Kernstown Battlefield is fantastic and made better by the excellent and knowledgeable staff.Check hours and events to make sure the location is open.Speak with the staff upon arrival to check for a house and golf cart tour. The staff also provided and excellent talk about the history of the location, battles that occured, and impact on the civil war.Facilities are well maintained with restrooms. Be respectful and if able, donate to support this historical location.

My wife and I are researching the 8th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment so a visit for specifics of the battle was a must. We were not disappointed. The tour guides were proficient in all facets of the battle as well as details of the 8th Ohios role. We are very appreciative. They were patient with our questions and the tour was not hurried or superficial.

We had a great tour guide who shared a wealth of information about this site. She was friendly and very helpful in answering our questions. The buildings and grounds were beautiful, even as some were still in the restoration process. Nice little gift shop available also.

Was greeted by Larry Turner upon arrival and very impressed by the displays and the amount of artifacts! There were cannons and a beautifully done mural. The restrooms were clean and offered bug spray suntan lotion mints they thought of everything! I am not a history buff but the enthusaim and knowledge from the volunteers there today was contagious and had not just the free walking map but a secondary hand out of sorts with so much information we truly enjoyed our day.

I once lived in Winchester for nearly a decade, right across from the battlefield. Love it for many reasons, one being a real world reminder of history. Another is the hills make for excellent views and hard workouts. The staff is kind and willing to help in anyway they can, thank you for being so great and maintaining this beautiful historical site!

Went here on the 4th of July on a lark. We had a picnic lunch and were looking for someplace to eat it. We drove up to the main house and were greeted warmly by the folks running the park. After a very pleasant lunch my family and I explored the battle field a bit and the museum on site a lot.I have to say the quality of the museum really surprised me! Very well laid out with lots of great local information about the Civil War in that area. They were fantastic with my 4 year old son who had a good time. The folks that run the park obviously love the history of it and take great pride in keeping it up for future generations.
