Beautiful old place. Love all the stone work. Definitely want to go back in the spring. The gardens are very pretty but I bet there amazing at springtime. Wish we could have seen the house better. You can image how magnificent it must have been in its day.

Really neat garden with a bit of creepy feel to it. I loved the rooftop greenhouse and broken statues. Small and quick, but free. The frogs guarding the pond were neat.

The place was amazing. I wish we could have seen more, but we were not allowed into the mansion. The house is deteriorating but it is made of stone, which is absolutely beautiful. It just needs a little bit of love to make it gorgeous. The gardens and grounds are absolutely beautiful.

An amazing treasure! You may have seen historic gardens before but nothing like this! Peaceful and refreshing!

Weve visited several times for photo sessions and although the grounds are unkept, it adds to the overgrown, Secret-Garden-esque feel to the place.Tip: Dont visit on a spring/summer Saturday - you will run into 17 bridal parties having their photos taken at the famous iron gate.

Wonderful hidden gem of a place with quaint garden areas. Perfect for a picnic or a romantic stroll. There are fountains ️ and even goldfish in the large pond. Good spot for intimate weddings.

This is a hidden gem in Wilmington! Behind the high stone walls that border these historic gardens, lies a little bit of paradise. Has an old world European feel with its statues, fountain, sculpted rod iron gates and reflection pool. Its absolutely beautiful during Spring, when in full bloom! It truly is a secret garden!

Beautiful place, but it doesnt seem like its very up kept as much as one would hope... But in all honesty, it adds to the entire experience and feel of the place. Its small, but there are plenty of hidden gems compacted in such a small area. Its worth going once at least for yourself, and then bringing people there who would appreciate it later.

Several places to sit, take in nature and forget your in the city. Lots of photo ops - the house is in a state of disrepair/partial ruins but you can still see how grand it once was - take a zoom lens -close access is roped off

Many options for backdrops. The unkempt nature of the garden is stylistic; if you want perfectly manicured backdrops, this is not the place for you.Pro’s: heavily shaded with a variety a beautiful, aromatic flowers that vary from season to season, natural backdrops with aged statues and stonework, several paths for different shots, photogenic location- pictures will look better than you think.Con’s: relatively popular (esp prom season), parking feels like you’re at someone’s house, most of the property is now inaccessible, none of the facilities are maintained, no bathroom

Very nice place, beautiful and perfect for photo shots. Bad things are - a huge territory is under police k9 training facility so you will not get there, there is no access to mansion itself and this place needs some work to do - broken lights, bushes... Very nice place but needs some investments

This is the Gardens on the grounds of what used to be the Sharp estate in Wilmington Delaware. The house and the gardens are both a little bit run down and the city has been trying to find a use for this property for many years, and nobody seems to want to give it a try. The gardens themselves are very beautifu, l although quite small, and it is a very popular place for wedding pictures!

Wish I had known I could park on the property. I also did not know how to find the house. But the gardens alone are worth the trip. The grounds are barely maintained, if at all, but it adds to the ambiance and mystery of the property. A nice, quiet, peaceful place to contemplate life. Or listen to loud frogs.

Lots of character and allure. Great for interesting photography and history. Not very large so easily doable in a short visit.

In a strange way, I hope that few people learn of this place because it would not be enjoyable if it were crowded. Some places are best enjoyed in quiet and relative solitude, and this is one of them. Of course, if you want to take in quiet beauty, thus is the spot for you.

Taking into consideration that there is probably little to no funding for upkeep, you don’t go here for a well-groomed garden, you go for the touch of decay. There is beauty in ashes and the juxtaposition of blossoming in decay brings an artful enigma. Great location for a photo session.

Seems to be beautiful gardens but a man who I assume lives on the top floor comes out and says its too early to be here, when in fact the hours are sunrise to sunset. He went on telling me, in a irritated tone, that its too early and I need to be more considerate. I have never been there before, it is public property therefore he has little to no say though he thought intimidating me would do the job.I let the people who I was meeting there with know. The man still came down to make sure we all knew he was angry that we were there at sunrise. He then said it was private property, which is not, and that the owners need to change their info on their website. This was incredibly rude and uncalled for. The has no say what the state says on their info about the hours. I advised him to contact them because its not our fault.Completely disappointed they would let someone be there who scares people off.
