All I can say is Wow!!! I was sitting in my car and just enjoying the atmosphere the sun was shining and the wind was a nice breeze, of course my windows were rolled down. I was looking out the front window and all of a sudden I watched these two things coming up out of the water (excited) while still looking on I realized they were black dolphins first it was two than five and behind them two more followed behind did that ever make my day. I had never seen any in their own habitat Im from up north in Wisconsin.

I do park to park tours via water on my charter boat. Dock at Ft. Caroline location is now gone due to Hurricane damage. But the Kingsley Plantation dock (protected in sheltered waters versus the St. Johns River at Ft. Caroline) has my customers realizing the rich history we have here, and get zero credit for. If in need of a boat tour, click on my name for my info.

I will always love this place. My father used to bring me and my brother here when we were kids. I have so many fond memories of it all. Its been so long but doesnt seem like its changed much. My father recently passed away, so I thought it was only fitting to visit this place in honor of his memory. Very glad I could come back as an adult with my family and enjoy it in a completely different way. Beautiful beach with beautiful history.

This is a wonderful preserve located just outside of downtown Jacksonville. Included with Timucuan is Fort Caroline, an old French fort. Kingsley Plantation is also a must-see in the Timucuan Preserve. Lots of history plus lots of nature and beautiful thrown in for good measure.

Visiting the park was a beautiful experience. My family and I enjoyed an afternoon full of sunshine, conversation and walks on the paths. Its great to take some time to remind yourself of the incredible heritage that we have here in northeast Florida. These Huguenot were amazing people. Full of faith, tough and determined they shine as an example to us all.The Timucuan Indan were also very interesting peeps. They were peaceful and kind, intelligent and strong.Visit the park and enjoy a relaxed, lazy day with your family.

This is a nice peaceful park that has 2 main trails, with a few trails connecting the two. It has many beautiful sights to see, along with the aspect of being away from civilization, and the loveliness of nature. You can ride bikes, go for jog or a hike, or just take a scenic trip with friends to have a good time. In the summer the tree canopy keeps it cooler that the surrounding areas, and the forest allows for constant slight breezes. In the summer and fall, before it drops below 40* for the first time, there will be insects. I highly recomend insect repellent, as the horseflies and mosquitos will attempt to kill your mood, and you. If youre afraid of flying insects, this place will make you terrified, but apart from that, it is a really enjoyable enviroment.Overall the only issue that will arise here may be people, the more popular this place gets, the less parking will be. But you can park on the dirt road leading to the lot.

Always love walking the local habitats. Here on the side of the road is a great place to even park under a few trees and enjoy the life on the water ways, read a book or even fish although you doing see many catches. At night you can have a small fire near your vehicles and have Smores withthe kids.

The path we walked was really cool, there was a lot of historic sites with descriptive boards outlining the settlements and people who lived there. Was really interesting to read about the various different professions in the area and how there is a bit of mystery around exactly where the settlements were due to the bodies of water.Only complaint was I believed it to be an access point into the actual Marsh / swamp preserve to the north of the park, as that is how Google maps directed us.This is actually its own isolated park with no northbound access.

Got a little lost but there are a ton of trails to follow. The red one being the shortest. We took the green one and just ended up going back the same way because we were unsure of the other routes. The trail (green) can get steep so you are unable to bike ride, also has lots of lifted roots. They have one map towards the beginning before you can break off and I suggest you take a picture of it because they dont seem to have another map along the trails. Great for pictures. Saw a few snakes, a bunny and other cool insects.

Great place for a nice leisurely stroll. Some parts of the trail do have an incline. Fairly extensive network of trails. One can hike from the entrance on Mt. Good history as well as beautiful view some of the marshland near the Mill Cove/St. Johns River area.

Absolutely adore this place. It’s FREE parking and admission. It includes Kingsley Plantation and Fort Caroline. Over 6,000 years of history here. You can hike the trails that the Timucuan Indians use to walk. It’s right along the St. John’s River and salt marshes. Lots of beautiful hardwood hammocks also. We love to picnic here or bring our pups. You can see dolphins on good days. The Timucuan Preserve Visitor Center is really nice. Lots of exhibits to see and learn about the rich, local history. They also have a gift shop/bookstore. There are picnic tables scattered throughout mostly by the visitors center. The trails are pretty easy except for some places you need to watch out for. Bring plenty of bug spray. we use peppermint oil or basil oil, even for the pups. They have a Timucuan Village that shows the huts the Indians’ used and some oyster mounds. Fort Caroline National Memorial has cannons and a small fort on the river. We spend about 3-4 hours here and always something different. Highly recommend!

This place is awesome if you like being outdoors in Florida. That being said, it probably isnt everyones idea of a good time but its my thing and its just a 20 minute drive from most people in the city. If youre an outdoorsy type and you need a release from the grind, give this place a walk. There is a lot of history here to read about while walking and depending on when you go it can also be pretty desolate also. Great for when you want to be alone and reflect.

Two adults visited the Kingsley Plantation part of the Preserve on a quiet Monday afternoon. Very interesting history of early-to-mid 1800’s plantation life as mostly presented from the point of view of their slaves. The National Parks Service offers a free self-guided audio tour of the planation, which took us about an hour plus. Definitely worth hearing the tour. The actual plantation house is evidently only open on weekends. Enjoyed our visit but note there is a two mile or so semi-paved rutted access road to get to the plantation. About 1 ½ lanes wide.
