This is one of my favorite walking places. Recently a number of Asian carp died along the shore of the Lake. The smell of dead fish cost it one star I dont know whats up with the park board but I assume Corona virus has prevented them from cleaning this up. Advantage of this Lake it doesnt get the mill foil build-up that these smaller lakes get. It is the beach area for a large portion of uptown as well so the beaches are usually pretty packed. It is a long walk but a wonderful one highly recommend.

Always a fun and interesting time. Boat rental can be found here, next to the large colorful chairs which you can sit on for a great picture by the by. Bde Maka Ska has a complete circuit for walking, biking, rollerblading, jogging. Lots of benches for wildlife watching or people watching. Lots of interesting characters

My friend and I have been walking at a lot of parks and trails recently. This place is so beautiful. This place has great walkways and other outdoor activities available (which we did not explore). It is kept clean and it is spacious, so you wont need to cram in a single file line to walk. Many people bike here too, so this is a great place to go to get out of your house and get fresh air.

Lake Bde Maka Ska is a wonderful place to walk, run, swim, bike, boat, sail, or just relax like a beach bum (no pun intended) over the summer. Its conveniently located in the Chain of Lakes in South Minneapolis. Its a really great place for those beginning runners who want to improve their times. In the winter there is both the Polar Plunge and my favorite the Minneapolis frozen 5k! All in all, Lake Bde Maka Ska is a great place for out of towners and those of us who cant get enough of running Minnesotas lakes!

The water is pretty clear here but the swimming area does not get very deep. The sand area is unfortunately very small but there is a lot of room to lay out in the grass and there is also a lot of shade if you want to stay out of the sun. Water was surprisingly warm(in summer of course), which is funny because this lake freezes over in winter.

Amazing area if you wanna go hiking, biking, rent a boat or a canoa, or just hang out with your friends at the beach. You can also choose between Calhoun (Bde Maka Ska) or Thomas which is more familiar, less people drinking and more quiet but also beautiful even it doesn’t have a beach though.Parking is really hard around but that’s ok if you’re patient you’ll find a spot.

I come here to rent out the kayaks and stand up paddle boards from Wheel Fun Rentals. They have a decent price range and the connected lakes gives you some room to roam for a few hours. Some times the staff is a little more attentive to their conversation than a customer standing next to them waiting, but standing next to the waters edge on a sunny day isnt a bad thing to complain about. My many experiences renting from them has always left me wanting to come back.

I LOVE bde maka ska. There is so much to do and so much space, you can sail, kayak, stand up paddleboard, paddle boat, canoe, swim, fish, and around the lake the paths are great, you can walk, run, bike, Rollerblade, hammock, picnic, heck unicycle! Tin fish is no longer there so food around the lake is not really there, but its a short walk from uptown and then there are many options.

What a perfect walking path around a goregous lake. Dog walkers (like myself), runners, bikers, walkers, joggers and rollerblades alike have enough path to go at their own pace. Plenty of benches, beaches, and banks to rest on. Even a restaurant is easily accessible to help your stroll be perfect. One of my favorite walking paths in the cities hands down
