Nice monument, thought it was a park full of history. It is actually just s statue and plaque with description of the event surrounding the memorial.

If we dont study our history we are bound to repeat it. This part of our history is so well hidden. People who visit Wilmington have no idea this ever happened. Hopefully, the day will come when our school children, across this country, are taught about the coup that took place on American soil.Places like this need to be brought out into the open.

Nice little park providing information of the massacre in Wilmington. Racists are a bane on society.

A memorial to the only successful coup d etat in the United States. A book to read about it is Cape Fear Rising by Philip Gerard. The story behind this memorial is sad and amazing at the same time.

A most important tribute to a very dark moment in Wilmingtons history and, indeed the nations. The 1898 riot, coupe and resulting effects squelched significant movements by Republicans to afford equality to those who had not experienced liberty, entrepreneurial opportunities and elected political responsibilities. It should be a must do to visit the 1898 Memorial, read the plaques and reflect upon its historic significance.

This Is A Small Tribute To Those Who Lost Their Lives During The Massacre Of 1898. It Gives A Brief History Of The Actions That Lead Up To The Massacre. It Is An Important Part Of History That Most Would Like To Remain Hidden.
