The waterfront isnt as cold as one would expect (I guess the wind is coming from a different direction?) And the view is really nice. I just wish there were more casual services so I didnt need to leave the neighborhood when I wanted a snack or needed to use the restroom.

First time I was here was during an eve of a new year and I wondered till the next day about why the golden gate bridge looks so different in movies and TV. However, since then I missed watching fireworks by this Bay Bridge only once, when I was traveling somewhere else. This place is a bay side park which is the coolest harbourside joint in every sense and has the new age California scent all over it. Believe me, I cannot be less subtle about this hangout place. Surprisingly, I have never been here [other peers, yes] in any other time of the year, so if anybody has good experience about it, requesting to share.

All around a pretty amazing feat of human ingenuity. Between the Oakland Bay and Golden Gate Bridge I have to say they both equally are a must visit while in San Francisco. The park on the San Francisco side is nice perk to visiting this bridge, and makes for a nice walk. Obviously driving on the bridge is a different beast, but for the sheer awesomeness of its size and design it’s worth 5 stars to me.

This bridge is the most efficient way to move an automobile from San Francisco to Oakland (or the reverse). The view isn’t great from the center lanes, but is unbeatable on the outer. I highly recommend it, except in cases when you’re transiting by foot or bike — the BART then becomes a much safer and expedient (if less scenic) alternative.

The San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge as its officially known, is a busy bay area landmark with more than a quarter million vehicles crossing it every day. Interestingly, when the new eastern section opened in 2013, (a single level with eastbound and westbound traffic on either side) it became the widest bridge in the world according to Guinness World Records. For those who understand California politics, it should come as no surprise that the new eastern section cost over $6.5 billion to complete, which was 2,500% more than the original estimate of $250 million. Thats one expensive world record! On the subject of cost, the toll for westbound traffic to cross the bridge is $7.00 as of 2019, so plan accordingly.

Locally known as the Bay Bridge, the Bay Bridge is a complex of bridges spanning San Francisco Bay in California. As part of Interstate 80 and the direct road between San Francisco and Oakland, connecting Alameda County to San Francisco County and area codes 510 to the 415, it carries about 300,000 vehicles a day on its two decks. It has one of the longest spans in the United States. The old eastern span was originally a naked steel frame and in 2013 the eastern span has been demolished and reconstructed into the beautiful structure it is today that is able to withstand more earthquakes than the original model. The western span is 10,304 ft in length and the eastern span is 10,176 ft in length, giving the bridge a span of a total of 4.46 miles in length. In between the eastern and western spans is Yerba Buena Island and Treasure Island which are apart of San Francisco and is also the half way point between San Francisco’s mainland and Oakland and boasts some of the most amazing views of San Francisco’s skyline and the Bay Bridge and downtown Oakland. It’s truly a wonderful place to take pictures! So breathtaking. Other than that it’s also America’s most busiest bridge and the traffic could really give you road rage so the best times to cross the bridge is in the middle of the day around noon and later in the evening when rush hour cools off. Toll amount varies. Some days it can be $4, some days it can be $5 and some days it can be $6 so just carry at least $10 in cash before crossing the bridge to avoid headache and extra charges for no reason. Well I hope you guys found my review helpful and educational! Enjoy this magnificent piece of engineering!!!CheersSincerely, Omaid

The Bay Bridge is an engineering marvel. Its not as glamorous as the Golden Gate but it carries more traffic and anchors the Eastern part of San Francisco to the East Bay. Although its not as pretty as the Golden Gate bridge (arguably), it is MUCH longer. And its actually 2 bridges with a tunnel connecting it in the middle. I was lucky enough to be able to drive under, over, and sail underneath it (Part of it is a double-decker bridge which I drove on the underside). Its still one of the oldest suspension bridges in the country and is well-maintained. Its also the gateway to Oakland and the east Bay.

The San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge or Bay Bridge as it is known locally is majestic during the day but stunning after dark when it features one of the largest light shows in the world.Bay Bridge is actually a series of bridges across San Francisco Bay connecting San Francisco and Oakland. Since 1936, this has been one of the longest bridges in the United States and marks the end of Interstate 80.The Bay Lights show starts at dusk each night with amazing 25,000 LED lights and is funded by a non-profit organization. A number of San Francisco buildings offer great views but the shore near the Ferry Building is a great place to also see the reflections in the water. The one place you cant see the light show is from the Bay Bridge itself because no lights are visible from on the bridge roadway to avoid driver distractions. Light shows are always changing but often include birds flying, waterfalls, reflections, geometric patterns, and much more.Dont miss this!

Over the years Ive seen thousands of photos of the bay bridge. The old span was cool looking but needed replacing. The new section is beautiful and modern looking. Its strong and built to last, even through some strong earthquakes. Im sure it will last 100 years or more. As far as bridges go its considered a beautiful bridge. The city of SF promotes it as a one of a kind bridge spanning a one of a kind bay. I believe that because Ive seen the photos. With that said, I do have an issue. Because of this one of a kind status Id really like to slow down, take my time and enjoy this one of a kind drive. Well, we all know what happens when someone on the freeway intentionally slows things down :o) Ive had the pleasure of driving across the bay bridge dozens of times (the old and the new since 1970) but Ive not once been able to enjoy the view it as Id like to. Therefore, this one of a kind experience gains 4 stars from this guy who wants a view from the bridge.

Now since i am not from San Francisco like many others and many travelers im sure you have seen pictures of this bridge all your life or at least in movies or posters. However that being said pictures do not do this feat of engineering justice. Its as if seeing New york, New york in pictures you cant truly get or understand the full scope of its size until you have seen the actual thing. The size of this bridge alone is breathtaking and then once you find out you are able to walk across it on foot is another level of excitement. The views you are able to withhold from this bridge are stunning in every direction. whether that be looking upon Alcatraz the lonely island of isolation to the bustling city of San Francisco. I must warn you though if you do plan to ventrue your way across the bridge be prepared it is quite the journey and not for those who do not like being at heights that stretch over 100ft. The bridge is kept in immaculate condition and has plenty of tours that also cross its span many many times a day so dont think you are stuck only with the option of walking. Either way you look at it being that of up close or from a far it is a must see when coming to San Francisco it is no less than the icon of the city. Even the Warriors Jersey has that of the Bridge upon the logo. I have made the trip one time myself and it was definitely a spot in which you have to take a selfie. unless you are looking for that extra bit of adventure the bridge also does give private tours in which you are able to climb to the top and yes i mean the very top by way of climbing up the cables with safety harnesses as well as multiple guides, for those who are the thrill seekers looking for that once in a lifetime photo or story. no matter how you look at it. beauty is what you will see a test of time and injunity and strength in my mind. Thank you for taking the time to ready my review this has been Jonathan E i hope you take the journey to see this bridge yourself and have a wonderful day!Image Credit : Robert Bye (@robbye91)
