Trails are rugged but fun. Steep inclines all the way. Overlook is beautiful and the trail is well shaded. Ample parking. Better to go early to avoid the heat and excessive humidity. Always travel with a partner as some parts of the trail are risky.

Beautiful trail! We took the red diamond this time, there were some odd parts of the trail where the stairs ended abruptly and the ground below was more than a foot lower. Just seemed odd. Other than that, the trail was maintained well enough. :)

Very awesome trail conveniently located right off 75 exit 288. theyre open from 6am to 10pm and as I recall theres no fee or anything like that. The hike will start out fairly difficult but it will get easier as you get further up. It will take about 25 to 40 minutes for the average person to reach the summit, if I had a guess. Its worth the hike because the view is amazing. I believe I saw downtown Atlanta beyond my view of Kennesaw mountain.

The view is amazing. I visited from Texas and I absolutely loved the scenery. The hike up was a intense. Be prepared to have a constant incline but your views are amazing all the way up. This is a public area so you will always see people passing you but never crowded. Once youre at the top, the views are breathtaking. Once you descend be careful because it goes down fast. I ran down most of the way and made it down very quickly. The trail is maintained and have some spots where it can become difficult so make sure you bring water and a light snack it will help tremendously. There are markers to keep you on the right trail. I really wish I had time to hike through the other trails. I will return.

Great alternative to Kennesaw Mountain for hiking. The trail is good with enough variation of landscape to keep your heartbeat racing and give you a good workout. The views at the top are so worth the hike but it can get a little crowded. I wish they had more benches along the trail for slow walkers. Would go back again!

Awesome trails. Dog and kid friendly. Extremely well shaded and moderate difficulty. There is a fair amount of incline on the way up so be prepared. The West trail head is less than a mile off 75 so its super easy to get to and generally lots of parking. Mostly wide trail well marked with only a few skinny spots. Not a ton of views until you get to the top but then its beautiful. Wish there was a little more space up there but its usually pretty quiet.

I hiked his trail in February, just after it snowed. So it was a very different hike than youll get in th summer! It is a short but fairly steep hike to the summit. Not much over a mile each way. The view from top was great. Its a good place to see the sunset. There is some playground equipment at the trailhead, and when I was there, a port-a-potty. Plenty of parking at the trailhead.

Great hike with a moderate incline. 2 miles round trip if you do the circuit and the Outlook. Amazing views from the top. Shaded most of the way when you have leaf coverage. 4 instead of 5 stars because trails are marked, but a little confusing. It would be better if they had maps that show your location in relation to the whole Trail at each intersection. As long as you study the map before you leave and have a planned route, you will be absolutely fine.I have visited this Trail about once a year for the past 6 years. It is a challenging hike with incline almost all the way to the top. I have always done the West Loop. If you take the left option it is a gradual consistent incline. If you take the right option its has more steep incline combined with some flat areas. We usually do it as a circuit. Most recently hiked in May 2018. It was partly shaded the entire way, which was great because it was 90 degrees. The ground surface is Rocky. It is highly recommended to have hiking shoes, if not tennis shoes. This is not a hike that would be comfortable with unsuitable shoes due to the incline and rocky nature of the trail. There is ample parking (and its free!) I would guess about 60+ spaces. There is a fitness station at the parking lot, as well as an outhouse and some garbage cans. It would be nice if there was a picnic table and drinking fountain as well, but alas, there is not.The view from the top is totally worth it. It always motivates me to stick with it and finish the hike even though its challenging. I once took my 16 year old cousin here. She had never been hiking before, and she was nervous about it. At the end she said that it was a bit challenging, but she was really happy that she did it. She also said that it wasnt as hard as she thought it would be.If you live in the area or a passing by, its extremely convenient to I-75 and an amazing hike in the Atlanta area. Come check it out.

A great hike. Im not a skilled climber by any means. From the trail head, to the summit, and back is just shy of 2.5 miles. If you book it, you can do it in about 45 min. Under 40 if you really push it hard. Ive seen all ages, elderly, to small children with their families on the trails. A great place. I run it every day at lunch. Maybe Ill see you on the trail.

The trail is easy to follow but its rocky at times. Its not too steep but it will give you your daily dose of exercise. There were lots of hikers but it was prima weather (temps in low 70s with breeze) after months of rain so no surprise. The summit was pretty. We did the loop to summit and back in about 1.5 hours with breaks and a stop for lunch.

Quiet trail perfect for short hikes. Round trip to the lookout and back is about two miles with some rugged terrain. Overall theres about a 600ft elevation change. The trail offers plenty of tree coverage in the summer, and a nice open view of nearby Allatoona lake. On a clear day you can see the Atlanta skyline in the distance. Its a great place to go for a leisurely hike and also to bring your dog.Another thing with mentioning is that the West trail intersects the East trail is youre waiting to take a loaner hike.Parking lot is gravel but free. The are not bathrooms, but theres occasionally a porta potty available. The entrance is conveniently near the highway for easy access.

Good trail for mountain style hiking. Lowest point before incline stays wet and muddy for a couple of days after rain, but can step on rocks to avoid mud (about 8 yards). No port-o-toilets in parking lot or near trail. Overlook is worth the hike.

We did the entire figure eight of bother the east and west loops, along with going up to the overlook. It is a beautiful experience! Vigorous trails though, full of switch backs. The West loop trail has 2 paths, the green and the red. The red trail is easier, we ascended the red trail and descended the green. The green trail is more of a turquoise color. All trails are spray paint blazed. The east loop has a white trail, and blue trail, I think. Either way, the white trail is shorter but harder, and the other trail is longer bust doesnt ascend so harshly. It took us about 4 hours, we also sat and had lunch, and even went up to the coopers furnace picnic shelter for the bathroom. Which reminds me, there is no bathroom at the east trail parking, and only 1 port-a-potty at the west trail. Unfortunately that was covered in someones feces on the seat, so the ladies took the TP to the woods while we kept watch. Though the picnic shelter isnt far from the east loop parking, just about a mile up the road. BRING LOTS OF WATER!!! There is some cell service, depending on your cell provider.

This is a great place to enjoy hiking. It is very clean with very little litter. I really really hope it stays that way. Its a beautiful view at the top. Absolutley worth the hike. There are two parking areas (one on each side of the mountain) and 4 trails (two from each parking area). All the trails converge about an 1/8 of a mile from the top. The blue trail is the most rocky and the yellow trail is the easiest. A nice place to go for a few hours or for the day.

Wonderful trail- but the mountain bikers are getting out of control. The bikers refuse to yield to pedestrians- and in areas where the trail is 2ft wide this is creating unnecessary danger. Tempted to use my knuckle taser and zap em just before the try to run me down. Seems the bikers are unable to read signs...
