Wilmington’s DuPont Center for Environmental Education is the largest facility of its kind in the state. Its convenient urban setting makes it an excellent option for those visiting Pike Creek or just passing through on the way to the beach. The center’s grounds are comprised of about 200 acres that include long stretches of the Christiana River, forests, and freshwater marshes. They’re home to an impressive variety of animals and birds that are commonly seen from the well-marked trails. The indoor portion of the facility includes interactive exhibits that are both engaging and educational. Admission is reasonable as well.

This is a beautiful place for a walk. ADA accessible paths into the marsh. Great place to explore nature in the heart of the city.

Deceivingly small plot of land that features architecture you would find from a pre-Corona world. The bathrooms were locked, so keep an eye on the liquid levels for real. Unfortunately there are no more ostriches or penguins, however the flowers are quite beautiful. The shorty recommends.

Well actually me,and the family went walking on the trail down the Riverfront, and it was really nice.We didnt worry about social distancing considering it was a lot of people down there because, the trail is so long, and people werent close to each other. We enjoyed ourselves, and it wont be our last time there.

Discovered this free urban wildlife and nature refuge after walking about 1 mile from the Delaware RiverWalk shopping area. The center exhibits were closed Monday when we visited but the boardwalks and trails were open. Its reclaimed from an industrial area of the Christina River.

Cool place to see some wildlife, especially because its so close to the waterfront. Good for kids under 7-8, as it is small. You can spend about 2 hours or so here. There is a nice running path along the waterfront that ends here.

A very pretty building next to a lovely boardwalk over a freshwater marsh just off the split of the brandywine and christiana rivers. A great place to enjoy a little stroll there is a footpath that connects it to riverwalk complex and frawley stadium. Lots of industrial development surrounds this nature preserve, my visit was punctuated by the clanging of huge pieces of metal from across the river and occasionally yelling men. I also saw the new castle county rowing association come back to their landing, that evening and that was pleasant. This is a great start at what one day will be a great area as land values rise and the industrial uses are pushed further south.
