I want to come back every season - if you live local (50 mile radius) buy the season pass, its a few dollars more but worth the extra money, plus youll want to come back! If the ticket booth lady told us a season pass was a few dollars more we would of taken the plunge, oh well next time. The follies were creative and beautifully crafted, the grounds meticulously maintained and the home is outstanding. Our guide was super friendly, knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Bring your walking shoes, fancy camera and outdoor gear, there are treasures to be seen around the grounds you dont want to miss.

We expected to spend just a few hours here and wound up staying five! The gardens are beautiful and the house tour is incredible. Also, the grounds are very easy to navigate if youre mobility challenged - they have plenty of shuttles, elevators, and even a garden tour by bus. Many routes have alternatives if stairs arent an option. We went the weekend before memorial day and the weather was perfect and there were hardly any crowds or wait times. The food is also very good, reasonably priced, and has a lot of healthy options if you want to stay for lunch.

Sure, they have a 175 room mansion, which is fine and interesting and all that... But the reason we are members, (and drove 45 min to go there twice last week) is because the grounds are fantastic. There are trails and paths that criss cross all over the property, allowing you to walk through a carefully planned wild garden that is peaceful and beautiful in all seasons. Free parking, members can walk after hours, whats not to love?

Wintertur is the result of a rich mans folly. The main mansion has hundreds(!) of rooms furnished in many different historical styles. The guided tours can only show the smallest bit of this huge architectural marvel. The ground are lovely and peaceful; theres no traffic noise at Wintertur. Many paths wind thru the groundsThe staff members are most cordial and helpful. Be sure to take the tram tour for an excellent overview of the extensive grounds. There is a pleasant cafeteria, if youre hungryWell worth a visit!

Great attraction with something for everyone in the family from young children to adults. The house of the DuPont family and the grounds are a treasure of the Delaware Valley. There is always something to see year round, the beautiful changes in the gardens, the House decorated for Christmas. The childrens garden is charming The museum has an excellent collection of American furniture and design. They also have frequent special exhibitions that are well done. They have interesting lectures. They also host the annual Point to point race, always a fun and exciting day. If you live locally get a membership like we have. If youre visiting the area definitely include it on n your trip.

One of my favorite places to spend a sunny weekend afternoon. I just bought a membership here because I figured after going three times in less than a month, it would probably be worthwhile. I love bringing my camera here - every time Ive been, I see something new that i didnt see the first time around. Theres some really interesting history with this place that youll learn if you take the trolley from the visitor center to the museum. Some of the trees they have there are the tallest and most magnificent trees that I have ever seen. And if you have kids, they will love Winterthurs Childrens Garden. Just wear your walking shoes, because you will be doing a lot of walking.

It is utterly beautiful. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and kind. All I would ask is for those visiting and taking the guided tours. A combination of exhibit galleries and mansion rooms decorated as they were once used by part of the DuPont family. In addition to their own items on exhibit in the galleries, they also house travelling collections. I have seen Downton Abbey and The Crown costume exhibits here. The rooms are filled with antique furnishings and collections of ceramics. The garden tram tour is also worth taking and tea in the tea room is a delight. I enjoy the combination of passions that DuPont brought to this estate and the foresight to make it accessible to the public. The house and the collection of antiques is intriguing to say the least. The grounds and the diversity of plantings ensure that there is something to enjoy year-round. What an incredible place, and to think that one man had the wherewithal to envision, build, and oversee it. This is as close as we come in America to experiencing royalty.
