We had the most wonderful visit. Nicole greeted us at the desk and her communication skills were excellent! Welcomed us and gave us the scoop on everything going on. Room was clean with a great view.Wonderful!!

Clean pretty property located on the beach in Sea Pines. Note - there is no beach or poolside bar or restaurant like other Marriott properties in Hilton Head. This is bc Sea Pines wants to funnel the masses through their other big marina attractions. Its basically a 10 bike or car ride to Harbor Town. About the same to Salty Dog. The beach is clean and not very crowded here. They have a kids pool too.

Perfect for families,a few rooms are ocean view but u are close to the ocean,walking distance carrying things.Felt safe in gated community and hand sanitizing stations through out property. Beautiful property would definitely stay again.

Well-kept property. Construction of some sort in progress. The gated parking stays pretty full. A free lot fills with beachgoers. Staff all seem friendly.

Fantastic family getaway. The rooms are spacious and clean. The pool is fantastic for kids of all ages. The beach is amazing for mining and evening walks with nice sand between your toes.We have been to the area twice. While Sea Pines takes some getting used to, the resort is fantastic.

Terrible building accessibility; you cannot get your luggage to the elevator without walking over 500 up what They call a wheelchair ramp. Where the elevators are there are 10 steps up to elevator. Just carry Every piece of luggage up 10 steps to elevator!! My views are very simple to fix but when I tried to talk to several persons about this they were very rude. I will add pictures later....

Staff at the desk, Nicole and purple hair as I jokingly called her were great! Very helpful. We called 2 nights for towels and received them promptly. Also, not realizing we were responsible to take trash out, when we called, staff came by and picked it up. Great customer service!

What an incredible property beach front on the top rated island in the continental us according to digital dealer magazine. We love it here! Live every day as if it were your last!

This is an amazing property with extremely kind and helpful staff. The Island in December is so quiet... no lines, no rushing, just relaxing. The hot tubs are always empty, all activities ready for you, and walking on the beach feeling like your the only one... what being on an island was ment to be.

Nice, smaller resort. Very cozy for the family. It was nice to be inside Sea Pines and bike everywhere. Staff were wonderful. I gave only 4 stars because it needs some upgrades which are coming soon.

The condo was spacious and well-stocked. The resort itself has a nice pool, hot tubs, ground, etc. Would definitely like to go back sometime!

Loved it here! The foilage, the grounds, the pools! The rooms are large and inviting...comfortable furniture and mattresses. Updated appliances. Plenty of lighting and a huge master bath ( handicapped unit). Loved the shower and shower head. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 (or more if possible) was the paths to the pool and beach were difficult to walk, especially with a wheelchair, because the sloping of the paths and ramps.

Nice place on HH. A bit dated but they maintain it well. House keeping was great during our stay. Pool area tidy and uncrowded despite a full house. Beach is very nice.

Monarch was great for us but I suggest if you have any physical ailments or limitations please ask for a handicap room.They had the lobby blocked off so we had to push luggage cart all the way to where the car was parked, quite a task! Very inconvenient

Great place! Lots to do around Hilton Head island, the place was well cleaned, and sanitized.

I liked the location of the property, within the Sea Pines area and on the beach. The property was nicely arranged and the units were very spacious. The units we upgraded nicely though some of the items, such as the front door and kitchen cabinets were older. Front door was very difficult to open. Staff friendly and grounds very well maintained. Great trip.

Beach adjacent property although majority rooms are not beach facing. Accommodation is suited for long term stay. Families can enjoy lot of activities.

Recently renovated and very cozy. Villas are well designed and very tastefully furnished. Ours was a two bedroom villa with firm and comfortable beds and a humongous power shower in the master bathroom that was just perfect after a long drive. The living room sofa bed was made from a very nice memory foam and very comfortable.The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. Bobby was exceptional. The coffee at the front desk was a little pricey, I believe they said the mug was something like $3.00 and the coffee itself was an additional cost. Since this is a property without dining facilities, I think some free or reasonably priced coffee or tea would be a welcome value addition to guests. An indoor or heated pool would also make for great future enhancement.We had initially booked one night using Marriott reward points, but we had planned to extend our stay for two additional nights. There seemed to be a conflict between the front desks system and customer services system, both were seeing reversed availability. In the end we could not extend so we had to move to a different Marriott property, however we were grateful for a slightly late check out since we had arrived quite late. We certainly plan to return to the Monarch when we can stay longer and I would recommend this property without hesitation.

Very nice resort type place... excellent staff... Very Clean... Only thing I would have done differently is the 1st floor room I was in was next to very loud elevator mechanical room that went up and down all night... But I would definitely stay there again because of the staff just not in the suite near the elevator room.

