Iconic Upper West Side market with a wide variety of fresh and packaged goods. Know for their fish counters (salmon), coffee, baked goods, and other NY style specialties. While some things are well priced, always check, as occasionally some items can be very expensive. Definitely visit this legendary place if you can when in the area. Located on Broadway near the 1 train - check out my YouTube Le Rétoir for more reviews!

There was a line, but it only took a few minutes to get inside. Because of the gradual entry, the store had only a reasonable number of people at a time. After the great selection of my favorites, there was only one person ahead of me at the cashier. A great visit!

Amazing bagels, jewish rye bread, cherry cheese strudel, apple strudel, cheese blitzes, and veggie cream cheese. We werent a fan of the chicken tenders as we found them to be dry. Insanely expensive for household items. They dont need to be that expensive - my beef is mainly with the kitchen supplies upstairs. Good quality, but everything should really be about 25% less expensive. Seems like they are just kicking up the price because of the area. Otherwise the grocery store food is just slightly more expensive compared to Whole Foods.

We received a gift basket from Zabars. The good stuff was good, but two tubs of cream cheese each had cracked open on the bottom, making themunsafe to eat. We called the appropriate number and were told that a manager would be in touch that day; nothing. The next day we wrote an email and the response was that the gift giver would get a refund for the cream cheese--we wanted the cream cheese, but got nothing. Poor service!

I bought there the most expensive eggs I ever bought ($7.98) a dozen. They sell them as organic and not genetically modified. Well, I grew up on a farm and I know how good eggshell is and I can recognize a good egg color. These were nothing like that. Worse quality-price.

Lots of specialties in here - be sure to check out cheese, cream cheese, coffee and so much more. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

We received a gift basket from Zabars. The fruit was bruised and brown in the center. Rugelach were very unimpressive, as was all the rest, really. The cheddar was good, but supermarket level. Parmigiano was not Italian. So -- For what this likely cost, why not only 1 star? Because it really looked very nice when it came, which felt good given it was for a family death.

What can you say about Zabars that hasnt been said before? Nothing that I can think of. Ill just point out: Still one of the best selections of cheeses that you could hope to see, from all the most obvious choices (say a half dozen Bries and another half dozen Triple Chremes) to the most obscure boutique American cheeses from New England to Iowa to Oregon; primo Lox, Nova, Scottish Salmon, sliced like onion skin if thats how you like it; pretty much any like to coffee you could want (althouhgh a bit light on decafs); great breads and, over the last few years, a huge selection of prepared foods -- including a more-than-decent pulled pork; and of course the obscure stuff you can find anywhere else (e.g., demi-glace for your chicken paillard).Oh, and all the housewares up on the second floor that you could ever need. If your kitchen burned down you could easily restock it in one trip.

Review №46

Zabars has terrible customer service. I ordered a gift basket, to be delivered to my home address in the Mojave Desert. The catalog description stated that, in the Summertime Season, another item would be substituted for the usual chocolate bar. Nope. Epic fail. In September, during triple-digit temperatures, Zabars sent the chocolate as part of the gift basket. It melted all over every single item in the package. I had a mess to clean up. When I complained, the Zabars so-called customer service rep basically shrugged and did not attempt to make things right, other than to reimburse me for the cost of the chocolate bar. I guess they dont give a rats a** about repeat customers or word-of-mouth recommendations. I wont be patronizing them again, no matter how famous or delicious their lox, bagels, and cream cheese may be. NYC has a thousand other delis.

When I lived in NYC for over 20 years, I regularly shopped at Zabars. It was always a great experience. However, having had to order online from them over the past 20 years, Ive noticed a steady decline in the quality of products Ive gotten from them. I just received an order of smoked salmon from them and was, for the last time, very disappointed. It was poorly cut and poorly packed. Never again.

Super overpriced for what you are receiving... Some of the inventory ongthe shelves is left over from world war 2. There is ZERO home made or authentic anything here. Small thing of mashed potatoes... $10???? Its just strange and illogical.

Cafe and grocer with a great selection. It has four sections. The first is a cafe with affordable options for meals any time of day. Tasty Bagels that must have been made in their Bakery.
