The park was nice with great views! There was a serious lack of information about how the camping in the park worked. For anyone wanting to camp at the park:1. It is first come first serve but you have to check in at the nature center first. Thats means you have to make it there before they close at 4 pm , and they pick your campsite for you.2. If you end up with Campsite 1 like I did, it is RIGHT next to the trail and you end up like a zoo animal, being observed by all of the other park patrons who are walking, jogging or cycling by on the trail.3. They lockup the park pretty good after sunset. So having some temporary guests come over to chill around the fire pit with you is not a thing.4. They have a nice fire pit and some wood was provided and plenty was laying around. (Although pretty damp)5. No alcohol is allowed and the fires are supposed to be out by 10:30pm.

This is such a fun and beautiful place to go to take photos, go for a walk, or to have a picnic. I’ve been here twice, and there are always tons of staff ready to help. It’s just a really beautiful place to go and I totally recommend it.

Lots of room to roam. Plenty of trails. A good sized dog park (but very muddy so be prepared.) There are even yurts for rent! The lakes are beautiful and the smallest one is FULL of turtles. I’ve never seen so many turtles in my life. At least a couple hundred if you go down to the bridge at the end of the path that bisects the lake. Will definitely be back for more exploring and maybe some camping too.

I love this park but I had 1 bad experience, when we came back home my son(1 year old)had 6 tiny ticks on him they looked like specks. so Im nervous to go back. and we have no animals of our own at all. so if you have any little kids just make sure to check their skin. their so tiny they look like moles. but very up close you can tell its a tick. the one on granite is a very zoomed in picture the one on the cup is how it looks not zoomed in.

This is a beautiful park to relax or exercise. I love taking pictures of the lakes. They reflect beautifully and the pictures are amazing. I often see egrets and occasionally I see a great heron. The woods and wild life are a great way to get away from a busy life and take a break.

Beautiful park. I rented/reserved the Lakeside shelter for a baby shower. When I arrived I had to clean trash up in the shelter. One of the 2 trash cans was so full it had trash hanging out of it. We finally ran down one of the rangers who were wheeling around on the four wheelers and got her to empty the trash. I thought an $80 rental fee would reserve us a trashfree location. Despite is all, the shower was beautiful.

Always a great place to go on walks or take pictures, great for all ages and they even have a dog park! Along with a regular play ground for the kiddos. Lastly at their welcome center they have a display of snakes and other reptiles to look at and you can rent a paddle/row boat!

This is really nice small park with the longest trail being a little over 2 miles. I like some of the switchbacks when I do hit the trails. They have an extremely beautiful lake with little floats for turtles to sun bath on, which happens pretty often. There are plenty of spots to go fishing and even a small boat launch. Noticed that they have a bird watch pavilion which is pretty cool. Easily one the prettier parks in the area even if it’s on the smaller side.

I always love going to Sandy Bottom. There are so many nice trails, camping areas, yurts, and fun things to do! You can rent a paddle boat or canoe to go out on the big lake, rent a boat to fish in the smaller lake or fish from the pier, play on the playground and so much more. (Of course, the rentals are unavailable during the Covid shutdown, but you can still go fishing from the pier and take walks along the many trails). There is also a dog park available upon purchasing a membership.

I absolutely love this place!! This walk was great. My family enjoyed the wildlife and especially the turtles. I was in awe when I saw that they rent out Yurts. Like amazing. We have a beautiful time....and there is alot of shade. They have the benches and other seating in various parts of the trail...that was very convenient. There only fault is that the rocks on the trail were murder....even for a $85 pair of good sneakers. But I was thankful that we didnt see any snakes....hey when you are in the woods....your on mother natures territory.

Always very relaxing to visit, Sandy Bottom Nature Park is beautiful and natural, allowing for individuals to commune with nature although large enough to accommodate a surprisingly large number of guests without appearing to be crowded. The structures which have been erected are extremely useful for individuals and groups, and everything seems very thoughtfully done.

Sandy Bottom is the ideal place to walk, think, talk, and enjoy nature. Trail options service those who want to spend twenty minutes or an hour and a half taking in the scenery. Ive enjoyed this park for many years. Its a nice, flat, easy walk. Lots of opportunity to take photographs of landscape and wildlife. Even in the winter there are usually birds wading in the shallow water as well as ducks. Springtime with newly hatched ducklings is also a great time to shoot pictures. The indoor facility has plenty to see with a lot of live exhibits. Well worth a visit.

This is a great park! Very quiet and wooded with several hiking trails. Perfect place to take the dogs for a nice walk. It’s never too crowded, so you really get that nature feel. Great place to see wildlife, such as herons, turtles and snakes. My favorite thing to do here is rent a boat (canoe or paddle boat) and spend some time out on the lake. It’s very peaceful and they also allow you to bring your dogs on the boats, which is a major plus! The park also allows tent camping and has really cute yurts that you can rent out. Definitely a great place to spend the afternoon!

Sandy Bottom is my favorite Hampton park. The trails are nice and good for running. There’s plenty of shaded trails for hot days. You can also rent a canoe for a few dollars. There’s a park with swings, slides, and more for kids. There’s also reptiles inside of the Nature Center that are fun to look at and learn about. The only downfall to Sandy Bottom is flooding on the trails. The shaded trails sometimes flood. If it has rained a lot recently you’ll want to avoid certain trails.

If I could give this place a 0 I would. I recently made a reservation for an outdoor site in May and was informed by the site staff that they were taking online payments to hold sites reservations for outdoor pavilion sites and informed me that they would be able to take individuals post-COVID 19 openings in JUNE 2020. They waited a whole month after taking my payment to inform me that they were unable to accept patrons at their park and that they would have to issue me a refund. Daily, the park is open and I constantly see individuals outside walking around, running and utilizing the pavilion spaces without a reservation and no delegation by staff otherwise telling them they cannot use the property. I am very upset in accordance to this because they should have had better management and communication with local/state government staff in accordance to operation and function. Its not acceptable to be open daily for anyone to show up but when individuals try and take precautions to make careful and skilled reservations, they cannot honor it. I will not be referring others to utilize this property in the future.

Great for walking and photography. A lot of people bring their dogs here for walks and the dog park. There is a $10 fee to use the dog park. The only building is the information center so most handicap questions about this place do not apply. The information center also provides information about paddle boat/kayak rentals. The only other structures here are the picnic tables, roofed picnic areas (with grills), the overlook, and the dog park. There are camping sites here, ones with provided shelter but also ones where its a bring your own tent situation. Theres a variety of paths to take, so you are able to walk somewhere different everytime you come here. The most popular places here are the dog park, and a tall, wooden overlook. Benches can be found sporadically throughout the various trails as well. It gets a bit noisy in the parts of the park that are near the highway, but, for the most part, the park is pretty quiet and you can talk at a normal conversation level. The trails are also very well maintained. The gravel on the main trails is refreshed fairly regularly and the trails in the woodsy portions are pretty easy to follow and clear of major branches and roots.tl;dr: Great park all and all. Clean and very scenic. You can go here every week and it feels like a new park everytime, while still remaining familiar. c: c: c:
