A small, totally wild and deep bowl - full of trees, thickets and trodden paths, approximately one square block. Not scenic but so unusual. Worth exploring, if your knees can take it.
Went sledding there it was awesome
I grew up near the Oval, as we knew it in the 1970s. As a little kid it was a wonderland of our own- and yes, we little kids of the 70s used that fabulous hill to slide down every winter.
Hidden gem in South Minneapolis.
A mysterious depression in the heart of a residential neighborhood. Perhaps the collapse of a limestone cave thousands of years ago. A geological anomaly transformed into an urban wilderness park. Get away from it all momentarily in the heart of the city. Yes you can go two blocks away for much more of the same at the river. But I think this is far more cooler.
My favorite neighborhood park, featuring a mini woods in a big pit. Fun sledding hill in the winter (not for young kids), and a great place for your dog to run around.
An interesting random little park to check out when going for a walk around the neighborhood. A big pit in the middle of Longfellow.
