Awesome mind boggling sight to see humongous sized boulders piled together. Boulders are a medium course sand composition that provides grippy surface for climbing. The walk from the parking lot is easy. The last section necessary to access and see the Arch Rock formation is of medium difficulty if youre in decent physical condition. Older Elementary age children likely need to be strong and agile. Some areas require a squeeze through. Much of the last leg to access and see the Arch Rock face on requires climbing. Doable with flip flops which I wore. Shoes are much safer for mounting up onto rounded boulders. A 24mm lens on a full frame 36mm camera can capture the Arch Rock. A panorama of three horizontal widths with the 24 mm lens is impressive. If walking in the August 100+°F heat, a nice broad rim hat and sunglasses help. Bring and drink lots of water.
Awesome little hike! Kids will love to explore here.
The trail disappears after about 50 feet. Fortunately I heard some talking to the East and did boulder scrambling to find it. Only took about 10 minutes to get to it. Great to see, but good luck.
The arch is great .. the trail not so much .. directions are not clear with no clear markers to telling how far you are .. thats the problem with the entire JTNP trail system
I hiked this trail early morning. Such a peaceful beautiful place. Lots of amazing rock formations
My favorite hike in the entire park! If youre camping here, this is definitely the best spot to explore. There is not a lot of parking otherwise, so get here early! The trail is relatively short, but it offers a lot of opportunities to hike and spend a whole day. Definitely watch the sunrise and sunset, the lighting is superb!
It is best spot for kids to learn nature.
Good place but lots of bees
Easy trail for all ages
Beautiful spot!
Climbing all over these rocks was the highlight of my visit at Joshua tree! Didnt run into any rattle snakes but Im sure theyre out there. Saw a couple bunnys and unique lizzards. Dont forget to stop at appreciate whats out there. Joshua tree was very clean, lets keep it that way!
On my motorcycle I rode straight thru,So all I can speak to is the beautiful view. The folded rock jutting towards the sky,the arthritic Joshua trees demanding your eye.The views are many in this southern Park,So leave the highway. Treat yourself to a lark.
Trail is a nice short walk that can be taken from either a parking lot off the main road, or from the nearby campground. Arch rock itself is pretty great, however the trail there is pretty great and just as good as the destination. No toilets at the main parking lot, however the nearby campground does have a pit toilet. Be sure to bring extra water!
Must see point in Joshua tree national park.. the arch is near parking like 5-10min walk...go here first instead stopping anywhere..this is main jewel of the park....the rock trails are beautiful and you can literally spend 1-2 hours here.
Beautiful views. Lost horse trailer is probably the best one in the park though.
An unmissable trail.
Easy but nice hike
We totally lost the trail for 20 minutes, walk way too far and loved it! There are many slits to explore and lots of picture opportunities. (In the end we did find the Arch)
Cool information placards on a very short trail.
Awesome area to camp, hike & climb rocks, pretty far from the rest of the attractions so its never crowded. .
All those stars...
Fun
Really enjoyed this trail. Its about 0.5 mile to get to the arch and then 0.5 miles back
