Quiet beach on the south end of the island. Popular past times are fishing, 4-wheeling and horse back riding. Be respectful though because much of the beach is closed, protected wildlife habitat. This beach is not good for collecting seashells. For that I would suggest the north end of the island.

Amelia Island State Park is on the south end of Amelia Island. The entrance fee is $2 per person. I have been here a couple of times and my favorite thing is to access the more remote areas by four wheel drive vehicles. Most of the beach areas can be reached by horseback or 4X4. The times that we have visited, the more remote areas were not crowded. There are lots of shore birds to see. Many people enjoy fishing from the beaches. There is a horse ranch that provides beach/trail rides around the park. Please follow the posted signs, stay off the dunes, and be aware of the tides. At high tides there is much less room to drive. This is a great park to visit, enjoy the beautiful seashore, and get that Jeep away from the mall!

I came here on a whim and was impressed. This is more of a fishing park but its got a great setup. The fishing pier is a nice long walk even if you arent fishing, and most of the people on it are very friendly. You get some great views. It was also pretty good for bird watching!

This is a nice, quiet beach thats far from the tourist spots. Its a bit small, but the lack of people makes up for it.I wish I knew there was a fishing pier, and a nice one as well. Not sure if FL requires a fishing license though (TX does). This was a nice break from all the tourist spots I stopped at during my vacation in FL.

A beautiful park wrapping around the south side of Amelia Island. With white, wide sandy beaches along the ocean, and narrow marsh-side beaches perfect for fishing, and lots of paths in-between, its a wonderful place for a quiet beach day.

Love the fishing pier!! “Pier” is the old A1A bridge and it allows for plenty of room even on busy weekend days. Park also allows access to the beach for swimming or surf fishing. Beach is drivable with 4x4. Bait shop and the couple that run it are great! They have snacks and even sandwiches. If you are looking for live bait you need to stop at one of the other bait shops on the way to the park. Bait shop at the park only has frozen. It is a hike from the parking lot (especially the overflow) we usually bring bikes and a cart.

My fishing spot for the lay 20yrs. The park requires a fee of $1 per vehicle occupant. The parking lot isnt really monitored and is dark at night, but Ive never had a an issue with break ins or theft. They also have a bait n tackle shop as well as restrooms. Fishing is done on a bridge that use to be the main highway. Lots of room and space. They also have a cleaning station on the bridge to clean your catch. Equipped with a water hose and cutting board. You can also fish from the beach like area. If u go on the beach area/dunes u MUST have a 4 wheel drive vehicle or u will be stuck in sand.

We went there on Labor Day. With that in mind the crowd wasnt bad at all. But the beaches in Ft. Clinch were more secluded and got to see the fort as well. There were a lot more people fishing from the beach at the this park and vehicles were allowed on the beach.

Had a great time on this beautiful beach! There were more than 10 vehicles stuck even with 4wd just that we saw! One person got a $100 fine for not having 4wheel drive. Locals said that its not normally that sandy. Other than that it was great! Family friendly too! Lots of people fishing, horseback riding, windsurfing, sunbathing and playing in the water/sand. I love being able to drive on the beach, setting up, and picnicking!

Came here to go swimming, but after paying $8 to get in found out that swimming is not allowed because of dangerous currents. Also the self registration mentions writing the same number from a tag to an envelope, but there is no number on the tags. We were starting to back up traffic trying to figure it out, so we just tossed in the money and hoped for the best. The park itself looks niceand there were a lot of people there, so it must be nice. We ended up not staying because there was no swimming.

Another one of my favorite fishing spots. Great for fishing from the bridge or beach. Can get a little crowded when the days are really nice. It costs $2 per/person to park. Parking is not too far from the beach or fishing, but you definitely get your steps in. If you ha e a 4 wheel drive you can drive onto a portion of the beach. They now have a fish and tackle shop open at the beginning of the fishing bridge as well. You catch a wide variety of fish there: Whiting, Red Drum, Black Drum, various species of sharks, trout and much more...

Beautiful place to be. There is a small per person fee to enter the park [$2.00 per person].So much to do here. They have a nice huge asphalt parking lot.You can fish off of the old bridge. Its similar to pier fishing. It is a bit of a walk and I would suggest light tackle or a fishing cart. Many people even rig their bikes with gear to help with the load. The fishing can be very rewarding as many spices of fish are often caught here. Also you have the ability to take 4x4 vehicle out along the river and around the point to the ocean side. The entrance is generally pretty soft sugar sand and along the river if it is high tide it is also very soft. They do close off different parts of the park to vehicles during different times of the year for the nesting birds. My favorite thing about this park is the uniqueness. You can watch many spices of birds around the park, there is a horse ranch on the property and the often do horse rides down the beach and of course the great fishing opportunities. Its a beautiful place to go and soak up some sun rays and relax and enjoy some of the east coast beauty!

One of a few places where you can drive on the beach (in a bay) until you find a spot to set up for the day. However, dont attempt this without a 4-WHEEL DRIVE vehicle. You WILL get stuck in the sand. There is plenty of parking in a nearby lot if you wish to walk to the beach.

Its nice but really far for handicap people to walk because i thought it was a family rec park well anyway my grandfather told me about a spot he saw off side the road he wanted to fish for a while so i told him i would bring my beach cart its nice to drive on the beach and everything but elderly people dont walk as quick as other people and lets just say he couldnt stop talking about how nice the bathrooms were and how he saw a sign that said dont clean your fish in the bathroom it got me and him laughing so hard it spit out hes teeth and says that sign got him good but everything esle was awesome just the only thing i would like to see improve is a shorter more direct path to the restroom areas for the elderly in mind just trying to thing of everyone and would for sure make amelia island one of the most recommend

Awesome place to go! The park is well maintained and very clean, its only $2 per person to get in and its on the honor system, you stop at the payment box get an envelope detach the permit put the money in the envelope drop it in the box and then hang the permit from your rearview mirror. As you leave the parking lot (you will need a 4x4 or AWD vehicle) and head towards the Beach you will be on the channel side on the southern end of the Island as you go around the point you come to the ocean side and its a great place to go swimming and spend the day with your family and friends. Its regularly patrolled by the sheriffs department but there are no lifeguards on duty, the water is shallow and gradually gets deeper the further you go out from the shore line. I highly recommend this place!
