This small museum is an architectural gem. The Fechin House itself is a joy to roam, with its comfortable, sunlit spaces and authentic appointments. Do not miss the upstairs! Go up the hand-carved spiral stairway and visit perhaps the best rooms in the house.

Very interesting history about Mr Fechin and the art work he did, including the amazing carvings he made and added to his own home where the museum is now located.

DO NOT MISS THIS! The dual story of Russian Nicolai Fechin and American Marjorie Eaton were both so interesting. Fechins hand crafted home and family portraits displayed his dual talents. Similarly, Eatons portraits and stories of her acting career were extraordinary. Their tragic personal lives unified the two stories.

Art was wonderful, of course , but the house and the carved furniture by Fechin were the stars. Interesting stories of the artists. Seriously--really loved wandering in the rooms of this adobe abode and imagining how they used the space. Sun porch on 2nd floor was really inviting!

Beautiful house full of hand-carved wood work by the artist. The grounds are nice and are a quiet and pleasant place to relax. The traveling exhibit (Majorie Eaton) was well curated and enjoyable. The number of works by Fechin were limited but were a nice sample of his art. I enjoyed the house most of all since it has not been updated but contains many period furnishings as well as many of the original pieces of furniture as carved by the artist.

Went there with our grandchildren. Fetching had a treasure hunt, finding different pieces of art, checking them off a list, with pictures, after finding everything, the kids got a prize of a scetch pad and pencils. It was fun!!! They even had cookies and warm cider. Very welcome on a winter day in Taos. Thanks

What a gem. The house itself is so unique and beautiful. The art was beautiful as well. There are so many things to see. Pay attention to the wood carvings done by the artist and owner of the home when he lived there. The staff was extremely friendly and answered all our questions. Don’t miss the gift shop as well. Local artists are represented there.

Taos Art Museum & Fechin House resides in the house built by Russian artist Nicolas Fechin in the late 20’s, he was a painter, sculptor and a woodworker. My favorite was his woodworking, he built his house, incorporating unique design elements and carvings in the Southwest style wood beam supports. Additionally he hand made and hand carved all of the furniture.
