Truly a gem of a place! You can spend all day here and still want to return to spend another day. Articulate and well preserved! Tastefully done with excellent, helpful staff and beautiful surroundings. Everything from the children’s area to the Japanese gardens to the sculpture park is perfectly designed and amazing! The café is awesome as well, offering fresh food and delicious coffee. Make plans to spend some time here and truly absorb this special place. At less than $15 for entry it’s a steal! This is an amazing place for outdoor enthusiasts! Bring a good book and enjoy one of the many benches in the park or even an outdoor picnic. The trolly ride is great if youd like a little history behind the sculptures and dont want to walk a ton. My favorite times are late winter during the indoor butterfly exhibit and fall after the leaves have changed. My favorite outdoor spots are the waterfall and the Japanese garden!

These gardens are a great place to relax and take a calming walk, especially if you are coming from a city. There are many different types of gardens e.g. Japanese gardens, greenhouses with dessert plants etc. one downside is that there is a lot of construction going on at the moment so some of the exhibition spaces are off limits and the noise of the machinery interferes with the tranquil atmosphere

Amazing gardens, both indoors and out. A great variety of plants from all climates. They even have carnivorous plants. Lovely sculptures and gardens throughout the property. The childrens area was filled with fun facts and things to do. There is a gift shop and restaurant located onsite as well. Handicap accessible parking and entry. Located north of I-96 on Hwy 44 in Grand Rapids.

Fun place to hang out and spend hours wandering around looking at numerous types of garden environments, as well as greenhouse collections. Make sure you take some time to slowly meander the Japanese Garden, it can be very relaxing. We also noticed the Childrens Garden seemed quite popular with the little ones, lots of things for them to climb around on and see there. The Sculpture Park is probably more interesting to some folks than others, a lot of it is abstract art so not everyone will appreciate it but it makes for a nice walk if the weather is good.

Fred Meijer Gardens is the perfect getaway for anyone whose cabin fever is starting to get the better of them. Its mix of man-made and natural beauty simply cant be beat in the West Michigan area, as the pics Ill be providing will show.I really appreciate the rules they have added for the public safety regarding masks etc. as well, as it shows them actively trying to help the community. If youre looking for an outlet for just yourself, you and one other, or your whole family, this is the place to go.

Beautiful any time of the year! My favorite part is the sculpture park, but the rest of the facility is beautiful as well. The childrens garden has a lot for the the little ones- a treehouse style play structure, interactive exhibits, water feature thats okay to touch, and kid friendly sculptures. The sculpture park has a wide variety of art on display with gardens that compliment the art, truly something for everyone here. The Japanese Garden is peaceful and a has many places to just take in a beautiful views. The greenhouses inside have beautiful and interesting plants that you are definitely not going to find in many places in Michigan. There are tropical (with a few birds, too), Victorian, arid, and carnivorous greenhouses.Meijer Gardens is a great place for a day trip, and has something for everyone.

In my top 5 gardens. There is a lovely childrens park. The Japanese garden is wonderful. The people in the shop were kind. They wrapped up my succulents and put them in a nice container. The sculptures are fun to see. The landscaping around the walkways and in the parking lot is beautiful. Im really glad I got to come to this garden. My family spent longer than we expected here and it was great. My one complaint is that I was very thirsty. I just needed water. Im not going to lie, I was tempted to drink from the fountains, but I practiced self control.Pro tip: bring water (at least while Covid is here)

So much to see!! I could easily have spent 2 full days there!! We went specifically to see the Japanese garden and WOW it was so beautiful!! Could have spent the whole day (but I don’t like the cold so... we didn’t ). On our way out we stopped at the indoor gardens and sculpture room. The only “downside” was the bathrooms in the Japanese garden part of the park were closed UNTIL SPRING and I can’t hold it that long !!! Ultimately it ment we left that part of the gardens without seeing a portion but no big deal.I will 100% be going back in the summer.

The Gardens are beautiful, and the buildings are nice. No real complaints, and its a wonderful place to visit.Only complaint, and this is a big one: If youre going to close all your drinking fountains and cafeteria during the pandemic, PROVIDE AN ALTERNATIVE SOURCE OF WATER. It was 80°+ out, wed been outside for several hours, and there wasnt even a place to purchase water. So if you plan of visiting, make sure you bring your own, since the Gardens arent even providing that basic service.

Its easy to see why this is one of the favorite spots to go to in Grand Rapids. the caretakers of these gardens take meticulous time to make sure they get as much right as they possibly cant, and they rarely get it wrong. the kids garden area, and the Japanese garden are exquisiteexamples of the detail craftsmanship and workmanship that go into maintaining this lovely beautiful and vast botanical expanse.Mr. Fred Meyer, and his family should be proud ofof this achievement, and should be pleased to know that their contribution is by far one of the best examples ofphilanthropy and community investment that Ive seen.I would definitely visit this this place again.

August 2020-Coming from Illinois with the Chicago Botanical Gardens, Morton Arboretum, and Brookfield Zoo etc. I did not have any expectations that this garden would be on par with those Chicago establishments. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this garden rose above even the strongest expectations that I could have had. Entrance fee was reasonable. Bathrooms were very clean, Covid spacing/masks were all being followed. All of the employees were kind, helpful, and really showed us how to make the most of our first visit. The art exhibit this year literally made my emotions run the gamut...I did not expect that but excellent art does has a way of moving me. Also, I have a bum leg/ankle and all paths in this place were very handicapped friendly and I was able to navigate the entire park. This was an A+ experience and I will return when we come back to MI! I love the people & places in Michigan. You ROCK!

Meijer Gardens is one of my familys favorite places to visit. We have been members now for over 7 years, beginning our membership when my son was around 1 year old. At that age, I loved having beautiful gardens to to wander while pushing him in the stroller. He also had safe and clean paths to crawl around on. Now that I have three kids, their favorites are the Childrens Garden and the Farm Garden. I have lived in the Grand Rapids area for many years. The only time I had been there was to see the famous Butterflies Exhibit in a indoor tropical enclosure. The other time I was there was to see the Christmas trees decorated in that Countrys traditional ornaments. On that particular day I also saw the VERY large bronze horse! But to go beyond these indoor activities was as far as I had ever visited. What a place I discovered outside those walls!!!! What I found with a friend was a beautiful, serene, well manicured gardens that span many acres deep. The outside of The Gardens is for those who LOVE nature and can appreciate it for all it has to offer! It is quiet and very tranquil. You can ask for a wand that will give you a guided tour of the areas and what to look for. There is a Childrens area with two water features and a splash pad. There are trams that will take you around for those that cannot walk. All of the areas are suitable for a wheelchair, as I was in one the places we went. wheelchairs are free for adventuring people who want to see The Gardens at their own pace. As we were leaving, we heard a band warming up for a concert that night in the outdoor Ampitheatre! It was the B52s! All summer there are shows you can see and vary in price. That day for the B52s was $91 a ticket. You can also buy a year pass for $120 for a family. The pass is good for unlimited entries, communications, and VIP treatments in many ways. The Gardens also host weddings and receptions . Back to the Gardens for a minute... The trails to each Garden have benches all along the way and water fountains along the way too.
