Really nice place. Nice dogs and people as well. Has poop bags available and a trashcan. There was water fir the dogs in buckets and it had the cool dog trick area too. HUGE dog park
Very nice park with a MO Conservation area adjacent so nice looking trails to use too.
Great place to get a COVID-19 test. The spit kind, not the rotorooter the brain kind.
Got some good drone footage with the Spark here.
It was a typical awning with a couple of metal benched picnic tables but it was kept and it was clean
Great park thats tucked away from any busy roads. Clean, well managed grass, great walking paths, and more. I usually come here to play on the tennis courts and they are superb. Highly recommend coming here.
Nice park, 2 shelter houses with grills, 3 baseball diamonds, tennis court and 2 dog parks. Walking trail also. Restrooms at both shelters.
Love the atmosphere and the pavilion is really nice with electricity.
Candle light vigil was done at night.
Good little place to chill, nice trail walk, a lot of shaded area ..oh and yes good size playground for the kiddos!
Great open area, but public restrooms are disgusting.
Neat place to take the kids
It had a few nice newer pieces of play equipment, and a nice walking trail. But not a huge park. Only one shelter I could see, and a few shady vehicles pulled in to just park for a while then pull off, so I would never leave my eyes off my child for one second.
The park is big and spacious. It has a calming quality that is nice for romantic walks with your partner.
Great trails for walking dog as well as off leash park, tennis courts and play area. A fantastic park for the whole family.
A lot of activities provided and well spaced out
I have great memories here with the kids. The tennis courts are great. Theres a small waking path across from the courts that goes around in a circle where Ive seen deer. Also, theres a dog park. Pretty safe area for children.
Love this park. Best tennis courts.
Close to home . Baseball, tennis, skateboard, picnic facilities, and a dogpark.
Great park. Play tennis with my daughter here. 2 separate play areas a nice little area to just sit and enjoy the day. 2 baseball diamonds and a hiking trail. I havent been on it so not sure of the condition but the wooded area is fun to run around in with my son.
Lots of open space. It has an assortment of things to do in the area. There is a fenced in dog exercise course for those with high energy dogs, both a fenced in baseball diamond and tennis court as well as various jungle gyms about and a few trails to walk on and public restrooms
I appreciate the dog park. Our rescue likes making new friends.
I was hesitant to take my dog down here since it was just me and I was unfamiliar with the area. But my pharmacist actually highly recommended me to go check it out, and Im glad I did. Only thing I dont care for are the buckets of water for dogs to drink out of haha. I dont know what other dogs could have or what could have been put in there by other people (sad but its the world we live in) so I wish they were outside of the fence so you could have a choice to let your dog drink out of them but other than that the area is fantastic
My dog needs people + other dogs
Great park to go smoke at night not alot of people hardly crowded great for kids during the day
Sunshine and a dog park.
Well maintained picnic spot. Nicely mowed. Restrooms are marginally decent.
Grounds were large and open. But the gates barely work and the middle gate separating both yards is completely broken. It needs to be fixed
Decent place to take the pup though even there they judge a book by its cover. My lil Staffordshire looks like a pitbull but is all lover. I wish some of the park goers knew that. But the park itself is decent...just wish the partition wasnt necessary.
We love this park fun safe and clean with a beautiful view
Clean, well kept
Well taken care of, pretty good sized group from around 12-1:30
Nice park
Honestly, I trily love this park. Independence Park and Rec never seems to fail. They keep the park upkept all the time. Playground equipment clean and trash is sparsely seen. They have multiple playgrounds, tennis courts, and fields to enjoy. They also have a smaller skate park that I see seldom used. I tend to bring my 2 dogs to the dog play area and the locals are friendly and will be the first to say Hi! and spark a conversation. Overall 5 out of 5
Dog park, baseball fields, walking trail, tennis courts, skate park, and two mini-playgrounds with nice equipment (one being geared more towards smaller kids). There are shelters for eating. There are bathrooms, but Ive never used them. Something about park bathrooms has always skeeved me out. This is a nice park though. Pretty clean & tucked away in a residential area. Doesnt get too crowded.
Terrible park kids spray painting everywhere kids bringing weapons city wont listen to neighborhood who complained of homeless and drug use at night. Be careful here and dont go after sunset its not safe
Nicely equipped, wide open spaces, good parking. Needs better signage to follow
We go to the dog park. Our dogs love running around and playing. Just wish they had more stuff for big dogs
Great dog park. Just simple large fenced in area that can be divided in 2 via fence
A nice quiet place to have lunch and let the kids play!
Awesome Double Gated Fully Fenced Off Leash Dog Park!!!!
Great park for kids of all ages
The charter to the park was Great its my phone that keeps having a problem
Good place for all. Kids have stuff to do while parents do other stuff.
2 great playground, 2 ball fields, many tennis courts, and potties!
