I took my kids on a vacation down to FL for a long skate trip to check out shops and parks down there, and wanted to bring them to Kona to check out the legendary park. Unfortunately they were closed, but understandably because of COVID.I remember the last time id been there the park was great and all the staff was very helpful and friendly. We headed down to their Stone Edge park in south daytona which was open and i wish I could say the same about them. Not the best experience but Oh well. hopefully well be able to make another trip to Jax after Kona reopens, my kids are looking forward to it.

I have spent a lot of time at this place in my life, as a kid in the 70s, as a young adult in the 80s and 90s and now as an old man, I still find myself visiting this place. Its magical to me. Recently we had a fundraiser for an old friend with cancer and it was great to see a lot of old friends in the place we started and grew our friendship. I will always be thankful this place is here.

What an iconic place to enjoy time with your kids or just shred some concrete. I first skated here in 1986 and although it has some new additions for modern skaters, it now allows anything with wheels (non-motorized of course). BMX bikes, scooters, heck Ive even seen someone on a uni-cycle here. Friendly and professional staff that promotes safety first and foremost. The crew here promotes positive and courteous behavior. I read last year that Kona was going to start renovating the park and it is my hope and wish that they keep the freestyle area, snake run, bowl with the original look and feel from the glory days of youthfulness concrete. If you dont know how to skate there are lessons for beginners and for those who want to improve their skills there are lessons for you too. Make it a day or a few hours to experience endless summers carving up the concrete.

Best paolid skatepark experience in Jacksonville. You pay 10 dollars to enter and 5 dollars for a helmet. For $15 dollars, you get a experience that you cannot forget. The park is well maintained and amazing. The park is huge and has room for many skaters to skate at once. I would highly recommend this place to skate if you are willing to pay.

Of course Kona is one of the oldest and most iconic skateparks in the U.S. and Jax is lucky to have it! The place is great, Skate, Scoot, Blades, Bikes... They allow it all at a fair price!Feels a little dated, the concrete/snake area is awesome and iconic but I really, really wish they would make better use of the huge pad they have though.. Its looking kind of barren lately, maybe they have plans already though. Who knows..The mini ramp/spine is awesome... the new bowl is awesome looking... But besides that its like scattered rails/ledges and a pyramid.... Even though they dont allow bikes in the new bowl which kind of sucks, maybe only ban bikes that have pegs or make it plastic pegs / pedals only and require bikes to have bar ends?! Idunno, skateboard axles even chip away at concrete. They should really start a go fund me or something similar(id be happy to donate a 20 or more if they promised some progress and allowed bikes on the new stuff lol..) to help bring the park up to date! It just feels like their is so much unused space and so little stuff to ride in what i consider the actual skatepark, they could easily add a handful of ramps. Maybe even a nice asphalt pump track and dirt jumps in that huge grass area they have!Anyways its a great place to ride/skate/scoot! The staff is always helpful and smiling. I just wish they would invest a bit more into it and make it the action sports park it could be. If they did I would go a lot more often.
