This place is the heart of Taos. Lots of great shops with unique items. Hard to find a parking spot sometimes and its metered now but lots of fun to visit. Buskers are usually playing music on the square too. I always hit the square when visiting there

Went to Taos for the day. The old town center was nice. It was filled with art galleries, t-shirt shops, cafes and tourist type places. Main problem is the virus panic has several shops closed and others limiting entrance. In the public restrooms there was tourist go home and wear your mask on the way. Seems New Mexico has embraced the panic and in not a very friendly place right now.

It is fun to walk around and see the Adobe type buildings and places on the historical registry. Shops are very overpriced! There are some beautiful art galleries that display art from amazing and well known artists! I glad we went to get a feel for Taos! It seems that time slows down here. A very natural type of town with lots of dirt driveways and lots and Spanish and Indian history!

I was really disappointed with Taos. I guess I was expecting something like Aspen or Telluride. You hear of all of the stars that live here, but dont hear about how depressed of a little town it is. Nothing like I expected. Only a few blocks of shops (being generous) and everything was really dirty.

Many things sold are made in America, by indigenous folk and cowboys. But check the labels, as India and China are also doing good business in some of Taoss prominent trading posts. Photo was from day 1 of Taoss annual Indian gathering streetfair.GET THE CORN BOWL.