The dog park itself is nice, but the majority of the dogs that are at the park probably 90% of the time I go are large, aggressive, scary breeds, that act like it too. One person even brought an illegal half-wolf once and it tried to kill my dog. Very rarely is there more than 3 dogs at a time, so it’s really hit and miss if there’s other well behaved/playful dogs for your dog to play with. The watering station is located outside of the fenced in area for some reason I don’t understand and is only turned on in the summer months.I’ve been to this park about 30 times and have only gone back because it’s down the street from my house and I keep telling myself I’ll give it another shot, but I leave disappointed the majority of the time. For reference I have a golden retriever, but I will say if you have a small or even medium sized dog- I can’t recommend you bring your dog here. I don’t know what it is about citizens of Independence wanting huge, aggressive dogs. Careless owners as well who do nothing to stop their dogs when they get snappy. A pit bull ran up on me as well trying to attack me but the owner got it just in time. It was beyond just a bite, i could tell he wanted to kill me. I’ve never been so afraid for my life.So the problem with this park isn’t so much the park itself, but the other dogs that come. As someone who’s been many times I can say that you see all the same people, so if you have a bad experience once, there’s a good chance your next visit will be the same.
Park is always clean. Kids play area is usually in good shape
Bring daughter here. Had her birthday Pinata done here near picnic area.
Great park. Been going to this park since I was a kid. Its bigger and a lot more improvements done to it makes this park still one of my favorites!
A park without a bathroom is a terrible park
My neighborhood park, safe for families and peaceful enough for reading or studying
Fun park. Our homeschool group meets up here sometimes.
Ive lived near this park for over 5 years and its very nicely maintained. The dog park is large and fenced in with plenty of shade on one half, completely open on the other. The sports practice fields are in great shape and see visitors fairly regularly. The playground is usually well maintained and is colorful. Theres also a few grills and a large gazebo for group gatherings. Just nearby on the South road of the park are 2 entrances to the Lipton Conservation Area, a nature walking and biking path with woods to enjoy.
Great place to get in some walking exercises.
Everything was really nice. Only complaint was the lack of ground under the swings from dragging feet lol! Need to refill the holes...ty City of Independence for the wonderful parks!
Nice dog park.
Great park has multiple tennis courts and baseball diamonds. Multiple walking trails. Has big area for dogs to play with other dogs. A small area for skateboarding. And a decent area for little kids to play.
Good park to ride bikes or your onewheel.
Great park!!! Was clean and safe and plenty to explore.
Go there to skate at the skate park! Its a beginners course so its easy for me!
Great place for dogs to socialize and play.
I remember the first time I discovered this place, it was on accident when I took a wrong turn. LOL If you blink, youd miss it because its somewhat hidden within the windy roads of the neighborhood, but once you find it, youd be surprised at how big it is. Wonderful place to hang out and play. There is a dog park (which my dogs love) baseball fields, tennis courts, small skate park, walking trail, LOTS of parking space, two separate playground areas, sheltered eating area, and bathrooms (which are locked 90% of the time) but overall a really nice park. Very spacious! Probably my familys second favorite park next to the waterfall park next to Bass Pro.
Lots of trails and a skate park
Love this place
Pretty good as far as dog parks go. Plenty of space for them to run around and a few obstacles for training. However, there is no parking lot, no small dog area, and the only water fountain is outside of fenced area.
Went to shoot model rockets since there isnt many people there most of the time
Dog park is mostly well behaved and rarely an issue but that all depends on the dog and owners too.
I love this park for many many reasons
Ive had many birthday parties at this park. The pavilion has lots of tables, play park, and small baseball field across the street. Great for kick ball!!
It ok to take your dogs to
Great park. A lot to do. However being a tennis player all of the courts need resurfaced and painted.
Love watching the people and the dogs and the bathrooms are clean
Good park with tennis, a playground, a trail and plenty of space as well as a nearby dog park. Lots of fun to go with family and friends. No good hills for sledding though. In case you were wondering.
Good dog park, fun run for the pups. They always have good time meeting the other dogs.
Awesome place to take the kids
Very good place to relax and great place to go to just chill out.
Great park for kiddos
Best place to bring kids....
Cute beautiful park right in the middle of city. Dog park was great relief for our puppy to run and play.
Very well kept
Such a well kept and pretty park
Bright, kid-friendly playground!
It is nice park but some people are not picking up after there dogs
Has 2 different play section. A couple walking paths. A tennis court and a very nice dog park with a training section!
Good dog park here. Remember to clean up after your dog please.
The dog park is simply a fenced in rectangle about the size of a soccer field with a small grove of mature trees and four benches. There is a gate so that you can split it is half, probably to separate large and small breeds or puppies, but it is usually left open. People bring lawn chairs and hang around when it is nice out. I have been told theres a Facebook page for friends of the Santa Fe dog park. Everyone I have encountered seems friendly enough, but everyone needs to clean up the feces their dogs leave behind, not just a portion of patrons. Bags are provided, but there are no watering stations like I have seen at larger dog parks in KC.
Nice but the park doesnt catch enough- air- not enough- play dogs
Nice park
Nice park. Needs attention though. Lots of shade!
There was a dog at this park much larger than my dog Max and this dog was allowed by his master to bully my dog. He insisted his dog was just playing after my dog was flipped over and held down by the larger dog. The larger dog was growling most of the time and someone who was with the digs master supported the dogs bullying so I immediately left the park.
I love this park. They have a small agility course and a little pool for the dogs.
I was here for the dog park which is a great place top take your dog to run free
Nice park. Not sure what area for dogs.
It needs more restrooms and to be more open restrooms for the public that comes there
Fresh air and somewhat normal people.
Best place to enjoy a sunny day.
Great tennis courts. Tennis group meets every Tuesday Thursday and Saturday, sunrise, winter is 10:00 on Tuesday and Thursday
