This movie house is located inside the mall and was very nice and huge inside. It was newly built, and the place was very tidy and comfortable. The chairs were the best! It was super cozy! It was definitely our new favorite cinema in town! We will be watching our favorites here! And dont forget to have your popcorn and fries first!

Just what an old theater should be. This has all of the elements of a great theater...from the cool movie selections to the guest appearances to the overall ambiance, and lets not forget the musical entertainment prior to the show. They lose points on the snack bar - not because its limited to classics, as it should be in a beautiful classic theater....but because sometimes the classics just dont taste all that fresh.

Arts theatre. I saw Holdstan, a style pioneer of the 1960s, also a pioneer of popular culture. He had been a part of the beautiful folk social civilization of socialites at New York, which, needless to say, still proceeds. The film offers clues to its roots, making it work.

Small theater in unassuming location and I mean small like 50 seats. There are 4 screens they play forigen, art and documentarie, films mostly. Prices are quite reasonable $ 6-8-10 depending on day and time. Its a quite theater do not so much for kids. Was here for the first time Sunday and Ill be coming back soon. Rare hidden gem.

WELL...I always liked Opera Plazza but have to admit that a few things turned worse over time. The theatre is one of them... first, very small auditoriums: like 35-40 seats maximum. Very cold inside.. get a thick jacket and hat.The concession stand is ridiculously expensive and not happening at all: 1 small water bottle $4.50 !!, small pop corn $5.50 and some soda options. No Starbucks options but Peets is around the corner so you may be able to sneak ( really!!) one inside. Ohhhh... the crew and decor makes you feel like youre in one of those old school Reno casinos...a far cry from the real ones in Vegas ( get the picture?). Other than that.. parking is metered all around and some $$$ garages.. construction work on the front Van Ness street... kinda going down hill look and feel at this moment. Not negative.. just real stuff.Hope for a turn for the better soon..

Good pastrami sandwich. I would have enjoyed a horseradish sauce with a bit more bite, but thats a personal choice directed at a condiment so thats barely a criticism of the restaurant. I would also consider a different vendor for the rye bread. It was delicious, but it was sliced too thinly to stand up to the amazingly juicy pastrami and had practically disintegrated before I was half way through either half of my lunch. Service and taste were excellent. It was a little pricey for a casual lunch, but not unreasonable.

Usually not very crowded. My favorite place to watch international independent movies. The tickets prices are very cheap comparing to many places. Last time I went my ticket was for $6 for a movie that was stunning and 2 hours and 10 minutes long. I recommend this place.

Nice cinema. It shows non-mainstream movies, which you can see only in a few theaters. So many drawbacks can be tolerated for that. For example, in Jan 2019 I watched Free Solo here, even though it was first in theaters in September 2018! It’s amazing that they still show it.The cinema itself is very basic. The seats are from 90s, the screen is from 80s probably. It’s very cheap though ($10).The location is not good. Tenderloin, far from the downtown. Can’t really walk that far, need to take Uber. But still, when you want to see some special movie that almost no other shows, you can forgive everything else.

Old movie theater. if the movie is absolutely fantastic, I can get over the fact that the seats are miserable and the auditoriums ARE outdated. Im not one to give a movie theater a high score for nostalgia. I want my movie theater to be modern and comfortable. Its too easy to stay home and watch Netflix.

I very much enjoyed how the movies here are curated. Its a nice mix of indie, artsy, and foreign film that the mainstream theatres dont show most of the time. I do wish the seats were more comfortable and that the screens were not at weird angles to the seats in the auditoriums. The staff is fairly indifferent to the moviegoers, but usually they spark up if you talk to them about film in general.

Although the viewing rooms in the Landmark Theaters Opera Plaza Cinemas are small, my friends and I have never had issues getting walk-up seats. Thats probably because this theater specializes in international films that are well into their worldwide release cycle. Opera Plaza Cinema serves an important role in the diverse Cinema scene in Northern California, bringing to our City fine international movies that might not otherwise see the light of day in San Francisco.

The place is never truly crowded, the staff is welcoming and the smallish theatres make for an enjoyable movie experience. Its prices are better than most landmark theatres, especially if one sees the first showing or is a student or senior. Its snack bar prices are a bit steep, but one can eat before arriving. Its a great place to see a show without the hubbub or the trendier landmark theatres with wine and tipsy patrons.

Went with a friend here and I wasnt super thrilled. The box office/concession staff didnt seem that friendly, and when we sat to watch the trailers, we had no sound for a majority of the trailers shown. After calling staff over to check once or twice, it eventually was fixed before the film started. By the way: I had no idea theaters could be this small, but thats not a complaint. Another complaint, however, is the projector quality. It looked like the same type of projection quality you see in offices or home projectors or something. Its watchable, but a little distracting for me.Overall: If you want to watch unique films in the city for a fairly decent price, this is a serviceable location. Do not expect too much out of it.

I really enjoy the experience of going to a boutique theatre, and also the experience of seeing films that - even if you dont like them - are more likely to make you think or to broaden your horizons. They have a parking garage, and super convenient bus service, so its easy to get there. Theres a Philz nearby, as well as Petes, whichever you prefer ;-)

Not the best cinema, but a good place to relax with friends, we watched Escape from LA with Kurt Russell as a new release. However, if Ive got the right cinema, the area was high risk. Two BMFs followed us out of the cinema late at night and you quickly know when youre going to have to turn and face them or run (the trouble is so many have guns in America), but round the corner came two cops and our shadows turned down a side street. Phew! Be Careful in San Francisco late at night...

Hard to find, located in back of the plaza from the street. All the street construction doesnt help either. Not sure about the other theaters here, but the one we were had about 40 seats. Smallest theater Ive been in. Felt more like someones home theater room, but not as comfortable. The guy selling tickets and working the snack stand couldnt have been more bored on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Since I moved here, Ive come here on many occasions to see movies that I wanted to see before the vanish from the silver screen. To say that, Id say the experience is worth it. From past SF Film Society memories to now, Ive always walked away feeling full and not empty! I recommend going outside before and afterwards, and just enjoying the fountain. Aside from the occasional OCD homeless / elderly person during matinees, this place is a steal, so go for it!

Think planes are a luxurious way of watching films? Then youll love this place. The reason its never crowded is because every regular movie goer knows about the tiny screens and the horrible viewing angles. This location was originally one large screen with one or two small side theaters. It was later badly converted into a small multiplex (the main room was subdivided). But it did a reasonable business by specializing in small audience films such as imports and arty independents and keeping prices down. Subsequently the screens were subdivided further into tiny shoeboxes where the problems are even worse. There are seats that are like standing 3 feet from a wall and watching an image projected on the ceiling. Most of the rooms (with rows 5 to 10 seats wide) have the aisle down the middle of the room, meaning there are NO good seats in the entire house. These days they seldom show anything you cant stream or see in a better house, and they charge top dollar, because they put lazyboys in some of the rooms. If you go out to watch films for the big screen experience, then this is not the place to do it - you will literally have a better viewing experience on your laptop. On a date? Take her to the roof with your iPad. She will be significantly more impressed.