Friendly helpful staff, clean facilities, awesome fitness center, pools and hot tubs. Beautiful garden area around the pool area. Ocean front. Easy access to the beach, which is very large even at high tide. Soft sand. There is a restaurant/ bar next door ($$$) with live music. Its not in the same resort but its a 2 minute walk to get there.

Excellent, family oriented resort beautiful surroundings.

Have been visiting here and staying at Monarch for 25+ years and will continue as long as it’s an option. Still quaint enough to feel like home but corporate enough to be able to expect Marriott attentiveness and care to be at your beckon call. Highly recommend.

We had driven almost 500 miles to enjoy a beach vacation. We arrived about Saturday and were told the next day we were to vacate due to Dorian storm. We never even got to the beach. Maybe next year we will have better luck..

Marriott Resort hotels are one of my favorite places to stay. Usually clean and well kept. This is a quite place with ocean front rooms. The beach is beautiful...but then again, whats not to like about Hilton Head. Theres an outside area with partially covered lounge chairs where you can sit and read a book or just lounge by the pool and soak up some rays.

Very peaceful. You can kick back and relax!

We had the amazing opportunity to stay in the pent-house. It was a wonderful view and we’d love to go back again.

The property has lots of recreational opportunities. I enjoyed the aqua exercise in the morning. Easy beach access with easy rentals for umbrella and chairs. The rooms had everything needed and had recently been updated. Great week.

As a family we have been staying at Marriott Vacation Club resorts all over the country, and I have to say that the Monarch is by far the WORST MVC resort that weve ever stayed at. Were in a 2-bedroom unit, and the second bedroom (with TWIN beds) is so small that a chest of drawers to keep clothing in is not even in the room - its in a closet across from the kitchen. The furniture is terrible, despite the fact that we were told that the resort had recently gone through a complete renovation. In addition, Marriott clearly does not enforce their no smoking policy, as we had a woman in the unit below us smoking on the deck all the time, with the smoke naturally wafting up to our balcony. We will NEVER stay at the Monarch again.

Ive been coming to the Monarch since the early 1980s, before it was a Marriott property. It was great then & now its even better. Extremely clean grounds, great pools & easy beach access!

The Marriott Monarch is located in the Sea Pines of HHI. It is an smaller older timeshare, but it is just perfect for families that love to bike ride and walk on the beach. It is a wonderful quite resort with a stunning garden view area with Koi ponds.... truly a relaxing getaway. The staff is top notch!

We own two timeshare weeks and I have owned one since 1982. Our recent stay was by far the worst of all! We normally enjoy ALL our time, but we both became Ill in our first unit week and became more ill as the week progressed. Even though we had no energy and just wanted to sleep, we wrote it off to acute allergies. However, as soon as we moved into our second unit in a different building, within 2 hours we began to feel better and continued to do so throughout the week. We believe there may be black mold in the first unit. The staff was also not as cordial as in the past. We are considering selling for the first time.

Our favorite Hilton Head Island vacation spot in Sea Pines! Located ocean front and on the bike path across from Plantation Pines Golf club and a short bike trip from Harbor Town. Villas are up to date, clean and organized. Staff is excellent! Love this place!

Terribly disappointed in this villa!! Confirmation said we had an ocean front balcony, but we were put on the first floor with a patio where we couldn’t see the ocean because of shrubs and a berm. I asked to be moved and they said they had no other villas available. They said that the patio WAS a balcony. I felt deceived. Most people know the difference between a balcony and a patio. I will never go back there. No amenities. We couldn’t even find a soda machine.

My family has been coming to Monarch for 30 years. Its always a great, relaxing experience. There are lots of activities if you like, but its about the beach, pool, bikes and food for me. If you like just relaxing, this is for you.

Very family oriented. Beautifully landscaped & maintained . Right on the beach.Condos are clean * plenty of towels etc. & kitchen is stocked with all dishes,pots &pans,dishwasher & full size oven/stove &refrigerator.& There is a clothes washer & dryer. Great place to vacation.

Beautiful resort with clean, spacious rooms. We had a rather serious medical emergency with a family member the first night of our stay. We left first thing the next morning. Not only was the front desk staff kind and reassuring after hearing what happened and that we had to drive to NY, they wished us well and didnt charge us for the rest of our stay. What an unexpected act of kindness. We will most definitely be back!

This resort is great, my family and I are having a great time. The staff is super friendly and our villa is brand new. The amenities are great and they have a calendar full of small events for their guests to enjoy. I highly recommend!

Beautiful ocean front resort in Sea Pines with large pools and nice landscaping. The condos are very nice and modern. The resort has a workout room, gas grills, a pool side grill that opens for the summer season and a beautiful stretch of beach.

