This park has a beautiful 4 mile walking trail that ends on the beach that is covered in beautiful driftwood and thousands of shells. We ended up on the beach part during high tide, so we all got wet, so if your arent prepared for that, planning is necessary. Otherwise it was a wonderful park. We even saw 3 turtles on the trail.

This is a quiet park for people who simply want to get away from the noise of the city. The entrance fee is $5.00 per vehicle and RVs are welcome but there is not a lot of room for more than three small RVs under 24 feet. Anything larger, especially a class A model takes up a lot of the parking spaces. If you arrive early you can pull up to the side away from others. This park is popular for bicycling. The trees provide much shade when riding but you still might want to arrive before the heat of the sun kicks in.There were a couple of families on the beach with their children and a few people fishing. It was not very crowded at all on the beach and there was not a life guard on duty. The pavilions were closed but there were about ten picnic tables on the parking lots. You can park your car next to a table and have a picnic right next to your car.If you have binoculars you can gaze across the ocean and observe the sailboats. But if you are a bird watcher this is not the park for that. Big Talbot Island, which is a couple more minutes up the road, is more condusive for bird watching. When it is really quiet, you can hear the sounds of many land creatures, and of course the sounds of waves.I would recommend this park for a short couple hours of getaway time and definitely for bike riders. If you are looking for a lot to do this is not the park for you.

My first visit to the big pine trail for a casual bike ride. Its all asphalt, paved the width of a wide sidewalk. Its pretty curvy and meanders through open wilderness, wooded areas, and has a stretch of boardwalk along the highway with water views on the opposite side. Very pretty.Traffic noise is prevalent due to its proximity to the highway, but the scenery kind of makes up for it. Its a heavily trafficked tourist spot, so parking on weekends is limited and you have to dodge family groups using the trail as a sidewalk for sightseeing. Its not super crowded, but be prepared for pedestrians to be blocking the full width of the sidewalk at times and not know what on your left means. I had to come to a stop a couple times. At one point a woman was sitting on the ground playing with her toddler blocking half the trail width. Just be prepared. If you speed bike, this is not a trail for you.

Really great for bird watching. If you go to the dock in the early mornings depending on time of year youll see a large variety of wading birds including roseate spoonbills. The wooded areas between campsites are also filled with woodpeckers, warblers, thrushes, Chickadees and titmice you just need to sit for awhile and let your eyes follow the songs to find them . The beaches are also great for laughing gulls, brown pelicans, willets, ruddy turnstones, sanderlings, royal terns and sometimes even a Caspian tern. There were even a pair of oyster catchers nesting there in 2019.

Miles of wild beach. Easy to find a private spot. Lots of nature, wildlife, wildflowers, gopher tortoises, etc. The ranger said theyve lost 100 feet of beach already to sea level rise. The high tides are up into the sea oats and dunes. Ive been coming here for 35 years. Seeing the trees die/dunes disappear and knowing whats in store with climate change is a little sad. But beauty and wild energy is what Little Talbot is all about. Come explore here! Outdoor showers, changing rooms, and picnic tables. Bring drinking water.

A group of 4 of us (all women) stopped here on our way to Amelia Beach from St. Augustine and it was so beautiful. Theres a long boardwalk that takes you out to the beach. We walked the beach looking for shark teeth and we ended up seeing a couple of dolphins swimming and jumping out in the ocean. It was just a really nice area with decent bathroom/changing facilities as well. It does cost $5 to get into the park, but it was worth it. And we only stayed for about an hour.

A really wonderful beach. We saw a turtle munching on grass, birds skimming the water with their beaks open to eat bugs, and lots of shells. The dunes are very pretty and the beach is really long so perfect for long walks and having a private area to relax. When the tide is part way up, a shallow area of warm water is created that is very fun to walk or splash about in.

This was such a relaxing afternoon. Parts of the beach have a dip along the shoreline so you can sit in water and not be hit by the waves to search for shell treasures or just soak in the atmosphere. The water was a fabulous temperature in June. We only spent a few hours because we got hungry so bring snacks, drinks, and food if you plan on spending the day. There arent any restaurants within a distance most people might want to walk.

Fun beach area! Lots of seashells and warm water. I would definitely reccomend checking your GPS before leaving as there is only one road to Talbot. If there is an accident or any road work traffic can be backed up for quite some time. Parking is $5.00 and the park closes at 8:45 PM. There are changing areas, bathrooms, and a place to shower off.

My family and I absolutely loved camping at Little Talbot Island! This was our first time camping here and is now on our top list of favorite Florida State Parks to camp in. Site #40 is AMAZING!!! Its on a little bend with only one other campsite diagonal from it barely in view - no neighbors on either side of behind. We felt completely secluded and private - LOVED! Its also right next to a nice little trail. Some other camp sites looked really small and not much privacy but #40 is perfection. Its a small campground but beautiful and well maintained. We biked across the road (almost 2 miles) to the beach side of Little Talbot - beautiful beach! Fernandina and Amelia Island are a short drive away if you want some entertainment, shopping, restaurants, etc. The rangers at check-in were very welcoming and friendly. The bathrooms were clean. Overall, extremely happy with our stay here and will definitely be back.

What an amazing park. The water was pretty chilly but its February so thats to expected. The beach sand is nice and soft but there are shells everywhere so walking barefoot was a little rough. Also be careful of walking off the sand or walkway, there are little prickers everywhere that hurt pretty bad in the bottom of your feet. Founds several sand dollars and lots of shells. Our fault entirely for not thinking so be better prepared than us. Take water and reasonable walking attire as well. Trail clearly marked until you get to the beach. Just turn right and follow your nose until you see people and the path back to the car park. Which is not clearly defined either. It was a hot and humid day, we may have seen more wildlife/nature if we had not been marching to outsmart the mosquitos (which we failed to do). For two 200 bites. Would we go back? Stayed in December. This place is very unique. Definitely do the 4 mile or so hike that takes you down the beach. If in winter, plan your beach section to walk with the wind, and against the wind while inland. This works out well. Lots to do and see here in all seasons. The campground is very tight. Some spots are way too small and difficult to park, so choose carefully. The road system of the campground needs work. The bathroom near our campsite was an igloo inside due to too much airflow. Do not visit this campground if you value the electronics in your RV. I was assigned site17 and I have a circuit tester and although it did not register any problems with a faulty circuit, the power levels went up and down. My air conditioning was jumping on and off, the cycling up and down, and my batteries were not charging. I called the campground office and they said, oh yes, our polls are at the end of their life cycles and they do have problems with power stability. Currently, Im trying to get changed to another site, but Im not sure if I should plug in my $80, 000 coach to some bad electrical outlets that may damage my electronics and appliances. Beware!!!!!
