Cheers! This amazing movie house makes my heart melt. All the movies I wanted to watch were all right here. I was not mistaken about turning to this place for good vibes. They never fail me on my high expectations. The whole movie was awesome! I wont hesitate to recommend this movie house to all of my friends. Nice!

The best cinema house in town! At first, the staff entertained me appropriately and nicely, and I felt very happy about that. As I entered the cinema house, I could see that the arrangement of the seats was comfortable and clean. Also, the foods, popcorn, and drinks that they served taste yummy and OK. I loved this cinema house a lot. It was a very good place to hang out. Thanks!

I will save their contact number for reservations in the near future. No hidden charges compare to other movie houses! Thumbs up to this place!

My friends and I went to this movie house to hang out and have fun. The staff was very accommodating, nice, and helpful. When we came in, the seats were comfortable and organized. Even the screen was too large and clear. Also, the popcorns and drinks that we bought were yummy and OK. Next time, we will come back, for your movie house was satisfying. Nice service!

It was my first time going to a movie house, and I was really amazed at this place. The screen was so wide and the speakers were not too loud.n The reclining chairs they have are very comfy, big, and cozy to sit on. The snacks they had were very delicious especially the popcorns and hotdogs. I really had a wonderful experience!

Old school theaters showing art house movies are almost common place these days, but its important to appreciate how these classic movie houses can still thrive! For the Roxie, great shows are always playing, and its very comfortable as you walk in straight to your chair. It doesnt feel tired, and you can enjoy modern amenities as well by grabbing a can of independent beer for your film.

The Roxie Theater, and its Little Roxie 2 doors down, are a great San Francisco independent cinema and event institution. The variety of film= and festival screenings and events offered is second to none worldwide. I encourage all film lovers to consider becoming a supporting member of the Non-Profit Roxie. At the Patron Level you get to access almost all screenings and events, except for some Festival screenings controlled/limited by the festival organizers. One thing that almost makes me give the Big Roxie a 4 Star Rating are the increasingly uncomfortable and aging seats. I hope there will be a way to get them maintained/upholstered or replaced in the future. Thanks Roxie Team.

A bit too old school for me. Seats old and uncomfortable, not very clean and smelled weird inside the theater. Popcorn machine was broken so didnt even get to try it. Only one bathroom but it was clean. My husband and I enjoyed the movie and he liked the beer he chose. Overall we will not go back unless theres a film we REALLY want to see thats not available anywhere else.

This was my first time at the Roxie and even though I had passed by it several times when I lived in the area I had never ventured inside... until now. The space isnt anything to brag about but its kind of a cool feeling to be able to see indie films in a known spot in SF while youre helping support local a business or charity that the films proceeds go towards. Id bring a cushion of your own because the chairs are a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, grab some candy and go enjoy the show!

This is not a spectacular theater in the technical sense; the screen isnt huge, the seats dont massage you, the popcorn...um, actually, the popcorn is pretty good. But the reason to be here is to see a curated set of films that are unpredictable. Here you see films that are hard to describe to someone, but youre still talking about years later. Here you discover genres of films that your work friends only start noticing eight years later. So it is a spectacular theater in that way.

I like supporting independent theaters but I havent had the best experiences here. One night we were the only people that werent part of this insanely crazy group of old people that were super loud in the little Roxy, which wasnt the most fun. The theater emailed us to be there by 6:15 otherwise our tickets might be given away, but the box office didnt open until 6:03. The other time, we were waiting for a movie festival and the staff ( which may have been from the festival) was really rude and not good for keeping us informed. I like the theater but its not the best customer experience.

Having read the mixed reviews of this theater, I was very pleasantly surprised. It was clean, well maintained, and had no noticeable smell (I love the Balboa, but it smells like pee). I saw Postcards From The Edge, and the sound and protection seemed spot on. Got there 30 min early to get a close enough seat. I didnt find the seats any less comfortable than the Castro or other old theaters. Popcorn was fresh and delicious and they had several beers in cans, including Sapporo. It is true that the cup holders are only every other seat though. I didnt notice any noise from the neighboring establishments, even though it was a Sunday night. The staff/volunteers were all really happy and friendly. They were even able to scan the ticket barcode off my phone.

They only show good things. TWater/snacks are sold out front but no booze so keep that in mind if you want it.Only beware theres no assigned seating and the theater is fairly flat, so people queue up early to get their spots sorted out.Another beware factor: theres one booth for entry that counts both will call and time-of sales, the line can get quite long.

Everything I love about San Francisco - diverse, quirky, smart - in one totally authentic historic neighborhood theater. A small theater used to play independent movies. I was there with friends to watch a film festival of short movies on trail running as an example.Located in the Mission District, its close to some good and cheap eats. I love the Roxie! This quirky independent theater has been around forever and they do a great job with the programming. There are two screens, and theyre pretty much always playing something youve never heard of. Theyll do film festivals (like the First International Cat Video Festival for Humans, or more serious festivals), indie movies, documentaries.I never go to this theater expecting the show to be good, but rather go with an open mind ready for something to either delight me or leave me amused by how insane it was. This is my go-to place for a quiet night out.