Just arrived home from our recent stay at Monarch at Sea Pines. Our families list of disappointment would be too long to list here but Ill share our last day there. We were awoken at 6:00 by slamming cabinet doors from the kitchen unit next to ours. The head board of the master bedroom shares a wall with the kitchen of the neighboring unit. When that was done, the thundering from above began. Yes, they had young ones. To say the walls are thin is an understatement. After breakfast and a short walk on the beach we headed to the pool. We were enjoying a conversation with some owners while two, yes two not one, power washers were started up at the pool. It was 12:00 and the pool was packed. Apparently that is the optimal time to scrub the grill that over looks the pool, 5 feet away to be exact. After 30 minutes and a ton of complaints from everyone at the pool I asked one of the gentlemen if they could wash later. Response...just doing what I was told. OK, so I walked over to the lobby to kindly ask if this effort could stop. I was told no manager was on site so the receptionist would call the facilities manager. No change for the next hour. I returned to the lobby at 1:30 and again asked if they could stop. At this point my wife had a migraine and went back to the room. Again, no change. I again returned to the lobby and asked for the manager and general managers contact info. It was 2:30 at this point. I called to have a basic service discussion with these folks with no luck. I left messages for Birgit Koellner-Gozlan, the general manager, and of course have not heard back. I dont even know when they finished because the rest of the family was tired of the sound and headed to the room as well. The aloof staff that lacked any understanding they are part of the service industry was amazing to us. The best part of the power washing....its a Saturday to Saturday time frame. Why not use your intellect and figure out that if check out is 11:00 and check in is 4:00, that gives you five hours to power wash between weeks? Dont affect your customers final day, Friday! I dont feel like the staff there could understand that concept. Unbelievably disappointed. For the cost, the service, staff and management are sub par at best.

Great location and nice quiet property that is well maintained. It is right on the water and the pools were clean and a nice temperature. Management was non-existent during our entire stay and the kids working at the front desk were clueless. As long as you didnt need anything you were fine, but asking for even simple things like a wine bottle opener or a cup of ice for baby formula was like asking to split an atom. They literally could offer no assistance. Management needs to train the staff better and have a presence on the property, like walking around the pool. We were there for a week and never saw a manager our entire stay. Another issue is that the sidewalks on the property leading to the pool at used for trash gathering and dirty laundry processing - each day we had to take our stroller through the parking lot because the sidewalks were completely blocked. The workers blocking the sidewalks were apologetic and friendly, but it was clear that is how they were instructed to work because they blocked the sidewalks every single day.

Rooms are beautifully updated. Quiet and quaint in the heart of Sea Pines. I wish they had a bar and grill for lunch.

I love Marriott resorts and this one is no exception. A beautiful place to stay and the beach is right there. We did not try the dining area but it looked tempting. Friendly service from the personnel.

The villas are incredibly spacious. A 2 bedroom villa is basically a 2 bed, 2 bath 1400 sq foot condo and includes a washer/dryer. With a full kitchen and a dining table for 8, I can imagine this would be a great place for a family vacation. The buildings look old from the outside, but they are very new and updated on the inside. And our villa had two huge balconies as well! Youre right on the trails, and what makes it perfect is that youre right across from the bike shop. So you can rent a bike and easily go down to the Salty Dog or over to Harbourtown, which are both about a mile away. And while there is no food/restaurant/room service on site, youre right next to the Beach Club which is great for any meal. Youre right on the beach, so beach access doesnt get much better. And they have two pools, with one heated. The downside is that I completely missed the fine print, which states you could have to move rooms. We only stayed two nights, so I found this especially ridiculous. Since this is a timeshare property, they basically overlap bookings and give preference to the timeshare owners. They called me the same day of check in to tell me Id have to move rooms... like I could do anything about it at that point. Overall, I would love to stay here again, as long as I dont have to change rooms.

Our first week was terrible. Allergies were off the chart. Something in the unit started it. My husband sent management a detailed account. They said the would look i to it. Havent heard back yet. Disappointed in Marriott. I expected more .

We loved our ground floor villa, access directly to the beautiful grounds. The clerk who checked us in was wonderful, the villa was very nice. The couch was a tad uncomfortable, but I think they are in the middle of remodeling rooms. We didnt spend much time sitting inside anyway, the beach was right there and we took many walks around the garden. Very beautiful property.

The Sea pines has been an excellent vacation for our family. The people who are members at Marriott vacation club have a great choice to come here to the Marriott Sea pines. My family and I have loved the hospitality. For example the front desk provided to us for double a batteries when we requested them.

Started staying here when the Dogwood building opened in the ‘80s. Have been going back every year since then. While I now stay next door at Turtle Lane, my parents still own their Monarch timeshare so we’re there constantly. Beautiful tree-covered walkways to beach, two clean swimming pools, lots of kid-focused activities like hula hoop and limbo contests, and beach ball-volleyball in the pool. There’s a ping pong table and shuffleboard. They grill burgers for lunch by the pool available to purchase. Plus, right next to Sea Pines Beach Club with its own lunch/dinner options. Units seem to be well-maintained, front desk staff is friendly, and parking is controlled so there are always spaces. Bike rental stand out in the parking lot as well.

