I loved this show! Stephen Colbert is fantastic as his is warm up DJ and band. Unfortunately if you get tickets to attend a show, no photographs or videos are permitted inside the studio. Stephen Colbert always addresses the audience and is a really nice guy, but you dont get to meet him individually or get a picture with him.

Had an amazing time! I applied only the day before online (for one person) and I was able to go immediately. It took about 1,5 hours in total. One guest, one band. You should go here when you are in NYC. You will not regret it! Moreover, the theater is an amazing building. That alone is worth a visit, but the show was wonderful.

Went to a show during the first six months of its launch. Going to any of the late night shows is a fun experience that you simply must do at some point in your life. Stephen Colbert is the best! The warm up show before the show is a lot of fun. Colbert puts more effort and talent into it than any other show. Get in line early is my best advice.

If you like the show, seeing it live is wonderful! The theatre is beautiful and getting to be close to the stage when it was being filmed was wonderful. We loved seeing how they do the show and hope to go back again sometime, since we had so much fun. I would recommend maybe not going in the heat of the summer, though, since it was VERY hot waiting outside before we were let into the theatre and that was rough. If you want a good seat, lining up early is a good idea and well worth it. We were very close. It would be neat to sit upstairs sometime, too, since you get to see the full ceiling and dont have the cameras in the way of your view as much. Tons of fun.

A memorable fun experience. Stephen has been our all time favorite. We booked the tickets online almost a month in advance before going to New York for some business. They were free and priority seating so don’t be late!No backpacks are allowed so be ready for that. The whole thing took from 2-3 hours and it’s unforgettable! Would recommend if it’s one of your favorite shows.

What a great show!!!What a great person Mr. Stephen Colbert is!!!I got a ticket of this show several months ago via internet.2 hour before the filming time, we have towait in line in front of the Ed Sullivan Theater.Taking pictures and recording is prohibit in the theater. So you have to keep in memory about the filming experience.A local comedian warms audience up before starting the show for 30 minutes. Then, Stephen is coming, and give us a welcoming speech.Everyday, The late show welcomes great guest(famous person), so you will be existed at the show! And Stephens political joke and humor is very interesting. You cannot stop laughing during the show! The music of Stay Human was brilliant, excellent!!!

Fabulous performance of course! Beautiful, historic theater. Keep in mind that there is a lot of standing, yelling at the top of your lungs, and bright lights in your eyes the whole time. You have to wait standing in a claustrophobic space for over an hour, but they run everything smoothly. You cannot use the bathroom during the performance and you have to have your phone completely off.

This was one fun time! Tickets to this show are very difficult to get, but, the quest is worthwhile. The warmup comedian, Paul Mercurio, is hilarious and Colbert comes out before the show for some Q & A, unlike his predecessor, Letterman (we saw him 3x). The house band, John Batiste and Stay Human, are amazing and keep the energy in the Ed Sullivan Theater (yep, the same place the Beatles played) rocking.Get here if you can. Id post more pictures, but youll have to find out for yourself!

They dont let you in with any type of bag and they dont provide any solution for it (no coat checking and they dont suggest any place). The show experience itself was fun and we had a blast seeing the show get created. The cameras blocked a lot of the views of the folks on stage though. The way they let the various groups and lines into the theatre was confusing, and I ended up waiting in 90 degree heat for almost two hours, but eventually made it in. Had an awesome time here. The staff, stephen, and everything involved with the show was great. Such a good experience and a must-do if you have time. My only issues were due to two things. 1. We had priority tickets but since we were tourists we didnt know how things worked. We had our tickets scanned then were placed in the general admission line, not priority. This made us have worse seats and a much longer wait time in the cold. 2. The wait time. Our hotel is close to times square about 10 minutes away. It was a total of almost two hours before we were in the venue and seated. I feel this could be managed better.

Stephen Colbert is one of the funniest late night shows, two years and counting. His humor is tongue in cheek and he really connects with the audience. The whole process to get into the show was fairly easy but because its popular, early birds fair better both online and standing online the day of. The show pre-tapes Monday through Thursday at the Ed Sullivan Theater. Show set is even more electric in person than on the TV. John Baptiste and Stay Human provide high energy entertainment and are a superb band. Must see show. My personal favorite is his Midnight Confessions segment and obviously the monologue.

