Gets a little crowded on nice days, but otherwise a good trail. Easy walk/hike, very little elevation change or difficult terrain. Nice shade so it’s not as hot as the concrete jungles close by.There are routes you can take that will have a little more uphill, but it’s not necessary to take those if not your thing. Several low creek crossings, and often some mud and slippery rocks. Wear good shoes. This is an Off-leash dog trail. One of the few still left in Austin. Please do your part to keep it open by picking up your own pet mess, trash, and packing it out.Dogs run and play. They will come say hi to you. If that’s not your thing, read on.Leashed dogs or aggressive dogs, or people who don’t like off-leash dogs should go to the leash-on trail (1/4mile down the road if coming from the city). Please don’t bring a leashed dog to the off-leash trail, and then complain that there are dogs off leash who come to say hi.

Wonderful spot in Austin for hiking with children and dogs. It’s wooded, quiet, and a lovely escape from urban areas. There are several low water crossings so wear shoes that like water. It wasn’t very busy on a late Sunday morning. Those there were friendly, enjoying an outing with their children or their dogs off leash. It is a peaceful, restorative place that you should definitely visit. Highly recommend!

Easy 3 mile , scenic trail. Off lease dogs allowed so please be prepared. There are beautiful small creeks , shaded throughout the trail , plenty of birds to watch along way , well maintained . There is a small parking lot , which is relatively free early in the morning, but get crowded after 10 am. there is a mobile rest room in the parking lot. There are chances to get lost on the way. Better carry downloaded maps and offline maps. Kids age of 10+ can make it.

Awesome trail if you can find parking it’s getting a little bit too crowded there’s only enough space for maybe 15 to 20 cars do you want up having a park on the side of the road but then you also run the risk of I guess getting towed. Not that I could really picture of tow truck making his way all the way out there but used to be they would be with just a few cars few people now it’s quite saturated with New people who are interested in getting out which this is a great place to do.

Saturday was a beautiful day and with the rain that weve gotten in the last few weeks, the creeks were flowing and fairly deep. We went with Cub Scout Pack 442 and all the boys had a blast finding several turtles and some snake eggs along the trail. The dogs all played well together off-leash and while we ran into a few other hikers, I would say for such a beautiful day, the trail was pretty empty. We really had an amazing time and cant wait to do it again.

Its s nice trail but littered with doggy bags. They either need to add trash cans periodically throughout the trail or start enforcing better. The trail is pretty level and would be okay for most skill levels and ages but there are some places you need to cross the creek and the rocks can be pretty slick. Its also a dog friendly trail and I saw many dogs od leash but well behaved. If they clean up the doggy messes, this could definitely be a five star trail.

Great place for a semi-quick easy to moderate hike. Would def recommend some water resistant shoes/hiking shoes as this place can be muddy and has many stream crossings with just a few rocks as stepping Stones to cross. Only down side to this place is that its really busy most weekends. Great place for a dog if they are ok off-leash.

I love this beautiful trail! It takes you through tree branch canopied paths that follow the creek, provides several creek crossings, and with the variety of topographical relief, I feel like I get a bit of a workout. I especially like that my pup can accompany me off-leash. The trail gets super busy on nice weekends making it hard to find a parking place. I prefer mid-week visits when I sometimes have the trail to myself.

Must love dogs! This trail is a dog magnet. They get to legally run free on an awesome challenging trail. This area has some steeper climbs along with some stairs for a great workout. When its dry, the creek bed has great rocks to climb. Our pups are little 9 and 4 lb terrier mixs so the bigger dogs made them a bit nervous. But overall everyone was very polite and respectful.

Very nice hike, not difficult but wear good shoes. The trail gets rocky and several creek crossings are slippery. It can also get muddy. There were lots of dogs off leash. Easy to get lost in the woods. I would have liked to give this trail 5 stars as it was quite fun. However, it is not well marked, and Im not sure how we ended up way north of the top of the trail. If it werent for the compass/map on my phone and the ability to climb fairly steep hills, we almost had to call for help. Once we made it back to the trail, we encountered another couple that had been equally lost. Again, really fun and pretty, but it easily could have gone badly if we had lost daylight or fallen.

A great hiking or running trail that allows dogs to run off leash. There arent any great views but there is a decent amount of elevation change, creeks, and just an overall pretty place. It is very safe and has quite a bit of pedestrian traffic. Dont go if dogs annoy you because youll inevitably pass a lot of them. Its free and on the right before you get to the Emma Long Metropolitan Park Pay Station.

Beautiful, especially considering its proximity to Austin. Heavily wooded with excellent shade. Crosses Turkey Creek multiple times. Would be even better when water is running in the creek. Pretty heavily used, with a small parking lot. Not too much elevation change. Easy to moderate. Smaller spur trails could be marked better. Not a fan of all the off-leash dogs. Seemed pretty kid-friendly.

Good short hike with some elevation. The creek was dry with a few stagnant ponds in mid-November. Im from out of state and was looking to get a taste of the flora and fauna in the area and I guess this is it. There are some interesting rock formations, cacti, and some cool trees. Lots of dogs off leash - which didnt bother me. I was attracted to the hike by the high rating from other users - and maybe it deserves the rating compared with other short trails in the area? GPS says 2.79 miles with 211 ft of elevation gain for the loop.

Awesome hiking path, unless your not a fan of dogs. Very popular for walking dogs and letting them swim in the creeks/streams when they are flowing. The stream level as of Mar 4 is low enough that all crossings are do-able without getting wet. The trail is muddy in a couple places but these are easily avoided. There are a couple points where the main trail is a little tricky to follow because people have made side routes, but you can find your way back easily enough. The forest views are very pretty, and the trail is mostly shaded, so I can see this trail being extremely popular on warm days. There are no bathrooms or water at this site, but it is outside of the pay gate so doesnt cost anything.

At the beginning of the trail (after the first river crossing) take a left for more river crossing or a right for a nice dirt path. They both lead to a loop that goes up to a plateau with beautiful hill country views. I recommend they put up more signage indicating the different paths. Theres not enough parking, and they said theyll ticket you if you park on the side of the street.

Went in June of a semi wet year. The dogs loved the water in the creek. It was overcast to start the walk but even as the sun came out there was plenty of shade for almost the entire walk. To be honest, the dogs seem to be more responsible than the owners on this Trail. Most of the dogs Ive encountered on the trail are super friendly and well-trained. But their owners think that leaving their dogs bags of poop all over the trail for other people to come across is the right thing to do. Its nasty and disgusting. If youre not prepared to take the poop with you dont bring your dog at all. Have some common courtesy and respect for the trail and the people who use it.

Of the parks that people and dogs frequent, this is by far the cleanest one. The issue with this place is that trail winds through the creek way too many times, and there is no avoiding getting your shoes wet without playing the balance game with haphazardly set up rocks that other hikers placed to make a faux bridge. If one visits after a significant amount of rain, these stepping stones would almost certainly be submerged.

Fantastic weekday trail for an off leash hike with your favorite pooch(es). Gets very crowded on weekends, and if you try and go on a weekend afternoon, theres a good chance Emma Long will be at capacity, which means no getting to Turkey Creek either. I highly recommend Turkey Creek for an after work hike on a weekday. Not a ton of people or dogs, almost entirely shaded to avoid the worst of the heat, and unless it hasnt rained in a month plus, there will at least be some water for your pup to splash around in at some point.
