Great place for lunch at the park and nice little walking trails. I take one star away only because of all the construction and clean up that is continuing to go on. It closes half the walking loop and is pretty disruptive.Im sure itll be nice when done, but I wonder how much of this construction couldve been done during spring/fall.

The tumwater falls is a Beautiful park!!! Been going here since I was small and it had always been fun, stunning and safe! You can always bring the whole family or go alone for some peace and quiet and not having to worry about anything sketchy! The different seasons bring a new scenery and its lovely. I actually had my senior photos taken here years ago and the falls was a flawless background. I love this place and that it is right in my backyard to enjoy!

Kid friendly this place is awesome for the view and beauty! Parking is free and open, most of the time the lot is not even partially full. There is a park a little further down that the kids can play on equipment and have fun running around. Bonus: Salmon spawning here and how absolutely gorgeous it is! Lot of people having photos done while we were there.

Always love walking the park and seeing all the waterfalls. Easy walk, some stairs and hills, pathways are loose gravel/dirt. Restrooms are always clean as well as the park. Staff always on site to answer questions and talk about the history of the park. Definitely a great way to spend a half day in Olympia.Photos: darlenestewartphotography

This is a beautiful place and the number one piece of history for this entire location area. However it is in need of Maintenance and upgrade. Unfortunately instead of maintaining and upgrading the facility its been scaled back slowly over time. The entire Community contributed to building this and having it as a park and a local Education Center. It is as I said a beautiful place to visit and Ive been scored more stars if the community we pull together and bring it back up to its previous presentability or contribute to increasing its viewing pleasures and amenities for all visitors.

Definitely worth stopping by, even if youre just passing through! Theres a one-way parking lot and a loop trail that takes you downriver and back, with interesting viewpoints and historical information. There are benches to rest along the way and the path was manageable for strollers. This also seems to be a popular spot for nature or portrait photography.

I love this little gem in the middle of the bustling area of Olympia and Tumwater. When you walk the whole trail, you are almost teleported to a different world that feels so secluded from the hustle and bustle of the world around you. There are some pretty interesting plaques that explain the history of the falls from the late 1800s with the old Mill that was there, the power station, the original capital brewery, through the Olympia brewery, which closed in the early 2010s. There is a cool fish ladder where you can even watch the salmon spawn if youre lucky to be there during the spawning season. Very cool!

Very beautiful for fall! Very orange aura. The only sad part of the journey around was seeing the dozens of dead fish.. maybe maintenance on the water would be very beneficial. What a great, somewhat hidden, place. First the falls, which are quite small, are still fun to watch. Then the river and fish ladders give a rustic view of nature (under the control of people) continues to exert itself. The pathway is well maintained and it appears the city is making improvements to the facilities. There are multiple places along the path for pictures. Keep your eyes pealed for fish in the river.

Nice community park at the falls in Tumwater. Located between the old brewery and The Falls resturaunt. Great place to take kids and visitors because of the short and easy walking loop / trail. The lower falls and bridge offer awesome picture opportunities. First few weeks of September are usually best for viewing Salmon migrating. Restrooms are usually open at the picnic area between the upper falls and the parking lot. Please consider a thumbs-up if you found this post to be helpful.

Any time of year, Tumwater Falls is a wonderful place for a walk. Today, even with the salmon gone and extensive construction going on, my guests and I still enjoyed the fabulous beauty of the Falls, with the moss covered rocks, which are like sculpture from years of tumbling water. My (grown) daughter and I have even decided to come every 3 months, each time she visits. We love it that much. And during the salmon run, its an unforgettable experience - like my first time there. :~]

This is an interesting park with more than just a beautiful walk along the river. Don’t miss the fish ladders, the bridge to a closer view of the historic brewery, and take a picnic so the kids can play hard at the playground. If eating out is more your style you are in LUCK! Eat at The Falls Terrace restaurant, a local favorite. The views are impressive but the place is full of family charm. While this park is a great spot to bring your out of state company, it’s a local favorite! There’s quite a bit of construction going on now so 4 stars- but when the trail is complete and other improvements done- I’ll be back to update.

What a find! Great little spot to walk or run. Has its own beauty at different times of year as water levels and foliage change with the seasons. Kids and I loved both the thundering and sprinkling falls over winter. One feels miles away hidden within all the trees and there’s a cute little playground at the top within Falls Park and new much larger one at the very bottom within Historical Park. You can take a short loop or tack on a visit to the historic park further along. We love this gem.

I will always love Tumwater Falls Park! I spent so much time here as I was growing up! They have two concrete play boats set in sand that my grandson now loves to play at. There is a beautiful walking path loop that is very relaxing for adults but allows lots of room for kids to blow off steam. At the bottom, the midday point, there is a platform where you can stand at the falls. On a hot day, its refreshing to walk out to feel the spray. If you want, you can get soaked! There is a fish ladder, too, that you can walk over, on metal grates. At the right time, youll be able to watch the salmon coming home to spawn. Nice public restrooms. I attended a summer wedding here once, it was a beautiful event.

If the parking lot is full inside, there is parking off the road as well.
