The park is large and busy. People are good about wearing masks but not about keeping track of their dogs. We have only gone twice and the first time my dog was attacked and the owner was no where to be found. The second time, someone let my dog out of the park entirely leaving the gate open when they left. Like.. the number one principle of a dog park with the double gates. Wouldn’t recommend.

Great off-leash dog park for an urban area. Spacious and generally friendly dogs/people. People are good about keeping water bowls at the park. Mulch ground gets muddy sometimes. Giant flood lights keep it lit later in the evenings too, which is nice.

Physically, this is a beautiful dog park. Plenty of space to run around with an incredible view of the lake. I give it a 2 stars only due to owners allowing their aggressively behaving pups to come here. We’ve brought our older dog here (and to other dog parks) a multitude of times, so we are very familiar with how dog parks should work. We arrived here today and it was a battle of the dogs! Unlike anything I’ve ever seen before - so many violently aggressive dogs. If you know your dog hurts other dogs, please don’t bring them here until they’re ready. We’re all dog people, I get the importance of adopting aggressive rescue dogs - but it’s not fair of you to bring them here until they’re ready. If you’re not sure how to gauge that, work with professionals. There were too many innocent pups who were hurt today. We have a golden retriever pup who was completely torn into within just a few minutes here. The other owners say their large dog was playing, fell on our dog, when our pup was crying their dog took it as prey and a reason to attack him? Ok - get dogs like that out of a community space until they’re ready to play without hurting others. 100% owner’s responsibility to control their pups so that no one is hurt, and with that being said I can’t recommend bringing your dogs here until the aggression is controlled.

Such a nice spot to bring the dog to run off steam, it is also in a pretty spot accross from lake of the isles. They have a small dog side too. If you are from out of town the mpls. Parkboard has day passes you can use for the park.

Went on Saturday. So no surprise it was busy. But nice setup. Wood chips mostly everywhere. So if you go after a good rain, expect some muddy holes. There is a nice quiet area away from the busy area.

Smallish dog park, but theres dirt to dig, a log to jump on, and space to run about. There is a separate small dog/puppy area, and it is wheel chair accessable although the mulch may provide an obstacle. Most of the dogs are friendly, but watch out for people who bring their small dogs and puppies into the bug area- their dogs get played with too rough by a bigger dog and the little dog goes into fight mode.

A wonderfully peaceful place to relax with your best friend. Its nice that there is a separate fenced-in area for dogs under 20 pounds: a great idea for pooches (and owners) skittish about being aggravated by the bigger hounds. There are plenty of benches and picnic tables inside the area, many shaded by mature trees, which makes it most inviting.

My dog loves this park, she is able to play when she wants and just hand out by herself as well. I love the variety of dogs as mine is still a pup and is getting used to the big dogs. The owners are very friendly and I havent ran into anyone who does not know how to take care of their dog.Quick tip, dont sit in any of the plastic chairs or the edges of the benches.

This fenced in area is great for our dogs that have an off leash permit. A part of the park is for small dogs and the other section is for all dogs. There are benches to sit on. Your dogs will not be sitting. They are busy playing with other dogs and saying hello to the other people.

Its a really great dog park for size, but not patrolled often enough. Dog parks are hot beds for people who dont watch their dogs or arent licensed to even be there. Its also light on wood chips and strange that it doesnt have a sidewalk leading to the entrance.

Review №21

Very large and in a good location. Lots of trees so plenty of shade for those hot days. You do have to parallel park on the street but I have never found that to be a problem. Only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because there is no hoses anywhere to fill up dog water bowls. You have to bring your own bowls/water which is kinda inconvenient.

While its not the largest dog park in the world, its a good size with plenty of area for the dogs to run either in the shade or out in the open. Theres a large overhead spot light for when it gets dark late, and whomever is in charge is fairly good about updating the mulch on the ground and filling in the many deep holes the pups dig. Warning: it does get VERY muddy as the seasons change. All the pup parents are on top of their dogs - whether they slightly misbehave or use the facilities. Ive been here multiple times a week since I moved to the neighborhood about 8 months ago and Ive only witnessed 1 incident and it was an honest accident - which happens.Overall, it attracts good dogs, its well maintained, and I truly recommend bringing your fur babies in.

One of the best dog parks in Minneapolis (and thats saying a lot) including a large, mostly dry even on rainy days, area for all dogs. There is room to run, explore and areas to go for an uninterrupted game of fetch even on a busy evening. One of the best features is a separate area for small dogs and puppies under 20 pounds, with a separate entrance and connecting gate! A water source is the only thing missing, but there are nearby drinking water and restrooms about 100 yards east near the lake. Very responsible dog owners and visitors in my years of experience!

This is a great dog park because its so close to my house. Not the biggest or the best but very convenient. Owners and dogs here are usually very attentive to their pups and pick up after them.Theres a lot of regulars which is nice and bad. Good if you want to meet people not great if you looking to just chill with your dog.Overall though friendly people and good location.

This dog park is poopy. What genius came up with the idea to use brown mulch as ground cover in a dog park? You just about cant go there without stepping in schnauzer shizzle and dragging it into your car, and then possibly into your house! Probably designed by a cat person!

This and St. Anthony dog park are my favorite park to go to. Lake of the isles is more square, a little less muddy, has a small dog area (thats not used unless its very busy), and has a little nook off to the side which is nice if you want space away the main action. The owners have all been very responsible. The police check permits here often. Please purchase one! It goes to dog park upkeep.

Fairly small fenced in park with an even smaller small dog area next to it. There are benches and trees for shade. The ground is covered in wood chips, which is good, but the chips need to be replenished as a large area in the center is mostly just soil. A trip to this park within a couple days of any rain is sure to make your and your dogs paws quite messy. The other parks in the area (ie Minnehaha and Franklin) are larger. If you have a small dog or just want to sit on a park bench while your dog entertains himself off leash, this park may be for you.

The park is great! But because it is a smaller park, note that on gorgeous days, its packed to the brim and can get a little chaotic. Other than that, before and after the park you can go walk around lake of the isles as its right across the street. Great location. Easy parking. Well maintained park. Tip: bring water to share!Edit: changed from 4 to 2 stars. As of recent there have been multiple dog confrontations and injuries due to irresponsible dog parents neglecting to watch over their dogs and take responsibility for their behavior.

LOVE IT! Our dog is small (18lbs) but does better with bigger dogs, as she is dominant. She was timid at first because our old dog park never had even half the amount of dogs there are at the Lake of the Isles, but it took about 2 minutes before she was off on her own with the other dogs. We can sit back and relax watching her while she plays here and not worry.

Good place to run your dogs! However, you always need to pay close attention as there are a few dogs that are not very nice and there are several owners who dont pay attention to their dogs and just sit on their phones. As long as you pay attention and watch your dogs and the dogs around them, youll have a great time!

Always enjoy this park. Plenty of space, usually fairly busy, mulch ground cover.
