Visited 16 wineries in the area over the past couple days. During the Covid restrictions it can be a mystery as to how different wineries are operating currently.Place was very clean and staff was helpful. They only had 4 wine choices when I visited and only one red. They are offering bottle and glass sales.

Have been visiting Virginia for years (we are from New Yorks wine region) doing wine tastings, and had been recommended as a place to try by several other wineries. Finally was in the area and stopped in. Beautiful setting and building. Kyle was fantastic! Super friendly. The wine was as excellent as we had hoped! Just wish we could have chosen our own wines. We are far from novices at wine. I understand the members club, but as we live 6 hours away, its not feasible for us. But overall a great experience, they did not disappoint!

My friends and I recently stopped at James Charles Winery over the weekend for my friends bachelorette party. We didnt call ahead since we were only a group of five. The winery was fairly busy when we arrived. However, the staff had excellent customer service and did a great job communicating to us when we would be able to get a tasting. Everyone was friendly and we were so happy we made the stop here! They even comped our brides tasting! Thank you James Charles Winery!

James Charles is by far the best customer service winery we’ve ever visited...we have a few winery subscriptions but none of them provided a delivery service. The bonus...the wine is really good!!! We’re VIP forever!!!

It made me very sad to have previously given a negative review to this excellent and relaxing winery. My wife and I make the trek from DC to this winery at least once a month in the summer, and its certainly worth it. Very relaxing atmosphere with some great white wine.The owners care very much to uphold excellent customer service despite having the occasional unpleasant employee in the tasting room. When met with a dissatisfied customer, the management works very hard to rectify a negative situation.There are some great wineries in this region of Virginia, and this is not one you want to miss.

We had a wonderful time seated at their vintners table. Best Virginia wine I’ve had so far. Our host made the experience memorable. We plan to do this again.

We appreciated the hospitality and laid back feel of the winery. The wine was very good and as someone who more of a beer brewery person rather than a wine person, this was great experience to get introduced into the wine world.

I rarely give 5 stars, but if you enjoy French or German style in a steel barrel, youll enjoy this wine.... very clean, fruity taste.

Excellent wine, five star service and beautiful property. Their wine club is one the best values in the area. If you’re out this way be sure to check them out or even make the trip just to see them it’s 100% worth it.

Good wines. Small selection. Server was not very enthusiastic and the prices were slightly on the higher end. It was a hot day and the air conditioner was not on. Overall go there for the wines and ambience. Avoid if you are looking for a bargain.

The place has great views and wine. Food is also very delicious.

Wonderful way to spend a Friday night. First and foremost, our pourer (Megan, I think) was awesome. She was so friendly and enthusiastic that you couldnt help but enjoy yourself and have fun. The wines were very good and they have awesome 3fires pizza. Its a perfect way to spend a night, sitting on the nice patio, looking at the view, and enjoying pizza and wine. I recommend going early for friday night pizza because we werent the only ones enjoying it.

Debbie does a great job. All the wait staff are wonderful. Love the reds, and even the whites. Great gathering place for friends. Atmosphere is upscale and warm, friendly, and inviting. Purchase a membership and bring friends for tastings. You will make new friends as well. Very veteran friendly!

I love this winery so much. The people who work there are fabulous. Their tastings are not expensive. For me, the white wine are really delicious. We went on a Friday, when they were selling Coal fire pizza from a food truck. I have to say the pizza was delicious.

I love the winery very friendly staff . However when you are member and are told these are the wine your getting not so good I don’t drink red wine why would I pay for red wine if I don’t like it. I understand if I was replacing it with a higher end wine but I’m either doing it for less or equal value. I will be cancelling my membership.

We arrived at the winery around 6:20 and the first thing we were told is “our kitchen is closed” no “hello” or “welcome”. I told them it was fine because we just came for a tasting. The woman pouring the wine was very friendly and caught up with the people doing the tasting next to us. I wish she tried to have the same connection with us but it seemed she had no interest in us. We actually have a membership at Veramar which is way we wanted to try their other wines. But I won’t return again due to the experience with the tasting room associates.

Tasting room was esthetically pleasant but the menu should be expanded if they would like guests to stay longer and drink more.

So nice and fun. Accommodating staff.I just love going to James Charles...its like instant relaxation.

Only 2 girls staffing wine tasting bar on a night promoting pizza & music. Waited in line just to buy a bottle for 1/2 hr...there was no way to buy a bottle without waiting 4 wine tasters to finish. No other staff to be seen. Sorry, but will not be back....

Always had excellent service during multiple visits. Wine is excellent, and the food is good.

We stoped by last night to try the winery out we were first greeted at the door by the wonderful staff and they were a fantastic during our visit we will be returning in the near future highy recommend

Really like the winery but they werent prepared for a busy Friday evening. Staff couldnt handle more than one patron at a time and only one staff member could handle payments. Extremely long wait to get served and they werent particularly gracious about it.

Had a wonderful time today enjoy the staff and people here are willing to help you as much as possible .

What impeccable naming.

This place is amazing. There is ALOT of wineries in Virginia and to keep business you really need to stand out. James charles does a great job with that by having great custumer service, a cozy atmosphere, and stellar wine. The set up is good if you wanna bring kids (they can run around outside)....or a girls night.... Or a date with the husband. Always have a good night with great memories. Also, the membership is reasonably priced and you do get alot for it. Discounts on wine and food, friends can doing tastings for free, and nice close parking. I could really go on and on. You just need to visit yourself!

Bacon blue cheese french fries, live music, and wine? Cant go wrong! Bocce ball is a plus. Good view. I was not a fan of the Petit Verdot.

I have been to 101 vinyards in Virginia and this is one of my favorites as far as how the wine tasted!! Also i enjoyed the fires nice and warm in the winter.

I was not impressed with the wine or the service. The place is beautiful, however, the wine hostess I had was not attentive. She rushed through the wines and was all over the place. She would pour and walk away. I honrestly couldnt wait for leave.
