Surprisingly rich experience, museum offers a large Confederate and southern history library. As well as military uniforms, war gunnery, historical pictures of well known civil war Generals. The museum curator is informative and entertaining with his vast knowledge of Southern history. A must see for anyone interested in their Southern genealogy. Thank you for a well spent hour.
Great place to learn a little History
So many historical items which does require a guide to tell the stories. Not enough time to see it all. Wonderful library collections as well. This tour requires at least 2 hours.
John was an entertaining guide! Lots of wonderful history here. Favorite thing was the Lincoln flag!
Great place.
Great place to look at amazing artifacts and learn about them I could spend all day learning about history
Really informative check it out
Keeping heritages alive, and very informative
The gentleman working was very fun to talk to. He is big on the Civil War.
Great lecture and tour. I am in the Masters Program and was impressed with the extent of the knowledge of the tour guide. I did not see any bias or prejudice displayed. Great library for research. Fee is only a 3$ donation so you cannot beat the price.
So informative. Some history is hard to look at, to know what happened. But as long as we learn from our past we can hopefully put it to good use in the future. So happy I finally went!
Great place to learn about history for all aged kids. Great for school or camp field trips but suggest small groups.
It takes you back to the American civil war.

Great MuseumsGod bless the South &Trump
Please understand that this is not an enditement of the Museum of southern History but rather someone who miss-understands history to the point that they take their personal biass and even when historically proven incorrect, disrespect the patron.Well friends it appears that history is not the for-tay of the Museum of Southern History Facebook page or be it of the person who takes care of the Facebook page.He was incorrect with his assumption with respect to Inpressment Act vs Conscription/Draft and when corrected about the additional error he made of black servants and slaves NOT forced to work for the confederates and there is no evidence as to their history which in turn he then blocked me.He also stated that blacks were never forced to be used nor taken from their masters, and that Inpressment Act was the draft of whites.I am surprised but there are those even in the best of museum settings who are bias and un-open to historical documented fact. Even wrong and when corrected get upset. Hense the issue with many revisionists and people blinded by revision and myth. When challenged, folks like them act as if their feelings and self esteem are hurt when someone tries to prove that their opinion is faulty. They often think that those who challenge their ideas are attacking them personally which is not true. They are just one of those who are not afraid of knowing the truth so much as they are afraid of admitting they are wrong. They are ignorant and therefore make rash thought out decisions with no substance to back them up. Its not easy to admit they believed in nothing but miss-information whole life, but it would go a long way in proving a little maturity if they could act on facts rather than false Ideologies. In the end they only care about keeping their pride rather than caring about truth. We DONT need folks like that at our museums. They are a place or leaning and not personal bias and the uneducated.
