Wineries is what we do every week. This was our third stop today. I tried everything they had in stock and I have to say I am sorry I do not believe this place can stay open serving wine. Everyone of the wines had a strong vinaigrette taste, that almost turned my stomach. There is another signature wine with a hot pepper which nearly burned my taste buds out. The BBQ was alright and perhaps the only saving grace. The brisket was pretty good and almost perfect if he adds a little more Kosher salt when smoking. I think another also comment that the pulled pork was a little dry but the sauce was pretty good made with wine. Last comment: go for the food and skip the wine.

This is a small storefront, with hopes of expanding. I had the Jazz it Up wine. I would not recommend it. I could find no flavorful notes, and I was unable to finish it. There is a pretty big selection of wines, perhaps choose another. The Here Piggy Piggy Piggy sandwich was recommended. The sausage didnt have much smokiness to it, it was basically a kielbasa. I had the two meat option with beans for my platter. The pulled porks flavor was pretty good, but it was slightly dry. I opt for my BBQ to always be served without sauce. I did try the sauce on the side. There is no tomato in their sauce, which is interesting. My friend liked it. I thought it was much like a thick, saucy version of liquid smoke and I didnt find that it enhanced the meat. The brisket was by far the star, I highly recommend. It was cooked well. The beans were decent. More on the thick side, and also there was meat in them, which I prefer. He said they just started doing BBQ at the beginning of this year so I hope they keep working to perfect it. Its a tough market to be a star in BBQ in KC. The entrance and restrooms are not accessible. This is a historic building and not really built to accommodate.

Coronavirus protections are observed diligently here. The wines are tasty, creative, and locally-sourced. Barbecue is top notch, baked beans are to die for, tacos are great for their price, and the staff is friendly and authentic.

The wine is fantastic. The ciders are a hit, and to top it off they have bbq. Really great bbq. Wish I could give 11 stars.

Ive been here a few times for events and just for stopping in while Im on the square. Ive never had a bad experience - the staff is always friendly and helpful, they let you sample, there are good sales, and their pineapple cider is the absolute best for a hot day. Actually this is where I get a few of my favorite flavors - the chocolate cherry wine is also so good.

Hubby and I just ate there tonight. We had their ham sandwich special along with baked beans. Great smoked flavor! Their bbq sauce is made in-house and is made with wine!! Amazing!! We’re going to go back and try their ribs. Oh, got a bottle of watermelon hard cider to go and am drinking a glass right now. You’ve gotta check out this little gem right off the square. They’ve got more than just great wine!

The hard ciders are AMAZING! I unfortunatly didnt get the in-store experience but would love to stop in sometime. I would love to see the place my friends bought this cider from! Dont even get me started on the BBQ! To die for. Keep up the good work! #staylocal

Nice little place,not sure about the wine but the brisket and the spicy sausage sandwich were pretty darn good,glad we stopped.

My wife and i love trying local wineries! We never got to try Top Hat. Went on 11/23. They had a couple girls behind The bar doing tastings and we stood 15min and nothing was said to us about someone would be with us shortly or anything. Every winery we ever, ever been to acknowledges or fits in people. A lady actually got in front of us after a few people got a tasting done and both ladies seen my wife and i standing the whole time waiting and the server actually helped the lady who got in front of us! I just threw my hands up and said, we are leaving . Im sure the wine is good but i wont be back

Great Wine and really good BBQ, a must if your in independence. You wont be disappointed.

Top Hat has a very friendly staff and a great selection of wine. There are even some limited time, seasonal, and sample wines periodically as well...which makes repeat visits fun and worth the drive. Thank you for the hospitality. We will be back!

We stopped in on a quiet Saturday evening. The wines were pretty good, and Rhonda was helpful. However, we prefer dry wines, and there was only a couple of dry wines to sample. The do have a variety for sweet lovers, though.

Ny wife and I love Top Hat Winery. The selection is great, the cider is amazing, and the atmosphere is inviting. Troy and Missy are both great and during our visit to Indendance Square even made great suggestions for our lunch. Loved visiting this place and recommend it for all you wine lovers out there!

My brother and I took our mother here for Mothers Day and had a blast! We enjoyed a few wine samplings and decorated a couple wine glasses! If youre in the market for local, unique wines, then check out Top Hat. The staff is friendly and works hard at their craft.

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon (4/6/19) with some friends who talked highly of their wine and the owner. I dont drink wine (both red and white) just because I cant stand the taste. I was told about the six samples that they do so I thought Id give it a shot. I tried two wines and four ciders (Raspberry, Plum, Apricot and Elderberry). I wasnt too fond of the Elderberry but the other three were REALLY good. I dont recall the name of one of the wines I tried but the one that stood out was DERANGED (their Moscato). Ive never tried a Moscato before so I dont know if I just happen to like that type or if I would only like Top Hats Moscato. Either way it was delicious and now thats all I can think about. I wish I could have purchased a bottle (or even an entire case of it). I will definitely be going back to give them more business and to stock up on the Moscato. Also, I cant remember the employees name that was helping but she was great. She was nice and listened to my questions about each wine and cider I was sampling and she was wearing a T-Rex/ ET shirt.

I just love this place. The owners Missy and Troy are the nicest people. Love that the wine is made on site with Missouri sourced produce and bottles. Learned a lot about a domestic wine. Great variety, something for everyone. The atmosphere is charming and easy going.

Went there when they first opened. Very friendly environment but they have a serious bottling issue. We bought two bottles of wine; one was a peach and the other was coffee. Last night, we were trying to figure out what was smelling of alcohol in our kitchen and the coffee wine, which had never been opened was leaking in the wine rack. It had been leaking for a long time for the bottle was almost empty. We decided not to chance things with the other bottle so we threw it out to.
