This is a great beach. There is a paid parking lot run by the state park, reasonably priced and very convenient. There is also a paid lot behind Summer Sessions across the street.Bathrooms and separate changing rooms make getting beach ready easy.Summer Sessions has surf boards and wet suits available to rent for full or half days. The sand beach has plenty of small rocks and pebbles.

This is the best family surfing spot in Southern New Hampshire. Great waves and best for lounging. Pushing right on the beach, but you need to get there early. Parking across the street for more, but also fills up fast.

This beach is kid friendly. You only need to walk a very short distance from the parking lot to the sand, so its easy to tote things on to/ off of the beach. The bathrooms are clean and we love that there are outdoor showers. Parking is limited, but we have always gotten lucky with finding a parking spot. The parking rates are very affordable compared to a lot of other beaches.

I cant believe I grew up in NH and somehow never went to this beach until now. Very family-friendly. Incredibly clean. Gentle surf, but aggressive seagulls. The gentle and consistent surf, and a surf shop across the street which offers rentals and lessons makes for lots of eye candy...if you like that kind of thing, LOL! Parking is extremely limited, so better to arrive early or later in the day.

Beautiful beach year round. Dogs are aloud in the winter and spring which is very nice. It has good soft sand and good waves for swimming and surfing. The water is cold but it is New Hampshire after all. Parking is limited but across the street there is a lot that is only $20. A bathroom, rinse off station and changing rooms are in a building near the beach and there is a coffee shop and restaurant as well as a surf shop across the street. Highly recommend

I had only visited Hampton Beach in the past. Jenness State Beach in my opinion is a better place to visit. I really like that it is less crowded and commercial. The sand was sugary and amazing. Our family, which ranges from 2 years old to 60, had a great time and wished wed discovered it sooner on our trip

Easy parking, nice bathrooms, clean beach that is huge, level, soft sand. Great beach for families with kids. Parking is cheap. Dogs allowed before 9am and after 7pm, and owners must pick up after dogs. Nice tame surf, shallow gentle incline.

Rye, NH is one of my favorite beaches to surf in New England. Summer sessions across the street has all your surfing needs and a fantastic little Cafe. Delicious smoothies and yogurt bowls make for perfect post surf fuel. Parking is a bit limited this summer because of covid so arrive early to wait for waves instead of a parking spot

A surprisingly beautiful new England beach. The sand and rocks stretch far along the water with enough space for everyone to enjoy a summer beach day. The road alongside the beach provides good parking and a row of traditional restaurants and Cafes are a perfect spot for lunch or quick smoothie. Surfing is a beloved activity here too. A great place to spend the day.

The State Beach parking lot, though very reasonably priced with an hourly charge, is very small and its difficult to get a spot. We were lucky, though and found something our second time around, probably because it was a week day. There is more parking along some sections of roadway, that also provide access to the beach, for which it seemed there was no charge, but one would have to walk a much longer distance to get access to the sand and the restroomsThe bathrooms, change rooms and outside showers were in great shape and provided welcome comfort areas. There are also 2 bubblers to drink from. The beach is clean, flat and sandy. Not rocky. Also, barely any waves!

What a wonderful find! We typically go to Hampton Beach but it was so packed on the 4th of July this year. So we decided to drive up the coast and ended up finding this little gem of a beach! Very nice beach with soft, white sand. The waves were similar to those on Hampton Beach, though I think the water may have been a few degrees cooler. It was very clean, clear and refreshing though, and not over crowded. They had a newer bathroom and changing room building. It was clean, and looked as though it was tended to every few hours. There are outdoor showers and large changing stalls outside as well. The clientele was also respectful and quiet... definitely seemed to be more locals than anything. Parking meters available. Will definitely visit again soon!!!

Its a small beach and not as packed. Its a little bit further of a drive from Boston. There were a quit a few surfers and it feels like more a family beach rather than a springbreaker type with youngsters blasting music from their portable speakers. Since its not as crowded you can set up and still have quite a bit of distance from another group

Ive been to my fair share of beaches - California, all over the Texas gulf coast, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware but this was my absolute favorite. Mid-July and the temperature was a pleasant 84F. The water is chilly but nice. The sand is clean and sparkly. No oil, no rotting seaweed, no dead sealife, no discarded medical supplies washed up in rotting seaweed, no trash or cans buried in the sand. Really spectacular beach. Nice restrooms and changing area with shower. Parking is along the street and requires a bit of a walk.

This is a great family beach. There is a very shallow slope to the beach going into the water. The risk of undertow is very slight. There is no Boardwalk as there is in more popular beaches in the area such as Hampton Beach, but its a wonderful Beach for children to play at without the fear of anything happening to them. Its also a very quiet beach. The restrooms are clean. It cost $2 an hour to park in the parking lot unless you have a handicap placard in which you can park anywhere in the parking lot for free. If you head down the street a little bit and you park your car off the pavement that is free. Right across the street is a surf shop that also has a small coffee shop attached to it. Unfortunately, due to the surf shop across the street there are many servers that come to this beach in the morning. It is very hard to find a place to park at that time. The lifeguards come on duty at 10:15 a.m. and at that time the surfers must move to the edge of the public beach area. On busy days they have a lot you can park at behind the shop for $20 per day. We have been coming to this beach for 50 + years and it is just beautiful.

Beautiful beach with a relatively small parking lot for crowd management. The parking meters are annoying because you must go back every two or so hours to feed it again and you will be ticketed the second your slip expires. The facilities are poor but the soft sand makes up for what it lacks. There are often surfers that take up a lot of space.

A decent beach with shallow water and tidal pools for the young kids to play in. It appears to be a good surfer destination because there were many in the water. There are rocks and places to find crabs. The bathrooms are small and the parking is tight. If you want to park in the beach lot on a weekend then you need to get there 7-8am or you will need to park across the street, which fills up by around 9am.
