Extraordinary! The Park Service staff was warm, friendly and enthusiastic! Like a time machine Journey back into history. The experience of visiting his home brought President Truman, and his family back to life. What a Treasure!

A good place to start your Truman tour in Independence. National Park staff is knowledgeable and happy to share info. The movie is short and gets you in the spirit of the times Truman lived in, putting some perspective on his hometown. Various artifacts of his are displayed; a case of his favorite soda, clothing, and several photos are also worth a look. If you would like to tour the Trumans home, tickets must be obtained at the visitors center. The tickets are free but they have a limited amount available each day, get them early.

Really kind of a neat place, the staff is very friendly. You must come down to this Visitor Center before going to the home, get a ticket and sign up for one of the scheduled tours. You cant just show up at the home and go on a tour. Kind of something you learn when you show up.

The best parking is right next to the visitor center! So useful!

Probably the worst visitors center Ive been too. The ranger was not friendly or helpful. She didnt tell us about other parts of the site (Noble Home) that were could visit without a tour ticket. There are no displays about Truman in the visitors center. There is a 12 minute video about Truman and his wife, but thats all its about, nothing about him growing up or his presidency or anything like that, so dont expect that. The gift shop is pretty good. This is probably the smallest visitors center Ive been to and there just wasnt much there and its a ways from the actual home so its hard to find.

The visitors center is a good place to get information and come in out of the heat while you wait for your tour. The tickets are not available here. However, there is a restroom.

My favorite President, well worth the trip and time. Just an amazing time in our history and they have left it just like President Truman and his wife did when they passed.

I liked this pretty place, but I feel like they could do more with it. The sign indicating where it is was confusingly placed. I turned in to a little dead-end street next to it before I got the right street. The parking lot and all the grounds seem to be kept in very good shape. Theres an audio tour you can call in to on your cell, which is clever, as otherwise youd just be looking at some locked up buildings and two explanatory signs.

This is a little oasis in a busy area. There is an audio tour but the buildings were closed. If they added a few trashcans and picnic tables it would be an excellent park.

Great museum in Missouri - something we need more of in general. But this one is an historical artifact in its own right.

A bit disappointed...no buildings are open for tours, but the compound, though small, is well groomed. The outdoor buildings (outhouse and small barn) were overgrown and falling apart. We were expecting to spend a few hours here, but were done within 15 minutes as there wasnt a whole lot to see.
