Nice park with shade, fields, water, and play equipment. We always have a good time here. Most services are close to the parking lot making them very accessible. Some paths are paved, but parts near the river and pond are wide dirt trails and some routes require travel up or down slopes to reach water level. Facilities (pavilions, playground, grass, ball park, etc.) are usually well maintained. We often encounter dog walkers, families, and older couples. Walks near the river offer interesting signs about the history and former activities at the site.

Great to see the old history of the land. Everything is marked nicely to show you where things were. Small billboards a photo or two and a little write up of the old attraction or facility. The remains of the old amusement park are not handicap accessible due to the terrain. There are two streams one a little larger than other that kids or dogs can splash around in.

A little gem, literally in the middle of a busy, bustling area. It is the site of an early 1900s amusement park. None of the buildings or rides have survived, but foundations abound, and the curators of the park have marked off (often in the middle of fairly dense woods/underbrush) the locations of virtually everything. Each location has a sign on the trail with a photograph of that building/ride/attraction that once stood and a written narrative. By the time we left, it really felt like we were able to visualize what the amusement park looked like 100+ years ago. It was very, very cool, educational, historical. On top of that the park has abundant wildlife-- we saw several LARGE snakes sunning themselves near the creek (2 of which were on top of a beaver dam/lodge), many turtles (large and small), fish, geese, ground hogs, and loads of birds and squirrels. In a couple of spots the trails up and down from the creek/pond area are fairly steep, but they are groomed, packed trails so they are easy to navigate.

This is a quiet park. It is great for walking and thinking, great for dogs, and behavior from humans and animals pleasant. There are pavilians with large grills for groups and instructions for cleanup. Ball diamonds get used nights and weekendsThere is a lot of history in that park and it is worth walking down to the old dance hall and pond site. Signs and pictures have been placed by the Friends of Brandywine Springs who continue to fix things. It is well worth spending a couple hours there at least once. Careful. It could become a habit.

Brandywine springs is one of my favorite parks in northern Delaware. It has a playground, basketball court, a couple of baseball diamonds, pavilions, and hiking trails. The hiking trails go down near the creek where there are a number of historical markers that reach you about the history of the park. If you like exploring, this is a great place to do so.

This well kept new castle county park is quite a gem. There used to be an amusement park and hotel on the grounds a hundred years ago and the hotel dates back much further. Friends of Brandywine Springs has posted signs and pictures throughout the park showing where every structure and ride used to be. This includes a pic of my great grandfather! (Very cool)The park has open space for picnics, pavillions for group picnics, softball field and a large wooded area with stream and pond where the amusement park was. I prefer the wooded area for a picnic and let the children play in the stream.Park is open dusk to dawn.

Beautiful park with nice trails for aerobic hiking or just a blast from the past along the creek basin where placards mark historical sites of old Brandywine Springs Boardwalk of 100 years ago.Updated playground set and basketball court. Beautiful pavilions on rolling landscape available for rental.Creek trails lead to a railroad track which makes for some pretty cool photo backdrops. The track is active for the Wilmington Western Railroad (entertainment).

General Washington and General Lafayette met under Council Oak a tree that still stands today . While the Continental Army dug trenches the decision was made to move further north. An elegant 100 room was built where the parking lot is. Its main attraction was the Brandywine Chalybeate Spring which was visited three times a day to take a drink and enjoy the wooded grounds. The remains of the Brandywine Amusement Park can be accessed by pleasant paths.