Just before we left the line one of the stage managers said he could get us in. Awesome. Had probably the worse seats in the theater but it didnt matter we had a wonderful time. You can still see everything, Colbert talks to anyone willing to shout out a question, and everyone there is super nice. Just dont expect to break out your camera inside without getting a stern, Sir! NO PHONES! In which case you can just act super foreign, possibly lost, and its all good.

We learned of the intricacies of producing one hour show daily. I particularly have been a fan of Stephen Colbert for years. I enjoy his wit and he has given me HOPE during our dark hours. Mixed with JoY and laughter. He had Ray Donovan as a guest today. He has very interesting guests. I loved the show with Cynthia Erivo, I think that is the name of the actress in HARRIET. A fantastic movie that would be good for all students to watch. I loved tonights show.

Ar
Review №72

It was my first time seeing Colbert live, and it was a great experience. Not fantastic by any means, but definitely a good time (with some gripes).I have two main issues:First, the constant requirement to be loud and laugh on command whenever the show breaks for commercial and comes back makes my energy feel artificial and, quite frankly, violated. I realize that the show is live and the energy of the crowd is important, but I feel like thats even more reason for it to be REAL rather than artificial. The band and comedian before Colbert do a decent job of energizing the crowd, but if the show fails to generate genuine excitement and laughter out of the crowd, then it shouldnt be the crowds job to support that and carry that burden.Second, the commercial breaks are FREQUENT. And I mean every 3-5 minutes. Colbert was on the stage for roughly 40 minutes and I spent just as much, if not more, time observing him sitting there (not interacting with the crowd) as I did when he was on-air. This coupled with the constant requirement of needing to laugh, cheer, and applause (roughly three time as loud as normal) twice every time a commercial happens really just makes the show feel less special.Tl;Dr show was funny, he is a comedian, 50% of the jokes fell flat (not bc of topic but purely bc they were written poorly) but the other 50% hit extremely well. Nothing is off limits. Show is definitely more left-leaning in political view, but still very enjoyable for conservatives especially if you maintain an open mind. Constant need to supply energy to the stage crew/actors/bands/Colbert is draining and is the worst part of the show. They are very appreciative of it so maybe its a little more bearable. And the show is still very entertaining to see it at least once. Further trips would have to be fueled by a special guest Id like to see (not that you can choose when you get ur tickets...)

Such a GREAT experience!! Ive been a fan since the Colbert Report, but those takings were harder to get into due to space; the Ed Sullivan theater seats 400, so we got priority tickets online. The wait is long, but well worth it. We were in the second row, so everything was literally before our eyes; however, there were cameras moving around so sometimes our view was obstructed. They have a strict no phone on, no picture policy, which was a slight bummer because the stage was amazing. We definitely have new appreciation for the John Batist and Stay Human...they were amazing. They basically provide a private concert every night. Stephen was amazing. Cant say more good things about him and the show. Definitely go to the taping next time youre in NYC!Also, quick shout out to Angelos for graciously letting use their bathroom while waiting in line.

We arrived about 2:30 and we were about the 6th people in line, not bad however we waited until 3:45 to move inside to another line where we waited another 45min, the staff is cordial at best, we were told once inside the building if we needed to use the bathroom now was the time because no bathroom access was allowed during or after the show, once inside the theater you sit for another 30min listening to INSANELY loud music blasting through speakers ear piercing uncomfortably loud and its extremely cold, honestly I bet the loud music and cold theater are supposed to keep you awake for the performance but it just irritated me, after waiting in the rain for almost 2 hours and then another long wait in the lobby being ushered into ridiculously loud music and coldness made you feel unappreciated as a fan, the staff greets the audience a few times making sure to tell how much they appreciate you, but its rather unbelievable from the process they take to get you seated. I feel like the process could be better if they changed it up a bit. Your guests cant feel appreciated while being herded around like cattle no access to bathrooms and his staff seem over it and less then thrilled. I like Stephen Colbert but, this process was an eye opening experience. The word FABRICATED comes to mind. Dont take your g-parents (lol) and wear something warm or cool depending on the weather and maybe show up 3-330 and in my opnion the best seats are the balcony seats no camera blocking their view. Go, have fun but use my advice youll have more fun.
