Diverse and welcoming Catholic parish in the Heartside Neighborhood of downtown Grand Rapids. Beautiful, historic church worth stopping into. Some of the best liturgical music around.

What a beautiful church that practices social distancing. You can be assured that you may worship and saty safe. Attended the 4:30 Mass on Saturday, which was not too busy! The priest is wonderful and has a calming presence.

St. Andrew’s is amazing. The cathedral is beautiful, the masses are beautiful. Deacon Dennis and Father René are awesome and their homilies are so well spoken. My fiancé and I just moved to Grand Rapids and we are both Catholic and engaged and St. Andrew’s was so welcoming. We just became parishioners here and couldn’t be happier!

This Cathedral is awesome. You can spend a lot of time just admiring the stained glass windows, alone. Acoustics are really nice for listening to the music. Well lit, and kept up very well. If you have a few minutes to visit, please stop in and spend some time there.

This magnificent Cathedral is a beacon in the Grand Rapids community. The live broadcast of the Mass on Sunday morning brought Mass to my husband and me during this time of Church closings. The Bishop prayed a Rosary at the end of the service. I encourage all people to support this Cathedral. Thank you so much.

Beautiful Gothic-inspired cathedral. Two exquisite organs, striking stained-glass, bold statuary in the chancel, and very moving bas-relief Stations of the Cross. The vaulting is its crown jewel, in my opinion. Gilt ribbing, and the ceiling painted to evoke the open sky. At Christmastime, you must hear the Grand Rapids Choir of Men and Boys present a Service of Nine Lessons and Carols. The Cathedral is fortunate to have such a fine musical treasure presenting many of their concerts right there.

I was given the wonderful privilege and honor of participating in the 20th Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Celebration at the Cathedral of St. Andrews as the representative of the Grand Rapids Buddhist Temple and Zen Center. What an incredible experience!!! Sharing the podium with an Imam, Rabbi, Sikh Priest, Bahai leader, Dominan Sister, representative on the Native American Spiritual Community, seeing and hearing African music and dance the Kakilambe, The GR Men and Boys Choir, Los Musicos de la Paz, and so much more!! What a celebration of diversity and oneness!!!Much gratitude to my Dharma Sister, Ai Su Kimberly Hillebrand, for assistance in navigating the evening, and her employer, The Kaufman Institute!!! It is inexpressible the feeling that surrounds a gathering such as this. Over the top wonderful!!!

The cathedral transports me to Europe and to the churches I went to as a child. The parishoners seems more devout and the priests more in tune with God. My state of consciousness is changed as soon as I enter the cathedral and encounter the beauty of its domed ceiling glittering with stars and the gorgeous stained-glass windows.

My family lives in the City of GR (but we go to a different parish) and wanted to check out the Cathedral. We decided to attend 10am Sunday mass. Driving downtown Sunday morning was a nightmare of road closures. Upon arriving late, we were easily able to find a seat. The choir sounded very good, but few of the parishioners sang along. They did have someone signing for the deaf the entire mass. The church was very cold inside (mid October) - basically the same temperature as outside. We wished we had worn more clothes and brought winter coats. Think twice if you have small children or infants as they may not be warm enough, unless its summer. The inside of the church is pretty standard fare- there are prettier Cathedrals in Michigan. Be advised if you are visiting they will ask you to stand up before mass is over and introduce yourself. All-in-all an OK experience that probably wont be repeated.
