To get here, you have to go through several signs that make it seem like the road is for people who live there only and past a sign that says yacht club. Then when you arrive, the Lighthouse says private property and is gated off. Plus there is a big structure blocking pictures from the parking lot. You have to walk along the water to get decent pictures and it is sad that it is run down looking.
Although there is no actual trails to walk around and you cant go directly up to the lighthouse its still a nice place to check out. You can walk out on the Warf to the end where Dogbar Lighthouse is located. Beautiful views of the ocean and great spot to take pictures. No benches or tables to sit at though.
Mass Audubon sanctuaries are often a challenge to find...and none more so than this one! Clearly, the people in the fancy seaside estates along the road here do NOT want to see the hoi palloi wandering around their nabe, so be prepared to see lots of signs saying private property and keep out as you try to make your way to the Point. Unfortunately, there was no staff here and not any proper information like a trail map. So although we found the parking lot and its demand for $10 parking fee for non-members--we are members, so no worries there--we were unable to find the actual half mile trail loop that allows you to access this area properly. Later, we did figure out where it was, doing some follow-up research... but too late for this visit. So big points to Mass Audubon for creating this restored salt marsh area for wildlife. But for humans this place can be quite frustrating. So be very prepared before you try to find this place.
Breathtaking views of ocean, lighthouse, nature. Nice family walk on rocks to get out to long jetty out to end with lighthouse. My dog loves running along here, eating little sea critters that wash up on walkway, checking out what Fisher people have caught.
No trails for people but a good restoration are for animals. Nice view of the Gloucester Harbor and Eastern Point Yacht Club.
Great spotting of a white tailed deer and her mate
Stellar vantagepoint for sunsets. I visited in November and there was no parking attendant. Maybe fee is a seasonal affair? Entrance to Eastern Point is flanked with less than welcoming signs warning off non owners. Not sure if thats just bluster to keep out the proletariate, but seems impractical given the sanctuary location.
I only saw a part of it and the breakwall. Be aware, if you drive there is a $10 fee for parking.
Very peaceful and well preserved
It was beautiful!!!
What a view!
