I love Film at Lincoln Center! Amazing new films and retrospectives from all over the world. Events and Q&As with cinema artists in front of and behind the camera. As well as the film festival in September/ October. And you can become a member to receive extra perks. Member or not just go!

Actually attended the Howard Gilmam Theater at Lincoln Center. Small theater, comfortable and accessible. Good views. Theater area had small concession for refreshments. Bathrooms are adjacent to the theater area and well maintained. Sound system at the theater is effective. The presentation included 3D glasses, which was an added enhancement. The particular event i attended was not particularly crowded, so seating was ample. The seats are spacious and cushioned.

It is a small theater with modern design. it only has two screens, so there are not many movies on. BUT, this theater is a popular one. in my opinion, it is because the movies they picked are great. When you are watching the movies, you would think about some questions, for exmples, what the movie want to tell me, why it happen? the movies do not have special effect, or have a lot of movie stars in their cast, but all of them are imressive. i watched all movies are on this cinema, and i love them.here are some suggestion if you are going to this theater. they are nonprofit cinema, so they dont play tons of movie trial after the schedule. make sure you come on time. second, most of people love fifth row, but i think fourth row is the perfect row.

Just saw the movie Jane today and it was a pleasant experience. We arrived about 15 minutes early and got great seats. It got packed so definitely arrive a little early! They also have a cute little cafe with different breakfast, lunch and dessert options. You can bring your snacks into the theater which is always a plus.

Love the small theaters that screen independent films produced from all around the world. The seats are comfortable. I do love that I can walk up and buy a ticket in cash and not charged a convenience fee. Sometimes it pays to be old school!

Now that Lincoln Plaza movie theater closed down, this is the only place to see indie and foreign movies that dont have wide release. Seats are pretty comfortable. The feature presentations start right on the dot, so dont be late!

The Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center is a very modern, nicely appointed collection of theaters. It contains three: the Francesca Beale Theater (142 seats), Howard Gilman (85 seats) and the Amphitheater (75 seats).Ive attended countless Q&As with directors like Brian De Palma, Jon Favreau, and Nicolas Winding Refn in the Amphitheater. It says it seats 75 people, but since its bench seating that can vary a lot. It becomes problematic when people get a little too comfortable with their purses. Thats what laps are for people. The risers are high to accommodate the back padding of the bench, so not even the tallest giant will obstruct your view. But the bottom padding is quite thin. The Q&As arent all that long so its bearable.I would suggest getting their an hour early at the very least for popular talks because seating is so limited.

Went to see the movie with Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes last night that was reviewed in the Times. Something about the director was being shown instead with the same name. A classic screw up. They blamed their marketing department. Didnt even say sorry.

Pro tip: Light from the projection room in the back gets reflected in 3d glasses making watching 3d movie uncomfortable. Take back rows for 3d movies.

Very modern, clean, good looking theatre with art movies, and non genre movies. The merch area is hard to notice though. There is food and drinks. Takes movie pass. Seats and viewing quality is good too. There was one time I sat in a seat, where the light from the projector area came in and was annoying cause I wanted more darkness, that should be looked into.

Beautiful theatre, great programming and the wine bar by the embrace is a gem. Ive been to a few screenings recently and a far more pleasant experience than going to basic movie theater. Films offered in a broad range of topics and wonderfully entertaining.

Modern theater and friendly staff, but what makes this place truly special is its continuing support for foreign language films, many by independent filmmakers and small production companies. The lineup during a recent visit includes films from South Korea, France, and Burkina Faso (part of a week-long African Film Festival). They also try to invite directors to interact with the audience after the film. If you’re tired of the usual Hollywood fare, definitely give this place a try.

The most comfortable theaters in town. The new releases are well curated, and their festivals are even better. And as others have mentioned, the concessions are excellent. Overall, an under-appreciated gem of the Upper West Side.

Went to see a movie midday on a trip to NY. Its a two screen place, showing indies, at least when I was there. There is a coffee shop/ restaurant that shares a lobby and a small concessions stand. The theater itself was ok, The seat I was in could have used some new padding but as the movie got going I forgot all about it.

I dont like the way this theater does business (they have a very strict policy re: refunds and exchanges: there are none), and I found the manager to be rude and uncooperative. Also, I was told by the woman at the box office that I could exchange a ticket that I had unnecessarily purchased at the box office and then when I tried to exchange it I was told that I could not exchange that ticket. This miscommunication was obviously frustrating; it gave me the impression that the theater bends the rule for some people, but not for everyone.
