Julia was an excellent tour guide! I enjoyed the tour of the home and gardens immensely. I think Im now as much in love with camellias as Edith Sterne! The plants were all so mature and well tended, you could tell theyve been nurtured and taken care of. It was great seeing an historical home built more recently. I appreciate that the Sternes wanted to build a home in the local architectural styles so visitors could see it in a more preserved state, as the older homes in the area once were. Thank you so much for sharing this home with the public!

If you want that southern charm without compromise, I would recommend the house and garden tour of the Longue Vue House and Gardens. This historic property backs up to a country club but the immaculate detail and care of the house are the true stars. Sprawling oak trees welcome you to the house and bubbling fountains emphasis the serenity of the gardens. History is flush in this beautiful property.

They provide a guide tour to explain everything inside for you. I paid $12 for regular person and $8 for student in USA.

My husband and I had a few minutes to spare. We didnt go inside the house we just enjoyed the gardens. From what we saw it was very a very peaceful, tranquil place. If you are in the area and have a fifteen to a half hour to spare I would definitely visit. Also seemed like the kind of place to enjoy a cup of joe and a good book next to the lighthouse. Enjoy!!

Nice place to walk around a bit and probably really pretty in late spring, but we went early March (when the weather is perfect) and it seemed like there wasnt much to see. The house tour was cool, but we didnt learn anything about most of the art in the house, even though the brochure says there is art from the 17th century. Overall the gardens were much smaller than they seemed on the website, and several things looked like they had not been kept up. I had the impression that either their master gardener quit, or they lost some funding recently.

We ended up here on a surprisingly cold winter day in New Orleans. We werent sure what to expect, but had some extra time and were looking for a good option for something to do indoors. Im so glad we ended up at Longue Vue. Our tour guide was great -- knew the history of the whole house so well and had great details to share. A beautiful home owned by a very interesting family. The grounds are lovely as well and though we didnt get to see them at their best as our visit was in November, I imagine they are stunning at their peak.

If youre someone who just enjoy being surrounded by greenery this may be the place for you, however, on the otherhand if youre looking for a stunning, eye catching, beautiful blossoming flowers then it just may not be the place for you. I really like the spacious areas which can be quite serene and if you have small kids they can run around while you have a picnic, but unfortunately many of the greenery is just not well kept and the fountains were not either working or just not on. Not to mention the fountains that contained water in them could use some cleaning. One of the ladies that greeted us was very informative and nice. Nevertheless, if you like history go for it, you just might like it more than me!

I had a contracted photo shoot for the authors in my anthology at Longue Vue House and Gardens in New Orleans for a magazine doing an article about us. The contract and payment were done and settled earlier this week. When we arrived to the location with the photographer, we were met in the hallway by the Executive Director who immediately informed up they were closed. I explained to her we had a contracted photo shoot and my authors drove in from out of state. Then she told us they had an event at 10 am and we couldnt be in the house. I explained that we knew that already and were prepared to take pictures under covered areas outside per our agreement with their sales manager. Then she proceeded to tell us we could not shoot there, ask us how much did we pay and informed one of the authors that her husband could not be inside. She said we could just go and they will refund my money within 24 hours. The executive director said we should have been informed by the sales manager, I asked for her, but she said that she was gone and would not be back for 45 minutes. I proceeded to call the sales manager who I confirmed with the day before about where we needed to go and who to check in with, however she did not answer. Not only was me and the guest embarrassed in front of staff and others who were in the house, the ED was confrontational, rude and dismissive. In addition, we had to find another location and pay more money to be able to shoot. I would never recommend this place apparently contracts mean nothing!
