Beautiful Trustees property with miles and miles of trails, some carriage-path broad and flat and some more challenging, plus interesting topography and environments. No horses (I love them but my dog loves them TOO much). Small parking lot at the south side, some street parking available. Generally less crowded than the trails at other forests nearby, like Willowdale or Rowley.

Beautiful little wood in Gloucester. Conservation area with vernal pools and several marked trails. The woods are about ten degrees cooler due to all the trees. Bring bug spray this summer: lots of rain this spring has brought lots of skeeters! One carried me away for a few minutes, but brought me back quickly - wrong blood type.

Excellent location for dog walking and wonderful nature reserve. However, my own unpreparedness soon threw me a very bad experience (my own fault). Trial to magnolia swamp was bumpy and I broke my metatarsal bone by stepping on a stone. Mosquitos repellent is definitely a must during summer! I went back home with a broken feet and full of mosquitos bites (really nasty bites, and hurt so much)... I will go back when I am recovered and better prepared (maybe take 2months).

Glorious wooded walk park and great place for dog walks ~ that most people, who are not living in Gloucester or the area of the North Shore of Boston, might not be aware of. I was not until I started vacationing here regularly. Trails, trees and a lovely pond.

This has become one of my favorite hiking spots on the North shore. Great place to take your dog off leash. Provides wider gravel trails as well as less traveled narrow paths.

This place was amazing! Definitely worth a trip and visit. The trails are extremely well kept, with lots of main trails great for an afternoon stroll, as well as some much more challenging, off the beaten path trails we enjoyed. I was out here with my dog, and we were able to find a nice nearly 5 mile loop and easily found our way back. The trails are very well marked with maps and numbered posts, so if you pay attention you can find your way. We ran into lots of friendly people and dogs, ranging in ages from early 20s to 80s. There are trails for every type. One of the things I really liked was that dogs are allowed off leash once past the entrance, as its clearly marked. Definitely worth another visit, I just wish it were closer to where we live! By far one of the best walking ares weve found in the northeastern Massachusetts area!

I grew up in Gloucester and have been to Ravenswood hundreds of times. I went up through Stillington road this time. It was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. We actually ran into a few dog walkers. I guess I never really paid attention, as we saw dozens of frogs! Also mushrooms in every color. When we got to the top of the hill we could see the breakwater and the light house. Great place to spend a day.

We just took two dogs for the perfect wooded walk. We went on the main path, but there are more rustic trails. It was nice and cool in the woods and not super buggy, actually only saw a few catapillars and crawling bugs. Dogs definitely loved the walk and meeting other dogs.

Good variety of fairly leisurely hikes. Well maintained. Love running through with the pup. I do think its strange that they would have sold the building at the entrance which used to be an info center with bathrooms as a private family home though? So no bathrooms anymore. But all natural beauty within intact.

The trails can be a bit confusing and the maps arent great so be aware of your surroundings so you dont get turned around. Other than that, nice place to get away from the beach for it bit, dog friendly, easy hiking and a nice overlook of the bay.

One of the better parks Ive ever been to, but with all dog parks its the type people that visit there that really make. 5 stars for being such a beautiful place -1 star for terrible dog owners that take the park for granted and feel the rules do not apply to them.

Ravenswood Park is a wonderful forest reserve with trails through the woods and its maintained by the Trustees of the Reservation. A great spot to commune with nature. Its really quite beautiful--the trails are a nice variety. I saw people cross country skiing this past weekend, I saw people walking, lots of dogs were out and about enjoying the day--grabbing sticks, making friends, running around and jumping up on my jeans leaving muddy paw prints :)--photographers, speed walkers, mosey-ers, and even a toddler toddling down the trail. I brought my camera and loved seeing the melting ice and snow, the bare branches of the trees catching the light. It was just a beautiful nature walk with the quiet forest around us.There are trails for everyone--rolling trails, long trails, short trails, gravel trails (aka old Carriage trails), wide main trails, and more narrow bumpy-forest-y trails. There are beautiful vernal ponds to check out during the wet seasons--listen for the animals and bugs that surround them. The web site says there are 10 miles of trails to explore. My mom loves to watch birds and this park has a ton of them.
