By far this is the worst contemporary art museum I have ever been in. I have visited well over 50 different contemporary museums and this is at the bottom. Virtually no exhibits. Open dead space. Terrible. And expensive admission. I was here a few years ago and it was much better. I don’t know what happened but for sure do not go.

It was great. Right in my neighborhood. Been meaning to go so we finally went since it was free to members of other museums this month. Great art! Very nice staff! They also have a very lovely nursing area for Mothers. Thats very cool. Not sure how often the art is changed out but what we saw was great!

Disgustingly priced for what you get, visited today and there is a tiny exhibit filled half with art from a local high school, should be advertised as a high school exhibit, go to noma art museum instead much larger and better for money in the area with a free sculpture park.

During my visit to New Orleans I had the pleasure of going to the Contemporary Arts Center. The industrial design of the building is a huge piece of art. The Sarah Morris exhibit was out of this world. The icing on the cake was when I meet Mr. Neil A. Barclay Director and CEO of the center.

Man, we go way back. Lol that’s not true, it’s only like what 4-6 years back or something? I don’t know and don’t really care-google just suddenly presented me w the opportunity to say hi and give my opinion. So yah! If you are a tourist and are looking to do something after you visited the WWII museum (cool let’s canonize war) then the CAC is your joint. You can find regurgitated traveling exhibitions that might be installed professionally (holler at my peeps) but come on-get some originality. There was once a great art-specific bookshop there-the only in all of the vastly creative city-but that’s gone. Basically every good local artist that has lived in New Orleans has worked there or was a founder, but there still aren’t sick immersive installations that show what New Orleans is capable of. I don’t know, maybe it’s the architecture of the building-no diss-it’s just clearly not a space committed to displaying what makes New Orleans artists different from the rest of the country/world. Time’s ticking, sadly.