I have returned to this resort for at least 15 years, the location is perfect. I enjoy staying here for several reasons, it is a smaller resort and well cared for. The resort is updated on a regular basis and everything is CLEAN. The staff is friendly and responsive. I enjoy renting the bikes and riding around Sea Pines and on the beach. This place has everything I need for a perfect vacation for my family!

The original Marriott timeshare property that looks as new as the day it opened almost 40 years ago. Super maintenance and continual upgrades and refurbishments make the villas outstanding. Two pools and direct access to a huge beach plus all the bike trails of Sea Pines Plantation. The Beach Club is right next door to the lobby with great food and nightly entertainment.

Best of many excellent Marriott properties we have visited. Check in experience was great. The entire staff was polite, friendly, professional and couldn’t do enough to help us. The resort is gorgeous and the accommodations top notch. Everything is so clean and well maintained and the buildings tuck in almost invisibly within the beautiful tress, lagoons and pools. Easy access to what seems like a private beach. Great welcome packet and the concierge and desk staff provided excellent recommendations to plan fun visits to local attractions. The resort itself was almost cruise-like with so many activities planned every day for the guests. Hilton Head and the Monarch combined to provide a 5 star vacation experience. Highly recommended

Love yhis place has been very calming over the weekend. Nice 2 bedroom unit with full kitchen. Great for a family get away.

Came into area early and was able to access the beach and other facilities until time to check in. My 3 grandchildren had easy access to pool, pool table, ping pong, chess, while the adults could see them easily from their seats in the pool area. It was very relaxing and had variety. So much nicer than when we stayed at other hotels where you have only the beach, the pool and the room. They also allowed us to use the facilities after 10 am check out. We were able to shower and change clothes that afternoon and head home feeling sand-free ! Will definitely return to this hotel next time we come into the area.

Considering the Low Season rate we paid we would have appreciated being informed that hotel is under going remodeling construction. Our room was in back of complex with no view to speak of. Also, I think quest should be informed that you must pay a $6.00 gate fee to inter Sea Pines. Having stayed at Sea Pines many times I have never been asked to pay Gate fee. This is normally arranged by the villa complex. Disappointed that Marriott would not provide this for quest. The front desk was less than welcoming as we asked for a late check out while observing what appeared to be a low occupancy. They did grant us one extra hour. The villa was very clean, bedding was well appointed and housekeeping staff was very kind. Monarch is such a great location and because of that would recommend staying here. In season the pool and beach facilities are wonderful.

The couch and chairs in our villa were very uncomfortable. The outside handrails were rusted through and the concrete steps are in bad shape.The view from the balcony was great! The location in Sea Pines was very nice. The heated outdoor pool was a good temperature. So you could swim with the outdoor temperature of 49 degrees.

Consistent Marriott quality,staff is attentive,grounds are well maintained, pools are clean ,and villas are recently upgraded and refreshed.

Excellent place to stay .super nice

Everything is extremely clean and well-***icured at this resort. There is a ***ned desk to help you with plans and answer questions. Rooms are spacious with full kitchen. The entire villa was spotlessly clean and looked to have been somewhat recently redecorated. Something like 26 miles worth. We plan to come back next year and it will probably be back to this resort.

It is a very enjoyable place. Lots of activities on the grounds. Try to get one of the renovated buildings. There is a big difference. But of course it has the Marriott charm

Great friendly staff, very helpful. Large well maintained property. On the ocean in a quiet neighborhood. Small kitchen is nicely equipped. Living room furnishings are a little uncomfortable but ok. You will need a car because restaurants are a ways away. Comfortable for 4 adults (2 bedroom units). Recommended

Fantastic location, wonderful staff. Though smaller than other Marriotts on HHI, its a wonderful place to stay.

Monarch is a wonderful Marriott property and has added ***y new improvements. The location cannot be beat. The golf courses are right across the street and the bike trails are as good as they come. The Market has just been renovated and looks like a closet. On the down side, the water temperature in the shower fluctuates between very hot and cold.

Ohhhhhhh my gosh. The landscaping at Ocean Oak is so incredible. The pots in the front are outstanding!!

This is my fourth stay here over 25 years. Great place with solid accommodations. Staff are friendly and helpful. Activities for kids and adults. Anything on the island is only a few minutes away. 4+...nobody is perfect.

Carpeting was old, A/C leaked and made noise, dishwasher was broke and not repaired the entire week. Countertop in kitchen worn out. Cheap furniture. Marriott charges owners a high premium yearly fee and they must be keeping the money because they are NOT putting it into the Units like they say they are...
