Don’t miss discovering the Old School Museum and all the Twentynine Palms Historical Society has to offer. This all volunteer community organization has worked hard to provide a rich sampling of the local and regional history with interesting displays and knowledgeable docents. The early homesteaders needed a school for their children in the wilderness of the Mojave Desert. They volunteered their labor and resources to provide for the community need to build a school. That one room school house, primitive but functional creates the foundation for the museum. You will enjoy learning about the heritage of native Americans living in the area, the gold miners living the American dream, and homesteaders struggling to carve out a new existence by building a town. The featured displays change regularly to showcase different historical themes. The annual “Weed Show” of found desert objects of beauty occurs in November. The gathering of Old Timers is held in conjunction with the Pioneer Days festivity’s in the third week of October. If you’ve never visited, make time to spend a couple of enjoyable hours and get the tour. If you haven’t been in a while stop by again to see what’s new. You’ll find this a very worthwhile venue for local history.

This place is full if surprises. It has an interesting museum and awesome gift shop. The docents are extremely happy to teach and welcoming.

Absolutely the most informative museum Ive been to in years. They have such an eclectic mix of history its an absolute treat to walk through.

Very nice experience so many antiques and visiting here gave me a clear understanding about the history of 29 Palms. The gentleman who works there is very knowledgeable.

Great grounds to explore. Neat old school house atmosphere. Small display area. If your in a hurry you can see most of it with in a half hour.

An interesting place where you can learn about the history of this area. They have many artifacts on display, as well as a knowledgeable staff who can answer any questions you may have.
